 GEOGRAPHICAL STATISTICS

The Guimaras Island is a province in the Philippines in the Western Visayas region. It is
said that. The geographical statistics of the island shows the following [1]:

- Type: Province
- Island Group: Visayas
- Region: Western Visayas (Region VI)
- Cities: 0
- Municipalities: 5 (since 2016)
- Barangays: 98 (since 2016)
- Coastal/Landlocked: coastal
- Marine waterbodies: Sulu Sea
- Area: 604.57 sq. km.
- Density: 289 / sq. km. (since 2015)

Shown below are the figures of the location of the Guimaras Island in the Philippines,
and a detailed view of it [1].

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority [2], shown below is the statistics of the
population in Guimaras Island.

o GRDP (Gross Regional Domestric Product)

According to the Mineral Profile Province of Guimaras cited in mgb6.org [3], it is

observed that the three major industries contributing to the GDRP of Region VI in 2015 are:

- Agriculture and forestry which amounted to PHP 48,402,142 or 15.91%;

- Other services (i.e., accommodation and food services, arts, entertainment and
recreation services, etc.) which amounted to PHP 41,647,508 or 13.69%;
- Trade and repair of motor vehicles, motorcycle, personal and household goods which
amounted to PHP 40,399,033 or 13.28% [3].

While looking at the Mining and Quarry Sector, the total production value of the region is
PHP 6,447,868 or 2.12% of the GRDP in 2015. On a three-year record, the average production
value of the Mining and Quarry Sector amounted to PHP 5,985,262.33. It has shown that the
sector ranked second to the last among all other industries in the region [3].

 COMPARABLE ELECTRICITY DEMAND STATS

According to the Department of Energy (DOE). The electricity demand stats of Guimaras
Island are shown below through the Guimaras Electric Corporation (GUIMELCO). It is observed
that the expected demand annual average growth rate from 2016 to 2025 is 4.21%. It is
interpreted by the graph that it is expected that the demand will increase from 2015 up to 2025
[4].

 RECOMMENDED POWER PLANT CONFIGURATION (COAL, COMBINED-

CYCLE, ETC)
 By observing the table below given by the Department of Energy (DOE), it is observed
that wind power plants have the greatest number of power plants in Guimaras with a capacity of
104 MW. Beside the wind power plant, there is also one bunker / diesel power plant located in
Guimaras with a capacity of 3.4 MW [6].
