Wind loads are loads on the building exerted by the wind. Buildings and other vertical
structures shall be designed and constructed to resist wind loads in accordance with Section
207A through 207F of NSCP 2015. The design procedures that will be used for wind load
1. Determine the occupancy category of the building using Table 103-1. The table shows
the five occupancy category with its corresponding occupancy or function of structure.
2. Determine the basic wind speed (V) for the chosen occupancy category in accordance
3. The wind directionality factor (Kd) shall be determined from Table 207A.6-1, it shows
4. The exposure category of the structure shall be determined in accordance with Section
207A.7.
which states that the wind speed-up effects shall be included in the design computation.
If site conditions and locations of structures do not meet all the conditions
Section 207A.9. For a rigid building or other structure, the gust-effect factor is permitted
8. Once the enclosure classification is known, determine the internal pressure coefficient
9. Once the exposure category is known, determine the velocity pressure exposure
coefficient (Kh or Kz) in accordance with Table 207B.3-1. Velocity factor coefficient can
10. Velocity pressure (qz), evaluated at a certain height shall be determined in accordance
Where V is in m/s.
11. The external pressure coefficient (Cp or Cn) shall be determined in accordance with
7, as applicable.
12. The design wind load (p) shall be calculated using the following equations, as
applicable;
Wind Load
1. Occupancy Category: Category IV
2. Basic Wind Speed: 265kph ≈ 73.61 m/s
3. Wind Directionality Factor: Kd = 0.85
4. Exposure Category: Exposure B
5. Topographic Factor: Kzt = 1.0
6. Gust Effect Factor: Gf = 0.85
