HARPOON FORM 10 THE LATEST INFORMATION

Harpoon Form 10 has been created as a completed version This module contains the latest information available about
of the original Harpoon Form 1. Because of the space savings the submarines it covers. Rather than slavishly repeat the in-
gained by typesetting the information, the forms do not exact- formation in Harpoon, it updates and revises that informatlon

the basic data needed to use the sub in a Harpoon scenario.
Basic Ship Data: The information presented in basic ship data
gives a general overview of the sub itself.
Radars: The radar sensors of the sub are included in one place,
with their functions, ranges, and percent chance of detection.
To use a radar, the player indicates which one is being used dur-
ing the detection check phase of the turn. The referee deter-
mines the Radar Contact Size of the target (shown in the Basic
Ship Data section of the Harpoon Form 1 O) and the range to
the potential contacts, determines the chance of detection, and
then compares a die roll to that chance to determine if the radar

If Submerged: Acceleration per turn= 2 kts/tac turn if running silent. Decelera-

The BQG-5 Wide Aperture Array is not a standard seach sonar. It is manually
steered, so that it cannot search for contacts. Once cued by another sensor,
however, it measures the curvature of sound rays as they strike sensors along
the side of the hull. This allows the computation of distance based on passive
detections alone. It may only "detect" known contacts. For a passive fire
control solution, instead of six contacts in 10 turns, three contacts in five
turns to qualify for a base chance of solution (section 5.3.5.2).

Detection Modifiers:
Has anechoic coa~ing-sonar detection modifier - 10% active and passive.
Has pump-jet propulsor vice propeller-detection chance by passive sonars
- 1 0%. Retains creep bonus up to 1 5 knots. Propulsor design eliminates
cavitation.

Normal Weapons Loadout: 26 Mk48 ADCAP torpedoes, 6 Harpoon, 12

Tomahawk, and 6 Sea Lance.
Can carry Mk48 ADCAP torpedoes, Harpoon, Tomahawk and Sea Lance
(when available).
Can control four wire-guided torpedoes at once.
Swim-out launch for Mk48 ADCAP prevents launch transient.

Class History:
In Service: 1995.
In Class: 0+0+(1); first unit ordered.
