Maintain Fire Protection System
 Fire Protection System maintenance primarily involves
the maintenance of indoor sprinklers, Fire
Extinguishers, Smoke detectors.

 Maintenance is something you can do yourself as well,


as you want to make sure that the fire protection
system is working at all times.

detection and alarm equipment.

 The alarms should regularly be tested, and the


batteries should need to be restored at least once a
year, depending on the type.

1. Make sure they are installed in the right places. There
should be detectors on every floor, including the
basement.

2. Test the alarm at least once a week or month. You can


do this simply by pressing down the test button.

3. Keep the alarms clean. Dust them often. Do not paint


over them.
4. Smoke alarms should be changed approximately one
decade unless they are defected or damaged. If this is
the case, then they need to be replaced immediately.

workplace should be check regularly.

hindered in any way.

2. Make sure there are no dents, dirt, rust on the pump.

3. If there are a pin and tamper seal, make sure they are
intact.
4. Check the pressure usually to make sure that it is at
the recommended level.

5. If an extinguisher is used, it should be restored


immediately afterwards.

difficult. You can turn it into a routine.
 Having the regular inspections makes maintenance
easier.

 If your building has undergone any renovations since the


system was built, it may need repair itself.

 Any changes to a building, Such as changes in the water


supply, can render the sprinkler system useless.

1. Never hang anything from the ceiling with any objects
where the sprinkler heads are located.

2. Never paint the sprinkler heads.

3. Check the tamper switches every day to make sure


that the control valves are in open position.
4. If you have the wet-pipe system, protect them from
freezing with good insulation.

5. Do not stack anything close to the heads. Stacked


items should be at least 18 inches below the ceiling.
