ABSTRACT
Usually engineering problems can be solved by constructing an appropriate module. Thus, module with
mechanism solves various problem in the industry Rocket Engineering Corporation Pvt. Ltd. Severe constraints
of time and cost should be considered when constructing. In Rocket Engineering Corporation Pvt. Ltd. Also
faces same problem. The ferrous material spread on shop floor is also a big problem in the company. For such
problem we developed magnetic roller sweeper. The magnetic roller and conveyor belt are used to pick the
ferrous material from shop floor because a magnet is a material having magnetic properties which attract
ferrous material because of its magnetic field. This magnetic field is invisible but is responsible for the most
notable property of a magnet: a force that pulls on other ferromagnetic materials, such as iron attracts or repels
other magnets. And conveyors are especially useful in applications involving the transportation of heavy or
bulky materials. Conveyor system allows quick and efficient transportation for a wide variety of materials,
which make them very popular in the material handling.

I. INTRODUCTION
A magnet is an object or device that gives off an external magnetic field. Basically, it applies a force over a
distance on other magnets, electrical currents, and beams of charge, circuits, or magnetic materials. Magnetism
can even be caused by electrical currents. While you might think of magnet such as ones you use in class, there
are many different types of magnetic materials. Iron (Fe) is an easy material to use. Other elements such as
neodymium (Nd) and samarium (Sm) are also used in magnets. Neodymium magnets are some of the strongest
magnets on the Earth.
Conveyors are especially useful in applications involving the transportation of heavy or bulky materials.
Conveyor system allows quick and efficient transportation for a wide variety of materials, which make them
very popular in material handling.
Magnetic Sweeper also referred to as Magnetic Broom, is useful for quick clearing of dangerous ferrous scrap
metals which include iron chips, shavings, nails, screws, tacks, barbed wire and staples etc. Using magnetic
Sweepers is a quick, convenient, safe and time saving way to clean floors etc.
These magnetic Floor Sweeper are made up of strong permanent ceramic magnets which magnetically sweep
the scrap metal lying about without any fuss and the rubber wheels that come with the Magnetic Floor Sweeper
make for easy movement. Also, with just a pull of the rod, all trapped material is released.
II. OBJECTIVES
1. To determination of the magnetic force requirements and selection of rod magnets
2. To design analysis of the Magnetic roller and demagnetization roller mechanism.
3. To improve material handling.
III. METHODOLOGY
Material various factors that ensure the viability of an engineering project, material selection was one of the
most important, but engineering practice generally involves utilizing scientific principles to design components
and systems that perform reliably and satisfactorily (William and collister ,1980). The criteria for design of the
machine component parts were adopted form (Osborne, 1977, Khurmi and Gupta, 2005, Keter, 1980, Ryder,
1977). The factor that determined the selected material for this work are involved in the mechanical properties

such as toughness, strength and hardness. Surface finish interaction with environment, fabrication cost and
availability of materials; ease the fabrication and safety of materials were also considered. This selection of
paper deals with the mechanical design of the system and the various parts used in the system integration. The
power transmission system consists of the drive components like shaft, rear wheel, front wheel assembly,
platform, frame material.
A. Shaft:
We use the hollow shaft and the material of this hollow shaft is mild steel. The tensile strength of mild steel is
400 MPa. This strength is suitable for our project, so we use this shaft.
B. Magnetic Roller:
We use the magnetic roller in that PVC pipe is used the strength of PVC pipe is more. In that PVC pipe we fill the
magnets of high strength, so we use this roller. (Roller of dia. 50 and 60 mm).
C. Flat Belt:
We use the flat belt; it has his strength. This belt is made up of nylon with rubber, so we use this belt.
D. Wheels:
We use the two different types of wheels; these wheels are made up of fiber and rubber. The capacity of these
wheels is 1080 lbs.’, so we use these wheels.
E. Gears:
We use the spur type of gear. These gears are made up of high-speed steel. It has high strength. We use these
gears to drive the roller.
F. Square Pipe:
This square pipe has high strength. It is made up of mild steel. The strength of mild steel is 400 MPa, so we use
the square pipe.

V. WORKING
The ferrous material is spread on shop floor. When we run the design model on it the ferrous material attracts
towards the fount roller in which there is Neodymium Magnet. Then with the help of Convery the ferrous
material is collected in the tray and then we can easily collect the ferrous material with minimum effort and
less injury

VII. CONCLUSION
By using the magnetic roller sweeper Machine, we can easily collect the Magnetic material Lick nuts, bolts,
scrap with a high accuracy & minimum time. We also avoid the accident in industry. In this project using
updated technology the labor has to collect the nut, bolts which reduces fatigue of labor. We improved material
handling in industry .

VIII. FUTURE SCOPE
1. We can make a PLC operated machine.
2. Design and development of the bigger size (lengthwise) cleaner.
3. Incorporate additional mops or a single mop of bigger diameter to ensure 100% cleaning at corners
4. Use of higher durability mop material which can be used for cleaning in outdoor areas including streets,
footpaths etc.
