Objectives

The objective of this activity is to demonstate the capability of manometers in measuring pressure as well as
establishing the conditions needed for the activity to be conducted.

Equipment and Materials

(1) U – tube manometer

(2) Liquids:
a. Vegetable Oil
b. Sode (coke, pepsi regular)
c. Sparkling Water
d. Vinegar
(3) Weighing Scale
(4) Balloons – 2 pcs
(5)Beaker and graduated cylinder

Procedures

(1) Place oil carefully in the manometer and note the elevation.
(2) Place any type of liquid on the left side and another type of liquid on the right side. Measure the elevation.
(3) On the assumption that the atmospheric pressure is the same at the surfaces ; the pressure at a point where
the liquid is the same should be equal.

(4) Blow a balloon and place it on one side of the manometer. Measure the change.

Conclusion
I conclude using this instrument we can compute the
pressure inside the balloon in an open type manometer
and then we can also compute the other balloon pressure
and difference in pressure between the two balloons using
u tube manometer.

Recommendation
I recommend control the air you put inside the balloon
if the balloon has larger air it will have larger pressure that
can cause spilling of liquid sample on the open
manometer.
