The other new face was Kida Etsuko. She was Kida Masaomi’s older sister, and she had recently and unexpectedly moved in
with her brother, and he could not convince her to go back. She had medium blonde hair, caught in a ponytail, with messy
bangs framing her pretty face which bore a ressemblence to Kida’s. She too wore the dull high school uniform and she held a
pair of rollers in one hand.
By Etsuko’s side was indeed, Masaomi Kida, who looked anywhere but towards his sister, since he appeared to be slightly
embarrassed. “Etsuko-chan! Promise you’ll be good” He murmured, stuffing his hands in his pockets, as he tried to spot
Mikado or Anri.
Megumi looked around, trying to find her new class. Well, she did have it written on a small piece of paper but then again, it
didn’t help much.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about! I’m always good!” Etsuko replied with a mischievious grin, as she fought the urge
to poke him or nudge him. She liked to tease her brother, but she actually tried to behave and not embarass him – too much –
in public.
Kida huffed. He finally spotted his best friends and a wide grin spread over his face. “Well then~ have fun!” He said, waving
at her, before running towards them.
Megumi succeeded in finding her class, as she noticed eyes on her. She smirked cockily and waved at her new classmates,
before sitting down.
Etsuko shook her head, amused. Children. “Bye bye!” she replied before focusing her attention on her classmates. She hoped
she’d fit in well. She took a sit in the opposite side of the class from Megumi and smiled in a friendly manner at her
classmates.
Megumi’s eyes landed on the next person that walked in after her. She looked better at her. Masaomi-kun’s sister, was it? She
tried to hold back a giggle. This was going to be entertaining.
But Etsuko had no clue who Megumi was, so she didn’t pay her that much attention.
Soon enough the teacher came and announced the new transfer students. Everyone seemed to be surprised at the sight of
Megumi being a relative of Izaya Orihara. But she loved attention, so she didn’t mind it. And they didn’t do much in first day
of school, so soon enough they left, the girl now walking down the streets and back to the apartment she shared with her
brother. She seemed to be lost into her thoughts, but she woke fast at the sight of a crazy laughter and “IZAYAAAAAA”
following short after. Those two…
Etsuko set up for a different direction, but she eventually ended up in the same place, driven by curiosity. She heard the
screams and couldn’t help but approach the scene, although she knew that if her brother was there, he’d tell her to stay away
and out of trouble.
Shizuo was at wits’ end, as he lifted up a vending machine and threw it at Izaya.
Izaya dodged easily, as he chuckled hysterically. “My, my, Shizu-chan ~ As angry as ever!” He teased him, and then glanced
at Megumi. “Ara ~ Megumi-chan! How was your first day at school?” “Bo--Idiot, don’t talk to me in such moments or else
you’re going to die by a vending machine!” She snapped. Izaya snorted. “How cute~”
Izaya skipped over to his sister and placed his hands on her shoulders. “Let’s go home then ~ It looks like you have lots of
things to tell me!” He said, cheerfully. Megumi sweatdropped and glanced at Shizuo. “Oh, hey! It’s Baka-chan!” Izaya
laughed at that. “You really called him that!”
Shizuo groaned at the sight of the nickname, but he managed to control himself and not throw a refridgerator at her, because
she was a girl and he tried to avoid hitting girls if it could be helped. [ eee e un gentleman :> ]
Megumi giggled softly. “So, did you make friends with Etsuko-chan?” Izaya asked, lifting an eyebrow curiously. “Ahh ~ I’ve
seen her, but didn’t have the chance to!” “That’s a shame, seeing she’s Masaomi’s sister and all…” And they were speaking
on purpose, knowing that the girl was around.
Etsuko startled at the sight of her name being called. Did they have a plan involving her? She bit her lip, wondering what she
should do.
As for Shizuo, he had no clue who they were talking about, so he just stuffed his hands in his pockets and listened.
“Why don’t we call her out and ask then?” Izaya asked as he turned towards the place where Etsuko was hiding. Megumi
nodded and waited as well.
Etsuko gulped. She had been found. No, that’s incorrect. They’d been aware of her presence the whole time. She stepped out
of her hiding and watched them.
Shizuo remained silent as he just glanced at her.
