If there is a fire drill today or an evacuation, the emergency bag is in the overhead cupboard to the immediate
right of the classroom door. There is also a clipboard there with the names of all four classes I teach. Please
have students line up immediately behind you with zero voice. Take this bag and lists with you and go out the
classroom door to your right and then turn left at the end of the hall to go down the stairs to the front of the
building and outside. Take attendance as soon as you get to a place to line up and ensure students remain with
zero voice.
If there is a lock down, turn off the lights and shut the classroom door. Have all students sit on the floor in the
corner by the whiteboard/closets, and along the cupboards. Ensure no students are sitting by the window by the
door. There is to be NO talking.
In my homeroom, I have Haley Bell who is blind. She sometimes leaves at the request of the itinerant teacher,
Lesley Anthony and/or the EA, Carola Meijer who may pull her out to work on other things related to her
learning needs, but otherwise she follows the class with accommodations.

students per group). As a group, have them complete the story. After they have had time to
work, have them share their stories with the other groups.

feelings of others
I can contribute to a group discussion and listen while others are talking
Put up the Pobble for February 18. Read the story starter and then pull up the discussion
slide. Make notes about who is contributing, who is listening, and anyone who may not be
contributing and is being distracting.
Give students the remainder of time to silent read. I will continue to read with students I
have not yet read with.
GCO 8: Students will be expected to use writing and other ways of representing to
explore, clarify, and reflect on their thoughts, feelings, experiences, and learnings;
and to use their imagination
SCO 8.3: make language choices to enhance meaning and achieve interesting effects in
imaginative writing and other ways of representing
Put up a Pobble picture on the “story starter” slide. Read the story starter to the class. The
students will have the rest of the period to finish the story. This will go in the writing
section of their hilroy. Encourage them to be as descriptive as possible. They also need to
watch their conventions (punctuation, capital letters, etc.).
Carry on from Friday. Students will get back in their small groups and finish their stories
that they started. At the end of class, give students time to share.
