PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION FLOW:

A company say Dr. Reddy Laboratories Ltd has decided to go


for ERP, they check which ERP Packages are available in the
market- their features, advantages, cost factors like Software
cost, implementation cost , Hardware costs, time required to
implement the package and which other companies in the same
industry have gone for that ERP.

In market we have SAP, ORACLE FINANCIALS, BAAN, JD


EDWARDS, PEOPLESOFT etc.,

Once they finalize ERP package say SAP-they will decide which
consulting firm has to implement. We have consulting firms like
Infosys, Wipro, IBM,TCS, Mahindra Satyam and in Hyderabad
we have ZENSAR (Oak Brook Technologies Ltd)(OBT), NTT data
and SAT Infotech etc. Here also they compare the cost involved
to implement, their experience in the industry, support after
implementation, locations to be implemented.

SAP package has to be purchased from SAP India Bangalore-


The cost of the package will be based on Number of Users and
not on Number of companies/locations. The present version to
be sold is S/4 Hana Finance (earlier version -ECC 6(ERP Central
component)). The present cost is Rs. 1.25 lakh per user and the
companies have to Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) 22% of
the package cost.

Suppose DRL has decided to appoint Wipro to implement SAP,


there will be 2 teams and the team members will be based on
the modules to be implemented- Generally companies will go in
1st phase FI/MM and SD modules.

Core team members will be prepare As is process—What is the


existing process. Issues in the existing process and what is
required from SAP.

Based on As is process—Consultants will prepare to be


process.

Then consultants will prepare a GAP report—It consists of


requirements of company which are not there in SAP. The
consultant will analyze the gaps and decide for ABAP
programs/workarounds/User exits/write to SAP the issue.

The consulting company members and Implementing company


members will decide how many servers are required i.e.,
whether 2 servers and 3 servers. Also they discuss and decide
number of clients required in each server.

The consultant will do customization based on client’s as is


process—

The company core team members will test the transactions.

Once the company people satisfy, in the end the consultant will
prepare customization document

The company core team will prepare end user document

The consultants will give customization training to company

The company core team will give End user training

They will fix a go live date

The customization requests will be transported from


development client to production client

Data for gl masters uploading, vendor masters uploading,


customer masters uploading, material masters uploading, tax
codes uploading will be prepared.

To maintain Help Desk for Users Support

Then go for Rollouts—activating the same customization in


different locations or different companies.
