Bengaluru: The construction of a metro station near Tin Factory on Old Madras Road has
been temporarily suspended. Reason: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation has gone
back to the drawing board to redesign some aspects to allow for future expansion.

“We will resume the construction of the Tin Factory station once the new design is finalised. Work on the remaining portion of the

DOUBLE-DECKER FLYOVER
The new double-decker project, which passes through at the Tin Factory junction, will accommodate both an elevated metro line (KR
Puram-Tin Factory stretch) and an elevated road corridor that will provide signal-free and seamless travel on the Outer Ring Road,

While KR Puram has been proposed as an interchange station for the two upcoming metro lines (Outer Ring Road-Airport and
Baiyappanahalli-Whitefield) due to the availability of land, there is no clarity whether a similar plan is being designed for the Tin Factory
station. In mid-2017, ITD Cementation India bagged the contract to build the 15-km Baiyappanahalli-Whitefield stretch.

The contractor began work on the stretch about a year ago. The project — hit by delay in land acquisition and slow construction — is
expected to be ready in 2022.

INTERCHANGE STATION?