“She’s even cuter than Masaomi-kun! ~” Izaya chirped, clapping his hands together, excited. “Oh my, don’t be doing bad
things!” Megumi teased him and nudged playfully. Izaya lifted an eyebrow. “I wouldn’t harm humans, Megumi-chan. I love
them too much!”
Etsuko was at a loss of words as she listened to and watched them. What did they want with her?
“Aw, you scared her Izaya-nii!” Megumi pouted and looked at Etsuko. “Ah, my bad~” Izaya said and shrugged.
„I’m not scared!” Etsuko countered, as she gradually recovered from the initial shock.
“Then speak to us!” Megumi said, tilting her head to the side. Izaya stuffed his hands in his pockets. “Ara ~ Let her be. She
seems to be nervous!”
Etsuko pouted a little as she glanced at Izaya. „I’m not nervous either! I was just thinking how strange you all are!” she
explained, glancing shortly at Megumi and Shizuo. On a second thought, it wasn’t probably the smartest thing to say now, as
it might infuriate them.
“Her reaction was certainly—““Predictable!” Interrupted Izaya, still amused by their little game. “Ah, but look! Shizu-chan is
getting bored. Go and play with him Megumi-chan!”
Shizuo didn’t do anything as he watched her steal his sunglasses. „H-Hey!” he snapped out of it after a second or so and
started to run after her.
Etsuko followed them with her gaze. Then she looked back at Izaya. „Are you Orihara Izaya?” she asked.
Megumi laughed all the way as she put his sunglasses on her eyes and continued to run.
“The one and only!” Izaya replied as he scooted closer to her with an evil grin.
Megumi was having fun and she kept running, showing no signs that she would give up too soon.
Izaya raised an eyebrow, disappointed. “Scared?”
Shizuo was starting to grow more and more irate. And what really bugged him was that girl was that she was an accomplice
of Izaya’s. Who knew what she was capable of.
„No.” Etsuko replied quickly. „Just surprised.”
Megumi eventually stumbled and fell down, straight on Shizuo’s shades, breaking them. “Oops.”
“Oh?” Izaya cooed, intrigued and amused at the same time.
Shizuo felt his anger rise to the top limit. She must have done it on purpose! He grabbed a nearby street sign and started to
run towards her.
Etsuko was starting to feel uneasy, but she decided to show any sign of fear. „What do you want with me?”
Megumi quickly pushed herself to her feet as she giggled and started to run around, entertained.
“Ara, how mean Etsuko-chan~” Izaya faked a sad expression. “I just want to know you better.”
Shizuo followed her around, just like seconds before, but he didn’t found it as much fun as she did.
„… Right.” Etsuko replied, with eyes that said she wasn’t buying it.
Megumi ran down a dark alley, hoping she didn’t get lost.
Izaya chuckled. This girl was something.
Shizuo ran after her. He wasn’t scared at all, since he knew the town very well, that alley included.
Etsuko sighed. „I’d like to stay and chat some more but I must go.” she said and turned her back to him. „It was nice meeting
you, Orihara-kun.”
Megumi stumbled, but tried to keep her balance. She could barely even see anything.
“Oh, so you’re just ditching me? How rude ~” Izaya said, deciding to follow her.
Shizuo slowed down, as he too couldn’t see that well in that dark alley. He wondered if Megumi was using that in order to
escape.
Etsuko glanced at him over her shoulder and sweatdropped a little. „What are you doing, following me?”
Megumi realized she reached a dead end and she couldn’t leave.
Izaya stuffed his hands in his fluffy jacket. “I find you interesting, so I’ll stick around for a while~”
Shizuo had calmed down a bit by now, so even if he knew he had Megumi caught in a dead end, he decided not to go after
her anymore. And it wasn’t like he could see anything in that dark either. He turned around and exited the alley.
„I’m flattered.” Etsuko replied dryly and looked away. She was definiely feeling uneasy.
Megumi stood there, until the steps furthered away before she got out as well and walked down the road.
Izaya had to laugh at that. He, of course knew all about her plans and mostly, everything about her.
But Shizuo hadn’t left for good – he had been waiting for her to come out, as he hid himself behind the corner of a building.
For now he decided to follow her, in hopes he would lead her to Izaya, or that at least he’d learn more about Izaya’s evil
plans.
