National broadband mission


1. To provide broadband access to all villages by 2022
2. Significantly improve quality of services for mobile and internet.

communication infrastructure and conducive policy ecosystem within a state/UT
4. Laying of incremental 30 lakhs route km of optical fiber cables and increase in
tower density from 0.42 to 1.0 tower per thousand of population by 2024.

Deen dayal upadhyay gram jyoti yojana


1. To provide electricity to all villages (i.e. minimum 10 % of the total houses)
2. Feeder separation to ensure sufficient power to farmers and regular supply to
other consumers
3. Improvement of sub-transmission and distribution networks to improve the
quality and reliability of the supply
4. Metering to reduce the losses

1. Also called as har ghar bijli yoana for rural houses
2. Launched in 2017 under which hoseholds under SECC (caste census ) were given
free connection and rest were charged 500 rs.
3. Aim to achieve 100% electrification by 2019 in which year it lapsed
4. Solar lamps are provided in villages where electricity is not reachable

Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS)


1. Launched by power finance corporation in 2014
2. The scheme provides for
• Strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution networks in urban areas;
• Metering of distribution transformers/feeders/consumers in urban areas;
• IT enablement of distribution sector and strengthening of distribution
network

UNESCO
1. Although officially founded as UNESCO in 1945, the organization had its origins in
the League of Nations itself.
2. The Constitution of UNESCO came into force in 1946.
3. Headquartered in Paris, UNESCO is also a specialized agency of the United
Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
4. Currently, UNESCO has 193 members.
5. The US, Israel and Liechtenstein are members of the UN, but not members
UNESCO.
6. The US and Israel pulled out in 2019 citing bias in the organisation in the
Palestine issue.
7. The US had pulled out of UNESCO once earlier in 1984 and then rejoined in 2003.
8. Three countries, namely, Palestine, Niue and the Cook Islands are members of
UNESCO, but not of the UN.
