Lesson Description
The students will draw and write to share about the events from one version of The Little Red Hen.   Once the
students complete their writing, they will click on the Flipgrid link to read their story and share their drawing.
After sharing, students will have the opportunity to watch the videos of their friends and provide a reaction of
their choice.
Assessment Plan
Kindergarten students require assessments to measure their growth in phonemic awareness, phonics skills
(knowledge of letters and beginning phonemic decoding ability), and vocabulary. To assess the development of
their reading skills you can assess text reading fluency and reading comprehension. Listening comprehension
skills are assessed until students are able to read and comprehend grade level texts fluently and accurately on
their own. For this particular assignment, students will be assessed on their knowledge of the vocabulary and
comprehension of The Little Red Hen.
Remediation Plan
Remediation will be available for students who score below 75%, “Developing” or “Needing Improvement” or
who struggle with putting the events of The Little Red Hen in sequential order. These students will meet with
the teacher 1:1 or in small group (4-5 students). Teacher will use graphic organizers to review story elements,
order of events, and vocabulary. With prompting and support, students will retell story using Little Red Hen
sequencing activities. Students will then be prompted to login to EdPuzzle. The EdPuzzle video allows the
students another opportunity to watch The Little Red Hen. The EdPuzzle lesson stops periodically for
comprehension checks throughout the video. After EdPuzzle activity, students will work on writing again with
teacher as well as be retested on Quizizz.
Additional Information
Differentiation will be provided for ESL or low students who may be overwhelmed or struggle with topic.
