CONTENT STANDARD : 9.1 SURFACE OF THE EARTH
LEARNING STANDARD: 9.1.1 State the surface of the earth e.g. mountain, beach, hill, valley, river, pond, lake and sea
LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Pupils are able to :
1. State the surface of the Earth
SUCCESS CRITERIA: 1. Pupils will be able to state 5 the surface of the earth correctly
TEACHING ACTIVITIES : : Activity 1
1. Pupils watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cHapdEV9es
2. After they finish watching, the pupils will be asked “What is the scene you saw earlier?
3. All pupils answer will be written on the white board.
4. Pupils will try to find 8 hidden words in the classroom.
5. The teacher will paste 8 pictures related to the surface of the earth on the white board.
6. Pupils who have found the word in the classroom need to match the right pictures on the white board with the word.
7. Pupils who successfully match the right words and pictures will receive a prize.
: Activity 2 1. Pupls are divided into 5 groups for group activities.
2. Pupils will be given a “crossword puzzle” that has shaped hint picture of surface of the earth.
3. The group will have 10 minute to discuss finding answer together.
4. Crossword puzzle answer will show in front of the class by using slideshow power point.
: Activity 3 Pupils answer the questions in the activity book related to the topic they have learned.

LEARNING STANDARD: 9.2.1 State the types of soils e.g. garden, soil, clay and sand
LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Pupils are able to :
1. Give example of types of soils.
SUCCESS CRITERIA: 1. Pupils will be able to state 3 types of soil correctly.
TEACHING ACTIVITIES : : Activity 1 1. Pupils is shown with a pots and a flowering tree. Then, the flowering tree were placed in the pots.
2. Pupils need to respond to the teacher’s question “ Can we plant the tree in this way?
: Activity 2 1. Pupils will be given information about 3 types of soil that are commonly found around them.
2. Pupils are divided into 5 groups for observation activities.
3. Pupils will move to the stations provided by the teacher. At each station there is a sample of 3 soil prepared by the teacher
to record their observations on the content of the soil. (Colour, texture and smell)
4. Each group will share their findings once all groups have completed their observations on all soil samples.
: Activity 3 Pupils answer the questions in the activity book related to the topic they have learned.

LEARNING STANDARD: 9.2.2 Compare and contrast the contents of different types of soils through investigations
LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Pupils are able to:
1. Compare and contrast the content of example given soil.
SUCCESS CRITERIA: 1. Pupils will be able to identify the content of 1 types of soil and compare the content of example given soil.
TEACHING ACTIVITIES : : Activity 1 1. Teachers give quizzes to students about past learning (types of soil)
2. The winner is selected based on a high score.
: Activity 2 1. Pupils are divided into 5 groups to conduct the investigation. (TB page 87)
2. Each group will be given tools and materials. (garden soil, sand, gloves, clay soil, white paper, spoon, forcep and
magnifying glass)
3. Pupils line a table with paper and put 2 spoonduls of garden soil on the paper.
4. Then, pupils observe the garden soil using a magnifying glass.
5. Pupils need to separate the garden soil according to ots content using a pair of forceps.
6. Steps 3 to 5 are repeated using sand and clay.
7. Pupils record the observation in a table provided by the teacher.
: Activity 3 1. Pupils answer the questions in the activity book related to the topic they have learned.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Pupils are able to :
1. Explain observation about the surface of the earth and soil using sketches, ICT, writing or verbally
SUCCESS CRITERIA: 1. Pupils will be able to build a landforms model correctly.
TEACHING ACTIVITIES : : Activity 1 1. Pupils will be asked about the 8 surface of the earth they have learned before.
2. Pupils were given a simple quiz about the surface of the earth before starting the project to buils a landform model.
: Activity 2 1. Pupils are divided by 5 groups to make a landforms model. (TB page 84)
2. Each group is given tools and materials : ( pencil, paper clip, paper plate, white paper, marker pen) and blue, yellow, green,
brown clay.
3. Pupils need to sketch the position of landforms on a paper plate with teacher’s guidance.
4. Then, pupls construct the land forms using clay.
5. Pupils make patterns of the landforms using a paper clip.
6. After that, pupils need to label every landforms.
7. Eacg group should present their landforms model in front of the class.
