The field current of d.c series motor is the same as
the load current it depends upon the mechanical load on the motor shaft.The torque developed by the motor is approximatly proportional to the field flux and the armture current,
T α Ia ……..(1)
By neglecting the effect of magnatic saturation,we
can consider that the torque is proportional to the square of the armature current,
T α Ia ….....(2)
E=V-IR
Where R is equal to the sam of armature and
external of resistance in the armature circuit. E=KNΦ N=(E/KΦ)=V-IR/VΦ N α V/Ia……….(3)
At no load the current draldn by the motor from
the supply is only to over core the losses and it is very smalls The speed at no load is inversely proportional to the current and it is very high to start the series motor it must be started on load .
Procedure:-
1-Connect the circuit with R3 only
2-Set the variable D.C supply on 15.66
3-Record the value of the speed and armature
current and voltage of the motor for different value of R3
