REQUEST FOR DISMANTLING OF ONE (1) UNIT MECHAPHIL RICE MASTER RECIRCULATING DRYER

I. BACKGROUND/ EVALUATION

In preparation to the possible grant from the Department of Agriculture of Recirculating

Dryers to our agency, the equipments are planned to be installed at BSI dryer shed at BSI
compound, Libon, Albay. However, to accommodate the additional 3-units the 1-unit
Mechaphil dryer must be dismantled and relocated.

The Mechaphil dryer has reached its 10 year economic life. The equipment performed less
efficient with a longer drying time and lesser drying rate compared to other mechanical
dryers. It may be attributed to the design of heat exchanger wherin the drying air is in the
tube side and the heated air are on the un-insulated shell side which results to massive heat
loss. The complicated mechanical and structural design results to the challenging repair and
maintenance procedures, thus we experience longer down time and delay on mechanical
drying operations.

II. RECOMMENDATION

May we request for to dismantle one unit Mechaphil-ricemaster mechanical dryer to

accommodate the three (3) units DA grant recirculating grain dryers.
