Meaning Behind My Classroom
My classroom was made with the intent of creating a fun and hands-on learning
environment for all students to enjoy and feel comfortable in. I decided to take inspiration from
my elementary school classrooms and have included certain items based on how they have
positively contributed to my learning experiences. In the classroom there are two different areas
(Morning Meeting Area and Reading Area). The concept of the Morning Meeting Area is to
create a hands-on activity as we discuss the Month, Day, Year and Day of the Week. The
morning Meeting also requires students to learn about the weather for the day by identifying the
temperature and describing the weather (hot, cold, windy, cloudy, sunny, etc.). The Reading
Area will be used for the designated reading time. During this time, students will be reading
independently. Groups of 4-5 students will be called to the Reading Area and both Teacher and
students will be reading 2-3 pages out loud together. After 2-3 pages are done the next group of
students will be called. The classroom does include three bulletin boards that display all of the
student’s art projects. This was included to encourage students to not be afraid of creativity and
participation. The teacher will have technology such as a smart board and a few computers for