Etsuko figured bringing Izaya home with her might not be the smartest thing to do, so she decided to hang out with him for
the time being and ditch him later. „Wanna grab a bite?” she said, pointing at a fast food restaurant [ MEC!! ] in their
proximity.
But Megumi didn’t let herself fooled. Although she didn’t notice him at first, she wandered around the town for a while.
Izaya was a bit surprised by her question. An unexpected reaction. “Ah, sure.” He replied, with a cheeky grin.
Shizuo was unaware he had been discovered, as he followed her as quietly as he could. It wasn’t an easy thing to do, but he
tried his best not to grab something heavy and throw it at her.
Etsuko led the way. „Is there anything you’d like in particular?” she asked as she glanced through a meniu and handed him
one as well.
Megumi did her best not to chuckle. When she thought he was expecting the less, she turned to face him, pointing her index
finger at him. “Having fun, Bakap-chan?”
Izaya shrugged. He didn’t really eat very much. “Nah, you pick!”
Shizuo startled a bit, but then he smirked slightly. „Not really.” he admitted.
„Okay.” Etsuko said and ordered two similar plates. Then she gave Izaya one of the trays as she searched for a free table.
Luckily she spotted one soon enough and went to take a sit there.
Megumi titled her head to the side, returning the smirk. “Really?~”
Izaya took a seat in front of her, resting his chin in his palm. He glanced outside the window, catching a glimpse of his sister
and Shizu-chan.
Megumi crossed her arms in front of her chest. “I refuse.” She said simply.
Izaya snickered to himself. This was going to be fun.
Shizuo sighed and scratched his head, wondering what he had to do to make her tell him where that bastard was. „Why do
you defend him?” he asked, unaware of the true nature of their relationship.
Etsuko couldn’t help but think he was weird, as munched on her fries, glancing at him from time to time. „Aren’t you going
to eat?” she asked eventually.
“Why are you so concerned about what am I doing?” Megumi asked, raising an eyebrow.
Izaya almost startled at the sight of her question. “Ah, right.” He almost forgot.
„I’m not concerned about you, I’m concerned about Izaya-kun.” Shizuo replied calmly.
Etsuko chuckled. „You’re funny.” she said.
“More reasons for me not to tell you where he is.” Megumi said, grinning.
Izaya blinked. No one’s told him that before. He shrugged and reached to take a sip from the coffee he ordered.
Shizuo figured he couldn’t convince her with violence, and she wasn’t bad enough to make him want to hurt her, at least not
at the moment. „Then I’ll stick around until you meet with him again.” he declared stubbornly.
Etsuko resumed eating in silence as she kept glancing at Izaya. It was hard not to do so, since he was sitting right in front of
her.
Megumi snorted at his words. “Do as you wish.” She said, resting her hands behind her back, as she turned around and
skipped towards the town.
Izaya kept his gaze on her the whole time, chuckling from time to time.
Megumi felt stalked, more or less. “Are you going to follow me even if I’m going home?”
Izaya showed a wicked grin. “Nothing’s funny. Say, is Masaomi-kun going to show too? ~”
„If that’s where you’ll meet Izaya-san, then yes.” Shizuo replied, as stubborn as before.
„Probably not.” Etsuko replied, seeing as her brother didn’t like the two of them being seen together. She figured he was
elsewhere, having fun with his friends. „What business do you have with him?”
Megumi blinked. Why did he call him “Izaya-san”? She expected something like flea or whatever. “You seem to have some
sort of complex.”
Izaya tilted his head to the side. So she hasn’t been informed about what Masaomi has been through, eh? “We’re just old
friends~”
“I mean that the two of you…share a wonderful friendship.” Megumi replied sarcastically.
“Of course~ He didn’t tell you?” Izaya faked a pout.
„Right...” Shizuo replied through gritted teeth, his voice filled with sarcasm as well.
„N-not exactly…” Etsuko admitted. Actually, she could clearly remember her brother warning her to stay away from Izaya.
She felt like she was betraying him right now.
“Well, then. Let’s eat something!” Megumi said, walking towards the same place where her brother and Etsuko were. Oh, she
loved causing trouble.
“Then why are you hesitating, hm?” Izaya asked, chuckling.
Shizuo pondered for a second, and then accepted her invitation. „Fine.” he said, seeing no harm in it.
