LEARNING STANDARD: 5.1.1 Identify the parts of animals. E.g beak, scales, fins, fine hair, feathers, horn, feelers, hard skin, shell, wings, head, body, tail
and webbed feet
LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Pupils are able to :
1. Describe parts of animals.
SUCCESS CRITERIA: 1. Pupils will be able to identify 10 parts of animals correctly
TEACHING ACTIVITIES : : Activity 1 1. All pupils are required to stand up to sing ‘ part of animals body”
2. The teacher introduces the topic that will be learned today with a song that the student sang.
: Activity 2 1.
Pupils are required to be in their own group.

Each group is given a picture of the animal and they should label the body part of the animal in the given worksheet.
3.
Pupils will label the animal picture based on the Powerpoint slides provided by the teacher.
4.
Pupils work will be displayed in the science classroom.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Pupils are able to :
1. Explain through examples the parts of animals.
2. Explain observations about parts of animals using sketches and writing.
SUCCESS CRITERIA: 1. Pupils will be able to state 1 example dan identify the parts of animals.
2. Pupils will be able to make a mobile animals part correctly.
TEACHING ACTIVITIES : : Activity 1 1. The teacher will then ask the pupls what they have learned in the previous lesson.
2. The pupils will respond to the teacher’s question regarding the animal body of rhinoceros.
: Activity 2 1.
Pupils are divided into 5 groups. (TB page 44 and 45)

Each group is provided with materials and apparatus such as 6 red paper plates, 6 blue paper plates, scissors, glue, and
double sided tape, pictures of animals, ice cream stick, string, marker pen and white paper.
3. Pupils need to cut and paste the picture of a bird on a paper plate, then paste a piece of paper and write a body part of the
bird.
4. After that, ice cream sticks should be glue at the back of the plate. (Bird picture).
5. Pupils paste the plates with the labels of parts of the bird’s body onto the ice cream sticks.
6. Then, pupils turn the plate model over. Steps 3 to 5 were repeated with a picture of a deer and paste at the back of the plate.
7. Pupils need to make a hole on the paper plate and tie it up using string.
8. Once finished, pupils hang the mobile and explain the mobile to the class

1. Relate the importance of animal parts to themselves.
2. Explain through examples the parts of animals.
SUCCESS CRITERIA: 1. Pupils will be able to state 3 importances of animal’s parts to themselves correctly.
2. Pupils will be able to state 3 examples of parts found in the animal’s body.
TEACHING ACTIVITIES : : Activity 1 1. Pupils are shown with various pictures of the animal’s part. (Refer TB pg 50)
2. Pupils need to guess the animal’s part on each picture the teacher presents.
3. The teacher will introduce the topic that will be taught today.
: Activity 2 1. The pupils will hear a description of the function of each part of the animal’s body.
2. Pupils will sit in a large circle and play a musical chair.
3. The teacher will play the music and give a picture of the animal’s body for the pupils to distribute.
4. When the music stops playing, the pupils holding the picture needs to stand up and state its function.
5. If the pupils answer the question incorrectly, the pupils should leave the circle.
6. The activity is repeated by playing music again by the teacher.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Pupils are able to :
1. Make generalization that different animals may have same parts of the body.
SUCCESS CRITERIA: 1. Pupils will be able to find the similarities of the body part in the 2 animals given.
TEACHING ACTIVITIES : : Activity 1 1. The teacher placed a picture of a lion and a picture of a tiger in front of the class.
2. The teacher will ask pupils about the body parts of that animal.
3. Pupils answer will be written on the whiteboards.
4. Today’s topic of learning will be introduced by the teacher once all parts of the animal body are labelled.
: Activity 2 1. Pupils are provided with 2 Tree Map related to the body parts of animal.
2. Pupils are asked to circle or outline the same word for the same part of the body on the tree map.
3. Pupils will write the name of the animal that shares the similarities of the part in the exercise book.
Example 1 :
a) Fine hair : Rabbit, cow, cat and rat
b) Tail : Fish, horse , cow, crocodile
