MANIFESTO

I, ​Atharva Surange (160110010)​,​ ​if nominated to the post of ​Institute Badminton

Secretary​, propose to do the following:

Initiatives:
● Create a portal using the database of results, with match analysis, head to
head record, etc, of each player, based on the results from GC, IBL and the
Singles Open
● Make an aftermovie and other promotional videos on the lines of PBL for
Institute Singles Open and IBL to garner more publicity for institute badminton
● Give the court reservation system a proper structure with proper allotment and
reservation of courts for Inter IIT Players, Girls and Staff; link the court
bookings/availability page with the IITB Sports website

Infrastructure:
● Push for the revamping of the lighting system, so as to meet the proper
lighting standards for upcoming 8 courts
● Propose to setup WiFi service in the badminton stadium
● Push for the removal of seats on one of the sides, so as to create an area for
warm up and cool down purpose
● Propose​ ​to​ ​install exhaust fans to vent out the heated air and to compensate
for absence of AC during late afternoon and early evening hours
● Horizontal rods to be incorporated at a particular height in the warm up area
for stroke improvement practice using the hanging shuttle

INTER IIT:
● Push for a part-time temporary coach or a player coach for Inter-IIT practice
● Hold regular matches (twice a month) with local teams in the odd as well as
the even semester
● Hold workout and practice sessions in the even semester, twice a week

Events:
● Conduct the Institute Singles Open in the early even semester
● Conduct the Freshmen Open before the Inter IIT trials in the month of August
● Conduct a PG v/s UG mini tournament

Others:
● Increase the frequency of application of the gum resin powder so as to
provide better grip on the courts, increase the frequency of court mopping
● Incorporate exercises and drill charts in the the proposed warm up area