„I’m not hesitating. You’re imagining things.” Etsuko retorted. Then she spotted Megumi and Shizuo coming over and
couldn’t hide her surprise, as she followed them with her gaze.
Megumi grinned widely and skipped by his side, looking around for an empty place.
Izaya glanced at them and chuckled for the millionth time that day. Their plan was going on so well~ “Ara ~ But that is not
true. It’s actually even more predictable.”
Shizuo followed her and took a side opposite her at the table.
Etsuko looked around the place as she munched on some fries.
Shizuo decided on a burger and pulled out his wallet to pay for both of them.
Etsuko shrugged. „Hey, it would be a shame to let it go to waste!” she said matter-of-factly, as she resumed chewing on the
food she took from his plate.
Megumi laced her fingers and rested them under her chin.
Izaya laughed out loud at that. This girl was truly fascinating.
Shizuo watched her with interest as they waited for the food.
Etsuko dared to chuckle and soon finished all the food on the table. „Ma~n, I’m stuffed!” she said as she laid back on the
chair and rested a hand on her stomach, in a not very lady-like manner.
“If you say so~” Megumi continued in a sing song voice, looking at her food.
“Oh?” Izaya didn’t show any signs of leaving her alone too soon.
Shizuo sighed as he glanced at the food, before taking a bite from it.
„You don’t have to walk me.” Etsuko told him.
Shizuo’s full attention was on Megumi right now, so he didn’t even notice Izaya himself had been there.
Etsuko glanced at the two of them as well, thinking they were lucky they hadn’t been noticed, and swiftly left the restaurant.
Megumi looked at her food, glancing at Izaya from the corner of her eye. Jackpot, huh?
Izaya thought that his sister was doing a great job in distracting Shizuo.
Shizuo soon finished his burger and gave Megumi a silent gaze.
Etsuko started to walk towards her house, wondering if her brother would be there.
„Are you gonna tell me where Izaya-san is?” Shizuo asked, getting tired of the waiting.
Etsuko tried to think of some excuse to ditch him, but this guy was so persistant!
“Not at all!” Megumi replied, cheerfully. This was so entertaining for her.
Izaya knew that he would only annoy her, but that was his reason of following, after all.
Shizuo sighed with frustration and scratched the back of his head. That girl was something.
„We’re here.” Etsuko announced as they reached their destination. „I’m not going to thank you for walking me home.” she
said, raising her nose arrogantly in the air.
Shizuo groaned, wondering why she took so much pleasure in torturing him. And it was really annoying. It reminded him too
much of Izaya.
Etsuko wasn’t pleased to hear that. „You gotta be kidding me!”
Megumi was too much like her brother. She wonder whether that was obvious or not.
“But I’m not.” Izaya announced.
But to Shizuo the ressemblence between the siblings was definitely obvious. It was maybe the most obvious thing in the
whole world.
Etsuko sighed in resignation and opened the door to her house.
Megumi didn’t care whether he figured out they were siblings or not.
Izaya followed her inside without asking for permission.
Shizuo sighed, starting to grow slightly bored of waiting for Izaya to miraculously show up.
„I don’t remember giving you permission to enter my house.” Etsuko scolded him, resting her hands on her hips.
Megumi glanced at him from the corner of her eye, growing awkward because of the silence.
“But it’s just the truth~” Izaya stated.
„Are you new in town?” Shizuo decided to ask, since he didn’t remember seeing her around before.
Etsuko shook her head. He really was something.
„I see. I knew I hadn’t seen you before.” Shizuo replied. „So why you’ve come here?”
„Don’t make yourself at home…” Etsuko muttered.
“But I have seen you~” Megumi said, giggling. “Ah, I’ve decided to go to school!”
“Too bad I did already. “After all, it wasn’t a new place for him.
„You’ve seen… me?” Shizuo repeated, obviously surprised to hear that. „And what do you mean you decided to go to
school? Did you take a break from it or something?” he asked, intrigued.
Etsuko groaned. „I’ll go change. If you dare to peek… I’ll kill you.” she threatened with a fierce expression, pointing an
index finger at his face.
“I did.” Megumi replied, casually as she grinned widely at the man before her, who was actually Dracula in disguise.
“Something like that.”
