Basket Washing Procedure

1. Purpose:
The purpose of this SOP is to ensure effective cleaning and sanitization of
baskets is done prior to use.

2. Scope:
The SOP shall apply to the basket cleaning area.

3. Procedure:

3.1. Transfer the baskets to the basket cleaning area.


3.2. Turn on the basket cleaning machine.
3.3. Wait for the temperature of tank and boiler to rise above 65°C.
Temperature of around 75°C to 82°C is preferred.
3.4. In case the temperature goes down below 65°C during washing, stop the
machine and wait till temperature reaches 65°C.
3.5. Once the temperature is attained, put 4 cups of Midchem Parlor Sanitizer
PS56 using the designated 200g cup.
3.6. Check concentration after every 30 minutes using chlorine test strips
during continuous work and add the chemical if necessary. The
concentration should be 162 ppm.
3.7. Run machine empty for around 15 seconds to mix the chemical.
3.8. Place the baskets in the in-feed conveyor of the basket washing machine
and feed one by one after every 10 seconds.
3.9. Allow the baskets to stay inside machine for around 10 seconds to be
washed inside and set the feed accordingly.
3.10. Collect clean baskets from out-feed conveyor and stack.
3.11. Leave for air drying.
3.12. The baskets with high soil or grease should be passed twice to remove the
soil completely.
3.13. After finishing the job, drain dirty water and clean the machine.
3.14. Refill tank with clean water for next use.
