FDC-WTP Fire Alarm System

Commissioning Procedure
I) Testing Procedure

A) Continuity:
1. Check the loop in and loop out continuity (Class A)

B) Detector & Monitoring Module


1. All initiating devices including manual pull stations will be individually operated and
the indications at the fire panel are checked to ensure that the information is correct.

2. Monitoring module check existence for future supervisory needs.

II) Operation of Initiating Devices:


A) Smoke & Heat Detectors
1. Check that the green indicator LED is pulsating
2. Activate peripheral devices randomly using a chemical smoke aerosol and Heat
gun/blower/hot vapour (for Heat detectors)
3. After activation, check that the red indicator LED is steady.
4. Check if the correct message is displayed on the panel display.
B) Addressable Pull Station
1. These will be activated randomly. Check if the correct message is displayed on the
panel display.

III) Operation of Audible Notification Devices.


1. This test has two distinct purposes. To prove the correct messages are being received
on the floors and that the audibility is correct.

2. Initiate one floor for audible alarms at a time and visit the devices randomly to
determine that they are all operational.
IV) Audible/Visual Notification Signals Operating Sequence
1. Initiate a fire alarm signal by operating an MCP.
2. Reset the MCP and reset the fire alarm panel by pressing Reset button.
3. This test can be combined with the device testing.
4. Leave the alarm system active for the first device test, check the audible
signals and then silence the alarm system for the remainder of the device
testing.

VI) Power Failure Test


1. The electrical  power  source  for  the  fire  alarm  panel  will  be  turned  off 
and  panel  tests  will  be performed during battery powered stage.
VII) Fire Alarm Control Panel Commissioning:

1. Visually check for the LCD Display, LED status, wiring and batteries in the
control panel.
2. On the LCD display check for:
a. date & time
b. normal state display
c. alarm state display
d. trouble state display
e. panel buzzer
f. key functions
g. LED display
3. Battery is sized for required backup and check the operation by disconnecting
and connecting the batteries. Check for status indication and charger
operation.

4. Audio operations to be checked as audio in alarm condition