“Sureee ~” Izaya said, leaning against the couch, unaffected by her words
[ wtf. Dracula e membru Dollars? O.o ] Shizuo raised an eyebrow. „And why did you stop going to school in the first
place?”
Etsuko sent him a small glare before leaving the room. When she returned she was wearing a pair of dark training trousers
and a loose t-shirt.
„Like what?” Shizuo asked, intrigued. „What better things does someone your age have to do?”
Etsuko was a bit worried for her brother, so she grabbed her cell phone and started to play with it, pondering if she should
call him or not.
Shizuo shrugged. „I’m just curious. Cause in my day, school was a pretty important thing.”
Etsuko dialed Kida’s number and raised the phone to her ear, waiting.
Shizuo smiled. “It may seem like that now.” he agreed. „But it’s more important than you think.” he said wisely.
Etsuko felt chills down her spine at the sight of his chuckle, but she didn’t dare to make eye-contact, and instead stared at her
phone.
Megumi stared at him with a straight face. “I think I can handle it.”
“Is he not answering? D’aww.” Izaya said, smiling sarcastically.
Shizuo shook his head with an amused look on his face. This girl was something.
Etsuko sighed and tucked some hair behind her ear. How could she convince him to leave? “How old did you say you were?”
Shizuo tilted his head. „So, are you going to tell me where that flea?”
Etsuko crossed her arms over her chest, not impressed by his smile. “And you make a habbit out of stalking underage
children? You must have a very sad life.”
„Oh really? Are there?” Shizuo demanded, thinking she was speaking metaphorically, of course.
Etsuko blushed. „W-what do you mean? You’re a pervert! Pedophile!” she shouted at him.
At that, Shizuo couldn’t help bursting out into a loud laughter. Oh, he hadn’t had so much fun in a while. That girl really was
something.
„The police will arrive shortly.” Etsuko announced him, crossing her arms over her chest again, staring down at him.
Megumi tilted her head to the side. She didn’t know he was so easy to entertain.
Izaya waved a hand in the air. Did she really think police would get him?
Shizuo wiped away a tear of joy and then focused [ nu concentrated cum zice proasta aia de engleza ] on her again.
Etsuko couldn’t help but want to beat the hell out of him. „If you’re not leaving, then I’ll make you leave.”
[ da si asa e correct. ] Megumi leaned her chin in her palm, while watching him.
“How tough of you, Etsuko-chan~” She didn’t really know what kind of reputation Izaya had, did she?
[ ba nu. Zic eu ca nu. ] Shizuo watched her too. She was kind of cute. Kind of.
Etsuko smirked. So he still took her lightly. In an instant she raised her foot to kick Izaya’s head.
Shizuo tilted his head. „You don’t look so happy all of a sudden.”
„Officer, this man’s harrassing me!” Etsuko said as she retreated from Izaya. „And he’s tresspassed into my house.” she
added folding her arms yet again.
Shizuo shook his head at that. And he had no idea how he was being set up right at that moment.
Etsuko ignored Izaya and stepped out of the house, followed by the policeman who announced the other units to look for the
suspect named Heiwajima Shizuo.
Megumi only shrugged innocently and waved her legs under the table.
Izaya smirked. He loved getting Shizuo in trouble.
Shizuo sighed. Such a child she was. And it was to be expected, considering how young she was, plus the fact that she was
the sister of that flea. Did that make her a flee as well...?
Etsuko frowned. She wanted this to be over with. The policeman invited them to sit on the back of one of their cars until they
found Shizuo in the town.
Megumi wasn’t a child. She just took the image of one to make sure no one would know her purposes. Just like her brother.
Izaya waved a hand in the air, saying he was going to leave.
Megumi’s eyes rose as she heard the siren. “Ah? What’s going on?” She asked, curiously.
„Framed me for something. Again.” Shizuo replied through gritted teeth. The people around gasped, startled by the menacing
looking men in uniforms.
Etsuko waited outside.
Megumi only watched in silence. She knew this was her brother’s job and wouldn’t betray him.
The police took a struggling Shizuo to the car and then they were to head downtown.
„Heiwajima Shizuo...-kun?” Etsuko asked, stepping closer to the car. Shizuo frowned. She was that girl from earlier. „It’s...
it’s not nice of you to ask people to tresspass others’ homes.” „I didn’t do it!” Shizuo snapped. „I see.” Etsuko muttered and
then the policeman forced Shizuo to finally enter the car.
