( Present the box and the pyramids they previously made of the same base and height.)
1. Measure the base and the height of the rectangular prism and the pyramid.
2. Compare the base of the 2 figure and their height. Be accurate in measuring.
QUESTIONS:
1. What is the shape of the base?
2. Do they have the same shape of the base?
3. How about the height? Are they the same?
ACTIVITY 2:
Group Activity:
QUESTIONS:
CONTEXTUALIZED ASSESSMENT:
Determine the volume of the rectangular prism and the pyramid in the given problem.
1. The Grade VI Garcia Class has a shoe box with the length of 15 cm, the width is 10cm and a
height of 20cm. What is the volume of the box?
2. The Grade VI Aquino Class make a pyramid with the length of 15 cm, the width is 10cm
and a height of 20cm. What is the volume of the pyramid?
3. Determine the relationship of their volumes by adding the volume of the pyramids

(Present the cylinder and cone they previously made of the same base and height.)
1. Measure the diameter of the base and the height of the cylinder and cone.
QUESTIONS:
1. What is the diameter of the circular base of the cylinder and the cone?
2. How about the height? Are they the same? If the same lets perform activity 2
Transferring sugar from cylinder to a cone the other group will use lemon juice
from cone to cylinder be careful in transferring the juice and the sugar so that
we can determine properly the relationship between the volume of cylinder and
a cone.
3. Let us fill the cylinder with rice, and then transfer it to a cone that has the same base and
height. The other group will fill the water from cone to cylinder
.
2. The grade six Garcia pupils filled rice into cylinder; they transfer it to a cone with the
same base and height. Determining the relationship of the volume of and cylinder and
cone.

QUESTIONS:
Determine the volume of a can of milk and the cone in the given problem.
4. The Grade VI Garcia Class has a can of milk with a diameter of 13 cm and a height of
16cm. Solve for its volume.
5. The Grade VI Aquino Class had made a cone with a diameter of 13 cm and a height of
16cm. Compute its volume.
6. Determine the relationship of their volumes by adding the volume of the cones
and a can of milk above.

(Present the cylinder and cone they previously made of the same base and height.)
1. Measure the diameter of the base and the height of the cylinder and the diameter of a
phere.
2. Solve for the area of a circle
Questions :
1. What is the diameter of the base of cylinder and its height?
2. What is the diameter of the sphere? Do they have the same diameter?
ACTIVITY 2:
Group Activity
Fill it full the cylinder with water then put the sphere on it place the cylinder on
a basin then measure the displaced water. Then measure the water left in the
cylinder determine properly the relationship between the volume of cylinder and a
sphere.
1. How much water was displaced ? How about the water left in the cylinder?
3. Is there a difference? What is the volume of cylinder? How about the sphere?

CONTEXTUALIZED ASSESSMENT:
Determine the volume of a can of milk and the sphere in the given problem.
1. The Grade V Narra Class has a can of milk with a diameter of 4 dm and a height of 4dm.
Solve for its volume.
2. The Grade VI Magsaysay Class had a baseball ball with a diameter of 4 dm . Compute its
volume.
3. Determine the relationship of their volumes.

Activity 1 :
Water is indispensable because of its many uses. However, Alegria Central Elementary School
do not have enough supply of water . They need to store water using jars. plastic containers,
drums and water tanks. The PTA put up a project of installing an electric water pump with a
cylindrical tank with a radius of 6dm and 20dm high. How many liters of water does it contain?
Developmental Activities :
A. Let the group discuss the following questions and record their answers or ideas.
Afterwards they can share them to the class.
1. Why is water important? What are its uses?
2. Do you only need to conserve if your place do not have enough supply of water? Why and
why not?
4. What did Carlo’s father install in their house? What is its shape?
Discussion:
1. Let the pupils illustrate the tank. Let them write/put the given data correctly.
Ex. Radius = 6 dm
Height = 18 dm Height = 18 dm
Radius = 6 dm
V= ᴫ ( r2 ) h V= 1/3 ᴫ ( r2 ) h
The formula of the volume of cylinder is derived from the area of the circular base times its
height . While for the cone its volume is 1/3 the volume of the cylinder.
2. Practice Exercises
h = 8dm h = 10cm
CONTEXTUALIZED ASSESSMENT:

Activity 1 :
1. Mental computation solving the area of a rectangle , triangle and volume of a prism.
2. Measure the length , width and height of the pyramid also the the rectangular prism
w = 8cm
H = 10cm
Developmental Activities :
(Present the rectangular prism and pyramid previously made of the same base and height.)
1. Measure length and width of the base and the height of the rectangular prism and the pyramid.
What is the formula of the volume of rectangular prism ? V= l w h
2. Fill the pyramid with water then pour it to rectangular prism . How many pyramids can fill
the rectangular prism? So,based on the activity. What is the formula of the volume of pyramid?
The volume of pyramid is one third of the volume of the rectangular prism.
The formula of the volume of pyramid is derived from the area of the volume of rectangular prim
divided by three. V= 1/3 (l w h )
3. Practice Exercises
CONTEXTUALIZED ASSESSMENT:
Let the pupil make a pyramid then solve the volume of the figure made.
