Dear Parents,

We hope that you and your family are in good health and coping well in these trying times.

As we promised you in our last circular, we will be discussing with you the plans of CEIS
for SY 2020-2021.

Having carefully examined the developments in our country and in others, we expect that
the problem of CoViD19 will be around for a good number of months. According to many
experts, a CoViD19 cure or vaccine is the only solution that can bring back the normal life
of people. Although several companies are rushing to formulate, test and manufacture
drugs and a vaccine, realistically, these will probably be available in our country around the
second half of 2021. Hence, modified forms of community quarantine will be here for quite
some time and disrupt on-campus classes and activities of the teachers and students.
With this backdrop, the CEIS administration has to make a decision on how best it can de-
liver the needed services to the students.

Allow us to share with you how we will be operating classes for SY 2020-2021 in CEIS.

Curriculum and Instruction:

The Centro Escolar Integrated School for SY 2020-2021 will be implementing, in all its
grade levels, a full online course delivery. This will utilize the CEIS LMS (Learning Man-
agement System) and will cover all subjects offered from Pre-school to Grade 12. These
subjects will be handled by teachers who were fully trained to handle online teaching.

Subject syllabi were fully recalibrated to include essential competencies and both out-
comes and content were integrated to ensure a good teaching and learning experience of
the students.

The online classes will use the official CEIS LMS with well developed, constructively
aligned syllabi from outcomes, learning objectives, learning activities to assessments. The
following learning tools from the CEIS LMS such as virtual classroom, discussion forum,
announcements and others will be used.

The model will be largely asynchronous, meaning the students will study at their own pace
and time with just a once a week synchronous session of the complete class through the
virtual classroom for catching up, discussion of requirements that need to be submitted on
certain dates, checking up on the progress as well as homeroom time of the teacher with
the students. Nonetheless, teachers will be available online through email, everyday from
Monday to Friday, to answer inquiries from students during their “class schedule”.

The enhancement programs shall continue because we believe that these cultivate impor-
tant skills of the 21st century that students need to possess and we are negotiating with the
providers regarding the individual remote access of the students to their platforms.

For Pre-school, Grades 1-10, the 204 class days shall be divided into 3 blocks which will
be composed of 68 days each. There shall be 3 subjects per block.

For Grades 11-12, the 204 class days shall be divided into 2 semesters and each se-
mester shall have 102 days and shall be divided into 3 blocks composed of 34 days each.
There shall be 2 or 3 subjects per block.

We are also putting up help desks for Library, CEIS LMS and ICT support that students
can call for assistance.

Grading System:

There shall be two grading periods in each block and a summative assessment shall be
given in each grading periods. We are currently seeking DepEd approval because each
subject in basic education normally has 4 grading periods.

Computation of grades shall follow the DepEd computation.

Tuition and miscellaneous fees:

There shall be no tuition and miscellaneous fee increase for SY 2020-2021. Miscellaneous
fees will be discounted based on services that will not be rendered and materials that will
not be used by the students. Details will be provided during assessment.

The online enrolment, which started on May 20, 2020, will continue until July 13, 2020

Online classes will start on July 15, 2020 and all students are expected to start on this day.

Requirement of Online Classes:

1. Desktop or laptop computer. There is no need for very high specifications as long as
there is an updated Chrome browser.
2. Internet connection with a speed of 512 kbps, 1/2 MB.
3. Study space for the student
At the moment, the entire faculty and administration are very busy preparing for school
year 2020-2021 so that we will be able to meet your expectations.

Rest assured that the interests of our students, in terms of their health and of their studies,
are foremost in our minds when we make decisions for the school.

Before the start of classes, we will be sending you a primer that will describe, in more de-
tail, the guidelines and policies for SY 2020-2021.