Megumi stepped in silence out as well, as she rested her hands behind her back. Izaya was watching from the second floor
with a binnacle.
Etsuko turned toward Megumi. „He didn’t do it, did he?” she asked.
“He does look like quite a one who’d do it.” Megumi replied. Izaya smirked. His sister didn’t disappoint him.
Etsuko grabbed Megumi by the collar of her shirt and pulled her closer. „Tell your brother he’s a jerk that should just go in a
corner and die!!” she shouted angrily into her face. A few people on the street turned their heads.
Megumi slapped her hand away. “Please refer from saying such rude things in public, Etsuko-san. People might stare.” She
with a sarcastic look, before walking away.
Etsuko only glared as she watched her. But she was sure the message got through. Then she pulled out her phone and dialed
her brother’s number again.
Megumi only walked home, as she glanced around the place for the passing cars. Izaya skipped down the street as well,
happily.
„Where the heck are you?...” Etsuko muttered into the phone. That brother of hers was starting to piss her off.
Megumi sighed contently as she eventually met up with Izaya. “ Did he treat you nicely, Megumi-chan?~ “ He grinned. “Of
course he did. Though, he wouldn’t stop asking about you.” “As expected from Shizu-chan!”
Kida eventually did answer the cellphone. “Moshi, moshiii…?~” He sang.
Meanwhile Shizuo had reached the prison cell where he was to spend some time.
„WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU???” Etsuko shouted.
Megumi watched as her brother was being a creeper. Joking. He skipped down the street the whole time, as she followed
silently behind him.
Kida tilted his head to the side a bit. “Right behind you.”
„Huh?” Etsuko turned around only to see the clueless face of his brother. „What’ve you been doing until now? Why haven’t
you returned my calls? Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been?” she demanded, stepping so close to him that their
foreheads nearly touched.
Megumi and Izaya reached their apartment. Of course Megumi couldn’t stand Namie, so she headed straight to her room,
leaving her brother deal with his stupid woman.
Kida startled a bit as he looked at her with an apologetic look. “I’ve been hanging around …” He replied. “What’s bothering
you?”
Etsuko softened at the sight of that look on her brother. „Orihara Izaya...” she said through gritted teeth. „He’s harassed me at
home and then set Heiwajima Shizuo up.”
Megumi sat on her bed and pulled out her notebooks to study for school, like a good student.
Kida’s eyes widened. That bastard…! He always got away. And he promised he’d stay away from his sister!
„He’s gone now, but he was pretty damn annoying. You should be more careful when you choose your friends.” Etsuko told
him.
“He’s not my friend.” Kida protested with a frown. “You need to stay away from him.”
Etsuko frowned. She knew it. That bastard! „Let’s go.” she said then and took his hand.
„Home.” Etsuko replied with a bright grin. „I have to make you sure you don’t fall behind with your studies, since you ‚hang
around’ so much.”
“Would you like me to make you some hot cocoa?” Etsuko asked as she swang their intertwined hands back and forth in the
air.
Etsuko chuckled. She liked coddling her brother as often as she had the chance. It was her duty as an elder sister after all.
Etsuko was wondering what kind of cake to make that night to celebrate the success of their first day at school.
Kida threw his bag on the couch and took his jacket off.
Megumi nodded in acknowledge and went back to her room.
Etsuko put on her apron and a kerchief and disappeared into the kitchen to make the snacks. She almost looked like a
housewife.
Kida sat in the living room, not bothered to look at his homework.
Megumi yawned as she rolled around.
Etsuko sang happily as she boiled the milk and made the dough for the cake. She might not look it, but she was a decent
cook.
Etsuko appeared after a while, holding two cups of steaming hot cocoa and smiled at him brightly.
Kida blinked and returned the smile and then reached to his cup. “Thank you~”
Megumi wanted to go out, so she stood up and grabbed her jacket.
“Welcome.” Etsuko replied cheerfully. “The cake’s ready too.” she added pointing at the kitchen door and sniffed its
unmistakeable aroma.
Etsuko looked away, flustered. “I… I should go check on the cake…” she mumbled and ran off to the kitchen.
