Purpose:
In advancing the Division of Students' vision as 'Partners in Student Success', the Director, Strategy, Planning & Projects, reporting to the
University Registrar, will provide leadership to the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) in the areas of strategic support for students,
strategic plan implementation, process streamlining, unit reporting, organizational and space planning. The OUR provides services to all York
prospective and current students supporting their interest in the institution, through recruitment, admissions, all registrarial functions, financial
aid support, student services, student systems through to graduation. The OUR has a unique opportunity to provide high level, student-
centered service from a student's first interaction with the University through every step to graduation. The incumbent will support the
leadership of the OUR and will work closely with the OUR Directors to provide individual unit support to build, implement and measure a
portfolio wide strategic plan. encourage positive change leadership techniques to deliver services to students (prospective and current
graduate and undergraduate) that are progressive and student-centered. Manage space, resources and projects that are of pan-University
interest and impact acting as a liaison and representative for all OUR units and the University Registrar. This position requires a student-

Education:
University degree required preferably with master's level training in education. Courses and/or experience in strategic and financial planning
management, technical systems and human resources management highly desirable.

Experience:
Eight years in a management position within a post-secondary setting or a large complex organization. Proven track regard of successfully
prioritizing, managing and implementing large scale projects preferably in an educational context. Strong understanding of the theory and
practice of enrolment management and its relationship to the delivery of quality student services. Demonstrated skill in the formulation and
implementation of policies, programs and strategies that support an institution's enrolment management objectives and overarching academic
plan. Past experience with work process review, technology implementation and change management preferred. Evidence of past experience
of a varied nature establishing strategic direction and related execution. A thorough understanding of University regulations, policies and
procedures. Demonstrated ability to handle conflict resulting from change management implementation and/or daily operational challenges.
Demonstrated project management and negotiation skills. Demonstrated skill in promoting collaboration and collegiality. Excellent
communication skills (written and verbal). Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement, initiative and creative problem solving. Excellent
organizational skills including the ability to meet pre-defined deadlines and coordinate a number of projects simultaneously. A proven track
record of working productively and collaboratively with peers and units to achieve desired objectives. An ability to be innovative, forward
looking and to take risks to bring about change and improve service delivery.

Skills:
A commitment to providing a consistently high level of service to the organizational community and the external community and will show
excellent initiative in the design and implementation of new work processes. Demonstrated ability to design and operationalize effective
strategies related to improving student services delivery frameworks and possesses strong project management skills. Demonstrated ability to
articulate and advocate on behalf of the students and work with relevant academic and administrative bodies to simplify policies and
processes to enhance service delivery. Superior analytical skills with an advanced knowledge of postsecondary policies and procedures.
Superior communication skills (both oral and written) in order to deal consultatively with a wide variety of clientele and in order to assimilate
and articulate complex legislation. Superior interpersonal, persuasive, negotiating, conflict management and facilitative skills. Ability to build,
motivate, coach and lead a team. Empathy with student faculty and staff concerns and an ability to work effectively with various university
constituencies and a diverse population and resolve issues amicably and collegially. Excellent human resource management, organizational,
and research skills and will possess highly developed diplomatic skills appropriate to a large and complex organization. Demonstrated
experience and success in providing and/or creating conditions service excellence for a variety of stakeholders such as students, faculty,
clients, customers, colleagues, users, etc. Has a genuine desire to improve the service experience for all stakeholders by treating individuals
with respect, valuing their time, striving for personal best, and, collaborating towards continuous improvement. Shares and lives our divisional

Notes: General office environment including private office.

Attends meetings in multiple locations around the campus and may frequently be away from the private office.

Physical demands include interactive keyboarding skills 30%.

Sensory demands include a higher than usual level of concentration when reviewing fine details that relate to operational activities, academic
trees, impact and outcome of strategic plans. Active listening skills to work with others and synthesize information.

*Compensation:
Beginning with the May 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021 performance cycle, permanent York University employees in salary grades D through J are
eligible for a performance dependent annual Merit Incentive Award as part of total compensation.
