CONTENT STANDARD: The learner understands and appreciates the elements of

contexts of the 21st century Philippine literature from the regions.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner demonstrates understanding and

appreciation of 21st century literature from the regions through a written close analysis and
critical interpretation of a literary text in terms of form and theme with a description of its
context derived from research.

COMPETENCY:
 Analyze the figures of speech and other literary techniques and devices in the text.

OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, students are expected to:
1. Analyze the figures of speech and other literary techniques and devices in the text.
2. Explain how these figures of speech and devices contribute to the larger meaning of the
poem.

1. ACTIVITIY (Picture Analysis)
 Ask the learners to analyze the posted pictures on the board.
Questions:
1. What do you observe with the pictures posted on the board?
2. What are their similarities / differences?
 2. ANALYSIS
 Le the learners read the sentences posted on the board.
 Ask them what they have observed on the sentences.

3. ABSTRACTION
 Discuss the different figurative language commonly used in literature.
 Call learner to give their own example fro each type of figurative language.

4. APPLICATION
 Using the class groupings, instruct the learners to create a poem of five to ten
lines describing the Philippine President, President Rodrigo Duterte.
