The company's main headquarters and processing plant, strategically located in the central region
of the Philippines. This location gives the company easy access to a continuous supply of
premium, quality fruits from all over the country. The Plant site is just a few minutes away from
the seaports and international airport in Cebu. This Plant is equipped with the following
facilities:
● Stand-Up-Pouch (SUP) Line for Purees, Juices, Sauces and Preserves
● Canned and Bottled Preserves Line
● Pudding & Jelly Cups Line
● Frozen Fruit Line
● Four Dried Fruit Processing Plants
● Canned Juice Plant

the small
company that once catered only to the local market, Profood International Corporation has grown
to become the leading producer of various dried fruit, preserves, purees, concentrates, and juices.
Its products are available all over the Philippines and exported to many countries in Asia, the
Middle East, Europe, North, Central, and South America, the Caribbean, and Oceania
Profood International Corporation is the largest Philippine based dried fruit producer and
the standard bearer of world class processed fruit products from the Philippine Islands.
An ISO 9001:2008, HACCP, KOSHER, HALAL, and NSF certified company, their main
headquarters are based in Cebu, Central Philippines. This makes it strategically accessible to
source mangoes year round from throughout the country. At present, the company has four
manufacturing sites located in the north, central, southern, and western parts of the Philippines to
be close to the sources of various regionally grown fruits.
With our sophisticated automated systems, fruit is processed efficiently in a highly
sanitized environment. In the aseptic process, the fruit puree is heated to sterilizing temperatures
then immediately cooled to room temperature within the system before it is packaged into sterile
containers. This technique allows retention of the fruit's natural flavor, color and aroma while
prolonging shelf life.
Since its inception in 1980. Profood International Corporation has remained steadfast in
its commitment to product excellence. This strict adherence to superior quality has earned not
only satisfaction from discerning Filipino and foreign customers but also recognition from
industry partners worldwide.

OBSERVATIONS
A video was showed where the company’s humble beginnings and their journey to what
the company has become in the present. The Profoods’s Mandaue plant has a very peaceful and
quiet compound. The large machinery noises can be barely heard nor noticed any skidding sound
from ageing conveyors belts and tractor wheels. This indicates the company’s willingness to
invest in modern technology in order to ensure an effective, efficient and safe production. The
production machines were not the only modern feature on the 50-acre compound, even the
company’s audio-visual room was something like a state-of-an-art mini-theater. When the
students were showed of the dried mango processing, the tour guide showed the steps on how
riper mangoes are peeked, sliced, and deseeded. During the whole process, it can be observed the
emphasis that the workers put towards efficiency and quality. A good example is when a worker
needs only three to six seconds to peel one mango to be able to achieve a specific quota set for a
day. The mango flesh were then transported to a huge desiccator for drying. After drying, it was
observed that the outputs were conveyed for manual quality check to remove small black spots.
This indicates the company’s dedication in producing quality products for their customers.
Moreover, it can be observed that there is an automated quality checker at the end of the dried
mango production line. It is equipped with a weighing scale and image-processing cameras that
detect weight difference and dark spots apart from the manual procedure. Finally, it can be
observed that the packs with weight and color deviation were dunked into the junk box. It also
features the brief tun through of the fruit processing steps and the technologies they use. It can
also be worth mentioning that the products of the company are exported throughout several
countries. This shows not only the word-class quality of the company itself, but of the whole
country as a capable powerhouse in food production and manufacturing.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Profoods International Corp. company implements zero waste philosophy and thus using
waste of several production processes into something useful. One example is the use of mango
seeds into furniture located in the company’s art gallery. Generally, “zero waste” is a philosophy
of eliminating the generation of materials that have no viable or economic option for end-of-use
management. The generation of waste can be lowered through a variety of options, including
reducing, reusing, recycling, or taking appropriate action to prevent waste through design and
engineering solutions. This is something the company needs to maintain and if possible, take it to
another level to inspire other companies or humans as individuals to take care of the
environment. It may only look like small steps towards a greener world, but these are steps that
ensures that we are moving at the right direction.

EVALUATION
As part of the numerous company that exports food products internationally, Profood
International Corporation came a long way from being a small company that catered the local
market only. Its products yield from various dried fruit, preserves, purees, concentrates, and
juices. The company’s commitment to product excellence is reflected on their industrious
employees who makes sure that the products adhere to the superior quality. With the aid of
sophisticated automated system, Profood International Corporation continues to maintain market
leadership driven by the passion for quality and professionalism that its global customers have
come to rely on. Thus, the company not only focuses on their food products but they also stress
importance on both the society and environment. The company helps small scale farmers by
purchasing fruits from them instead of buying from large suppliers. This enables encourage these
farmers to continue to practice agriculture that will ultimately not only themselves, but also the
environment and the general public. The company also, as previously mentioned, practices zero
waste philosophy. It is a commendable act that will not only help the environment but also serves
as an inspiration for other companies to follow their lead towards a greener Earth.
