WHAT IS IT ?
Chain reaction, also known by the name “Rube
Goldberg Machine” is a type of device or contraption
that deliberately overdo tasks that are suppose to be
done in a simple fashion. The Rube Goldberg Machine
was named after an American cartoonist and inventor,
Rube Goldberg.

WHY CHOOSE IT AS THE PROJECT?
Physics can be observed everywhere. During the choosing of many
projects, we found that simple structures such as this chain reaction
can have many physic concept behind it. In fact, after analysing
each reaction among the structures while planning, we recognized
that some of the reactions occurred as a result of a variety of physics
concept.

As a result, we each came up various structures that contain

different concepts in physics we learned in school.

BENEFITS
REAL LIFE USAGE
● View failure as an opportunity to learn
● Assess own ideas in order to improve
● Understand how parts impact one another
● Solve new problems in both expected and innovative
ways
● Realize that creativity and innovation are long-term,
cyclical processes of “small successes and frequent
mistakes”
● Learning the process of complex machine
SUCCESSES

❏ Able to cooperate and help one another.

❏ Have an alternative route in making the project if one fails.
❏ Research about each stations carefully to minimize the fail attempts.
❏ Use previous knowledges and mistakes to improve the model.
❏ Understand that small details can make a difference.
❏ Good leadership is one of the keys in completing the model efficiently.
CHALLENGES
