broadband connectivity to 2.5 lakh villages across India. The project was
launched in October 2011. It is a highly scalable network infrastructure
accessible on a non-discriminatory basis, to provide on-demand, affordable
broadband connectivity.
Implementation:
States are contributing free rights of way for establishing the optical fiber network
Bharatnet connect around 1.5 lakh gram-panchayat with optical fiber connection
Benefits:
2) The project would have adavantage like easy maintenance, fast implementation and
utilization of present power line infrastructure
3) The bharatnet project would provide a boost to the economy and would generate
employment during the rollout of the project
4) It will help in expansion of government’s initiative such as Make In India, Startup
India and Stand up India
