 THE DEVICE
A device is an object,
machine or a piece of
equipment designed
and made to solve a
particular problem .
 CLASSES OF DEVICE
There are three(3) major
classes of device namely:
 Mechanical devices
 Electrical devices
 Electronic devices
 MECHANICAL DEVICES
These are machines or tools
that requires human effort to
power them in order to function .
Examples are :
•Spanners and screwdrivers
•Wheelbarrows
•Automobile jacks. etc
 ELECTRICAL DEVICES
These are equipment powered by electricity .
They also require little or no human effort to
power them. Examples are:
•Light bulb
•Electric Blender
•Toast Machine
•Pressing Iron
•Radio. Etc.
 ELECTRONIC DEVICES
They are similar to electrical machines but also
different in other ways . They are designed to
manipulate electric current in a way into doing
interesting and useful things. This as a result
adds meaningful information to the current .
Examples are:
• Television
• ATM
• Digital camera
• Mobile phones. Etc.
