MOONPLUTO SQUARE.

This aspect has much of the same energy that is present with the
conjunction, except that it may be more excessive or obsessive. The Moon indicates
how the mother responds emotionally to her environment when the child is developing
his emotional responses. Pluto represents the transformational energy symbolized by
Scorpio: on the one hand it indicates the ability to transform the self; on the
other hand, the energy of the square usually manifests in a subconscious urge to
control others, to manipulate life so that one always knows where one stands. The
low form of the energy shows more readily in the hard aspects.
In order to channel this energy for constructive use, the formation of the original
pattern must be consciously understood. The mother of this individual needs to
manipulate her universe; she controls her husband, family, friends and neighbors,
and this child assumes her response is normal. The area of emotional control can
be determined more fully by the house placements and signs involved in the square.
In order to be free of oppressive energy, this person needs to understand how he
imitates his mother in his own personal life, how he manipulates those around him,
and the manner in which he attempts to control others. He got the pattern from his
mother. The person with this aspect can be obsessive about people he loves. He
needs to learn spontaneity, for he often plans everything in his life and becomes
upset when his plans dont work out. Creative and intuitive energy comes out when
manipulation and control stop.
The chances are his mother felt rejected when he was very young. The child learned
her response pattern. Feelings of being unwanted, feeling a need to defend oneself
because one expects to be uncared for, become normal. A young person with this
aspect will probably have several unhappy love affairs, for he may not be drawn to
love someone who makes him feel wantedit isnt normal for him. The Pluto square
indicates that this person will be extremely sensitive (perhaps on a subconscious
level) to those who do not respect or approve of him enough. This is a defensive
placementthe individual will be apt to respond defensively to life experience.
Because his mother controlled her environment, the chances are he will try to
insure emotional safety by placing controls in his environment as well. Control
may indicate the selection of inferior types as lovers (for you cant lose a
loser); choosing friends he takes care of (because then they owe you); overgiving
to people, for giving gives him a certain amount of power. This may indicate a
person who helps everyone in his social circleand that gives power as well, for
your friends owe you and have to be eternally grateful.
Owning this aspect isnt easy. The individual doesnt feel sure of himself
emotionally, for the Pluto often operates on a subconscious basis. When it is tied
to the Moon, the body responds emotionally to subconscious stimuli. So his feeling
response may be overly sensitive, and he may feel he must establish controls. In
this individuals psyche is a memory imprint of a woman (his mother) who felt
rejected and who imparted her feelings of rejection to her child. She may have
ignored him, or provided for his comforts but let his need for emotional support go
untended; so, the child feels emotionally insecureand the adult will as well.
At the same time, the aspect is tremendously creative for it can give emotional and
intuitive insights and feelings. Emotional ties have to be built consciously, and
those who have to learn to feel are often as exuberant about their new-found
feelings as religious converts are about religionthey appreciate it more because
they didnt always have it! The trauma of working the aspect into consciousness is
definitely worth it.
