The graph shows the general trends and amount of non-cash transactions that was done by
the United Kingdom citizens from 1991-2007. During this period of time, there was a
significant increase in the transactions made by debit cards and a steady rise in those made
by credit and charge cards. While rising steadily, credit and charge cards reached a small
peak in about 2004. Meanwhile, the number of transactions made by cheques gradually fell
from the very beginning, although it remained steady between the 2004-2005, it continued to
fall until the 2007. We can also see that it was exceeded by credit and charge cards on
2001.
