3 WORK METHODOLOGY

3.1 PRE-DELIVERY AND STORAGE PREPARATION

a) Prepare delivery and check site conditions as well as storage
capacity.

b) Prior to delivery of materials on-site, conduct a site survey and make

all necessary coordination with the main contractor as regards to
access of the said material to the designated location of warehouse.

c) Coordinate with the project team of the process of materials and

tools withdrawal.

3.2 INCOMING STORAGE AT SITE

a) Check specifications of material against delivery order.

b) Check any damage that may have occurred during transportation.

c) If there is any evidence of damage, an internal inspection shall be

made by Pacers’ representative together with TBDI’s representative.
A report shall be made and submitted to TBDI.

d) Make sure hazardous chemicals are stored properly and in proper

containers with label.

3.3 CLEANING OF CISTERN TANK

a) Conduct site inspection to the fabrication and working area.
Securing all necessary permits such as work permit.

b) Prepare necessary materials and tools needed for the said activity.

c) Wear proper PPE & prepare proper ventilation when working at

confined space.

d) Flush the water inside the tank.

e) Use pressure washer, brushes and rug to clean the inside of the
tank.

f) Refill and flush the tank continuously to free the tank from residual
dirt, germs, bacteria, etc.

g) Conduct inspection and approval of cleaning result with TBDI Field

Engineer

h) Upon approval, refill the tank with water in preparation of the
Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) Solution mixing.

3.4 DISINFECTION OF CISTERN TANK

a) Fill the cistern tank with water from local water distributor.

b) Add the 22 pails Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) Solution to the water

until the 50-ppm concentration is achieved.

c) Leave the solution for 16-hrs inside the tank.

d) After 16-hrs, flush the solution through the drain and rinse the tank
with water again.

e) Conduct inspection and approval of disinfection result with TBDI

Field Engineer.

3.5 CLEANING OF CWL PIPING

a) Refill the Cistern Tank with water from local water distributor

b) Turn on the Transfer Pump to cleaning the piping system with water.

c) Inspect the farthest point of the pipeline and check if water has
already reached that point.

d) Continuously pump water through the pipeline until clear water is

seen.

e) Conduct inspection and approval of cleaning result with TBDI Field

Engineer.

f) Upon approval, refill the tank with water in preparation of the

Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) Solution mixing.

3.6 DISINFECTION OF CWL PIPING

a) Fill the cistern tank with water.

b) Add the 22 pails of Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) Solution to the

water until the 50-ppm concentration is achieved.

c) Pump the solution to fill the piping system.

d) Inspect the farthest point of the pipeline and check if the solution
has already reached that point.

e) Leave the solution within the piping system for 16-hrs.

f) During the 16-hr period, occasionally check for leakage in the piping
system.

g) After 16-hrs, flush the solution to the nearest floor drain. Rinse the
piping system with water pumped by the transfer pump.

3.7 CLEANING OF OVERHEAD TANK

a) Flush the water inside the tank.

b) Use pressure washer, brushes and rug to clean the inside of the
tank.

c) Refill and flush the tank continuously to free the tank from residual
dirt, germs, bacteria, etc.

d) Conduct inspection and approval of cleaning result with TBDI Field

Engineer

e) Upon approval, refill the tank with water in preparation of the

Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) Solution mixing.

3.8 DISINFECTION OF OVERHEAD TANK

a) Fill the cistern tank with water from local water distributor.

b) Using the transfer pump, transfer the water from the cistern tank to
the overhead tank.

c) Add the 22 pails Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) Solution to the water

until the 50-ppm concentration is achieved.

d) Leave the solution for 16-hrs inside the tank.

e) After 16-hrs, flush the solution through the drain and rinse the tank
with water again.

f) Conduct inspection and approval of disinfection result with TBDI

Field Engineer.

3.9 POTABILITY TEST

a) Pump water through the transfer pump.

b) Take a 3-point water sample from the system. (1st point – Cistern
Tank; 2nd point – Middle part of piping system; 3rd point – farthest
point of piping system.)

c) Take the samples to an accredited water testing laboratory.

d) Check and review the laboratory results. If the samples passed the
laboratory test, the system is good to operate.

e) If the results failed, repeat the cleaning and disinfection procedures.

8 CALCULATION OF 50PPM CHLORINE SOLUTION

618 cu. m – Volume of Cistern Tank

7% (70,000 ppm) - Sodium Hypochlorite concentration
50ppm – required chlorine solution disinfectant
P – litres of sodium hypochlorite solution

70,000 ppm x P = 618,000 L x 50 ppm

P = (618,000 L x 50 ppm) / 70,000 ppm
P = 441.43 L

1 pail = 20L
P = 441.43 L / 20L
P = 22.07 Pails
