1. Check the First Learning Object and listen to and analyze some of the most common
procedures you can use to translate sentences.
3. Design a mind map to summarize the translation techniques and procedures found in the
readings above (you have to include new examples for better subsequent
understanding). Read article How to Make a Mind Map (available at http://bit.ly/2wXek1f)
to get an overall idea of mind mapping (you can consult other sources to work on this).

4. Now it is time to get familiar with some corporate communication. Find some examples
in the Second Learning Object.
7. Select a text from the ones analyzed above (letters, memos, emails, or organizational
charts) and translate it. You need to demonstrate good command of at least ten different
translation techniques from those explored in this guideline. You MUST highlight the
techniques using the table below. This activity (which will be assessed based on the
appropriate implementation of translation techniques or procedures) is to be developed
in teams and submitted as Guideline 2 –please check deadlines in the calendar.

1. Check the Third Learning Object and read the following articles in order to understand
the structure of company profiles (including mission statements):

2. Create a mind map to organize the information from the previous readings –including
the Third Learning Object. Read article How to Make a Mind Map (available at
http://bit.ly/2wXek1f) to get an overall idea of mind mapping (you can consult other
sources to work on this). This autonomous activity is not to be submitted.
Compare the 3 profiles you selected. Consider their structure, similarities, differences,
and key terms. Read article Cuadro Comparativo: Características, Tipos, Ejemplos
(available at http://bit.ly/2Ydmlx6) to work better on the design of your chart. This
autonomous activity is not to be submitted.
4. Take at least 10 terms from the exercises above and add them to the glossary you
created in the first activity of this guideline (that is, you MUST submit only 1 glossary
with all the terms). This exercise is to be developed in teams and submitted as
Guideline 2 –please check deadlines in the calendar.
5. Select one of the three company profiles you have already downloaded and translate
an excerpt (500 words). This translation is to be developed in teams and submitted as
Guideline 2 –please check deadlines in the calendar.
Note: Follow the Translation Project Management structure to translate the company profile
you have selected:
Assign roles to the members of your team and their functions (translator, editor, and
manager)
Submit the first version of the translation
Submit the second version of the translation using Microsoft Word track changes
Submit the final version of the translation
Submit the three documents and your translation plan as evidence. All versions
must be organized in two-column tables as follows:
6. Portfolio - Part 2
Look for two professional translators and write down their biography –keep it concise,
i.e. not exceeding 200 words each.
Select only one of them and justify your choice.
Interview the translator (8 to 10 minutes) and discuss about the topic you have
already selected in the first part of your portfolio.
Upload the video to YouTube and paste the link in your portfolio.
All the process above has to take place in the ‘Blog’ tab.
Only one team member has to submit this part of the portfolio (the same one who
uploaded the first part in Guideline 1). Do not forget to include the name of all
participants.
The tutor will review this activity and post their comments on the blog.
Note: Guideline 2 has to be submitted through the ‘Activities’ tab of the virtual
classroom only by one team member. Do not forget to use the APA style and include
the name of all team members.
