Store Operation Procedure

post COVID-19 lockdown


Overview

The Coronavirus pandemic has resulted in a huge


impact on the Indian retail sector and is expected to
haunt the industry for near future.

At Arvind Fashions Limited (AFL), the health and safety


of our employees and our customers is of utmost
importance. In line, we have put together a SOP that is
expected to followed across AFL operations to ensure
safe and smooth operations post the COVID-19
lockdown.

Kindly ensure that the SOP is followed at all times once


the store operations are resumed.
Who is it for?

1 Store employees to declare visit to native and


self-declare their fitness status before joining
the operations post lockdown

2 Store employees to be divided in two teams


working on alternate days / shifts without
overlap
• Store Manager and Asst. Manager to be available in
alternate shift
• Cash / Sale related handover to happen online
• Cash book to be closed by Manager / Asst. manager
in presence of another colleague
• There should be a gap of 1 hour between two shifts
on the same day
• Check staff availability and make Staff Roster in
advance

Store employees to be screened for temperature

before every shift using an infrared thermometer
• Any employee with temperature above 37.4° C/98.6° F
or symptoms such as cough and cold not to be
allowed in store and log to be maintained for such
employees
• The employee should be asked to see a doctor and
report the diagnosis to the store manager.
• The employee needs to produce Fitness certificate
from doctor before joining back
• Sick leave (monitored by store manager) to be
awarded in case of any symptom

Store employees should sanitize their hands


4 before entering the store and regularly thereafter,
especially after meals
People

Store employees to wear face mask and hand

gloves provided by AFL at all times in the store
• Gloves and one time use face masks to be discarded
at the end of shift in a sealed dustbin
• In case of reusable masks, the mask needs to be
washed and dried in sun before reuse, i.e. a reusable
mask should be used on alternate days

6 All the customers to be mandated to use at least


a 3ply face mask and gloves before entering the
store. Mask to be provided to customer in case
he/she is not wearing a mask (Customer with
handkerchief, Scarf, etc. to be allowed in store
only with a 3 ply mask)

• Store employees to bring their own water
bottle and lunch
• Employees should not to share water or food
with each other

Store employees must not take Tea / Coffee
from any local vendor. If possible, tea / coffee
should only be produced in the store

9 No birthday celebration / training / any


gathering until further notice
Infrastructure

Store to be sanitized before starting the

operations and to be further sanitized on daily
basis using appropriate disinfectants

Lift, Escalators and common touch points to be

regularly sanitized. Maximum 2 people allowed
in the lift at any given point in time and use of
stairs should be encouraged

3 Sanitizers to be kept at the store entrance, billing


counter, near escalator and outside lifts

4 Merchandize in the store to be sanitized before


being put on shelf and after every customer
interaction

5 Single use Socks for shoes to be provided to


each customer during trial
Infrastructure

Arrangement to be made at the billing counter to

ensure distance of at least 3 feet between
customers. Stores may only be able to utilize
alternate counters

Awareness posters shall be put for Do’s and
Don’ts inside the stores

8 Use of IPAD and Digital Kiosks to be discontinued


temporarily

Identify the nearest hospital / clinic authorized to

treat COVID-19 patients and ensure that the store
manager is aware of the contact details

Ensure a rapid response team for the operations

team on notice board in each store
Operational Checks

1 Customers to be greeted only with


Namaste.

Drinking water shall not be offered to the
customers

3 Only one customer per 3 square feet area to be


allowed in the store

4 Store employees to maintain at least 6 feet


distance from the customers

Trials not to be allowed for merchandize in the
stores, except for:
• Shoes where trial is allowed wearing disposable socks
(Shoes to be rubbed using sanitizer after trial)
Operational Checks

6 Customers to be provided with an option of no


question exchange within a specified period, if
barcode and tag are intact
• All the returns to be sanitized / steam pressed before
they can be put back on shelf

All the stores to emphasize on digital payments

and employees to sanitize hands each time
after taking the cash from the customers
• Cash received by customer to be kept separate from
the cash given to customer as change and ensure
additional and/or dedicated till for collected cash

Employees to sanitize their hands before

Loading and Unloading of goods to be done by
store employees wearing gloves and masks
• Staff to sanitize themselves after unloading
the boxes and discard the gloves
• Received stocks to be opened after 48 hours
Ensure your Store has the Following

• Non-contact infrared thermometer


• Disposable medical masks and gloves
• Hand Sanitizers
• Anti-bacterial Soap
• Anti-bacterial wipes
• Steam Iron
• Alcohol Disinfectant Spray
• Disinfectant for general cleaning (To be provided by central
Team)

• Garbage bins to dispose used masks and gloves


Things to do While Returning Home

1. Ring up home when you start from office

2. Someone at home should keep the front door open (so that you
don’t have to touch the calling bell or door handle) and a bucket
of water with soap powder or bleaching powder added to it at the
front door

3. Keep things (car keys, pen, sanitizer bottle, phone) in a box outside
the door

4. Wash your hands in the bucket and stand in the water for few
minutes. Meanwhile use tissue and sanitizer and wipe the items you
have placed in the box

5. Wash your hands with soap water again

6. Now enter the house without touching anything

7. The bathroom door is kept open by someone and bucket of


detergent soap water is ready. You take off all your clothes
including innerwear and soak inside the bucket.

8. Then take a head bath with a shampoo and body bath with soap.

9. Wash your clothes/put in washing machine with high temperature


settings and dry clothes in sunlight.
