SECTION : OPERATION (BSM)
WORK INSTRUCTION FOR OPERATOR, FITTERS & HELPERS IN BDM STAND

1 Work with all safety gadgets like Helmets, Safety shoe, apron, hand gloves etc.

2 Ensure from main pulpit that all drives are in off condition.

3 There are two immoblization swithes in LCS - 1. Left switch for Roll gap and main drive. 2. Right switch for Entry & Exit Manipulators (Guide) and
Entry exit Roller table.
4 Before going to BD mill stand following steps must be taken care of :-

i While going for roll gap measurement, switch off and lock the right immoblization switch (manipulators Switch) by keys and keep it until the
completion of work.
ii While going for RG Box setting, switch off and lock both immoblization switches by keys and keep it until the completion of work.

5 Clean all mill scale and cool the work area before start working.

6 RG Box and Stripper setting :- Keep the manipulator guide in max. opening position for fixing of RG box & stripper on rest bar.

7 Roll gap Checking :- Roll gap is cross checked by standing on rest bar of RHF (Re-heating Furnace) side with information to pulpit operator.

8 Alignment of manipulator guide with respect to each pass is checked visually by standing on apron aproximate 0.5 meter out side manipulator guides.
After checking inform pulpit operator to move next pass. Odd passes are checked from RHF side where as even passes are checked from CM (Continues
Mill) side.

9 Gap of manipulator for each pass is done by standing on apron on the roller table from rear end (away from stand). After checking inform pulpit
operator to move next pass.

10 Avoid stepping on rollers, movable objects or any narrow places nearby.

11 After completion of work before leaving, ensure no tools tackles, work piece or any unwanted objects are left on the stand.

12 After the completion of work, unlock and switch on immoblization switches and give clearance to main pulpit.