Etsuko returned soon with two plates, two thick slices of cake on each. She seemed rather proud of herself. She placed the
plates on the table and then let herself fall on the couch too, by Kida’s side.
Kida chuckled lowly as he took his plate and then the fork and nibbled silently. “ Ah, you really are the best, sister!”
Meanwhile Megumi wandered by herself down the dark streets.
“Come on, you don’t need to praise me so much! Hahaha!” Etsuko laughed awkwardly and slammed his back.
Kida almost choked with his cake and nodded.
Megumi headed towards the police station.
Etsuko chuckled. “So, does this charming brother of mine have a girlfriend?” she asked innocently.
Kida raised an eyebrow. “Girls adore me! What would it be if I were to break their cute hearts?”
Megumi entered the police station stubbornly, walking past an officer.
Etsuko couldn’t help but laugh at that. “So you have that many admirers? Just as expected from a Kida!” she said and patted
his shoulder.
Meanwhile, Shizuo was sitting in his cell, looking up at the sky through the window.
Etsuko chuckled and then stuffed her face with her remaining cake.
Shizuo didn’t seem to notice. He was thinking about getting his revenge on the flea.
Etsuko chuckled and disspeared into her room. She appeared later behind Kida wearing only her pure white lingerie, and her
hair was worn down. “I’m taking a bath. Care to join me?”
Shizuo turned his head and jumped on his feet the instant he recognized her.
Kida startled as he looked at her. She was…stunning. Heck, she was his sister! “Oh? I wouldn’t mind~”
Megumi stared at him in silence.
“Oh? Really?...” Etsuko’s face turned red. She had actually expected him to refuse her. “Ah, it’s gonna be like the old
times!...” she smirked then.
“What do you want?” Shizuo asked Megumi. He knew she wasn’t directly involved in this, but it wasn’t exactly pleasant to
see her either.
Kida grabbed their fluffy bath robes as well and headed to the bathroom.
“So? He’s not here.” Megumi replied boldly.
Etsuko undressed and then jumped into the water-filled tube, causing some water and bubbles to spill on the floor.
“So you’re saying he didn’t send you here…?” Shizuo asked raising an eyebrow. He knew Izaya wasn’t past using his sister
as a mignon.
Kida grinned evilly and cooed at her, splashed her with water.
“I don’t care.” Megumi said, shrugging.
Etsuko chuckled. It was amazing how much they ressembled. It was almost as if they were twins.
Shizuo gritted his teeth.
Etsuko nodded. “Fine!” she offered and turned her back to him.
Shizuo just glared at her. The ressemblence to her brother was more than he could handle.
Kida smiled and took the sponge and then the soap and started to wash her back.
“Don’t give me that look, Shizu-chan~” Megumi said.
Etsuko blushed. “Hi-hitting on your own sister?... How nasty of you, Masa-chan...” she said making an innocent pose.
Shizuo went and silently sat down on the small thin bench in his cell.
Etsuko made the bed and then threw herself on the bed, not bothering to take off her bath robe. “You can come in~!” she
chirped and made a sexy pose.
Shizuo crossed his arms over his chest and looked away. She was so stubborn she was driving him crazy.
Kida put on his own bath robe and then stepped in her room, almost freezing. “What’s this, Etsuko-chan?”
Megumi leaned against the metal bars.
Etsuko just grinned cheekly. “Just your lovely sister waiting for you to come to bed.”
Shizuo still refused to look at her. Why didn’t she realize the fact that he wanted her gone?
Etsuko quickly crawled under the bedcovers. “Good night.” she said flatly.
Shizuo frowned back. So she was there because of Izaya, after all…
Etsuko started to shriek at that. “Ba-Baka Masa-chan, wa, what are you doing…?”
Shizuo didn’t really buy that. “Go home. I’m not in the mood to play with you.”
“St,stop! My robe’s coming off!...” Etsuko struggled to escape through giggles and tears of laughter.
Shizuo folded his arms and looked away once more.
“You don’t really deserve this, but…” Etsuko said and reached to kiss his cheek.
Shizuo leaned against the wall and looked out the tiny window.
“Sounds kinky…” Etsuko said rubbing at her chin as she watched her brother.
Shizuo sighed. She ressembled her brother too much.
The look on Etsuko’s face said that she was already fantasizing about that. “Hao… Masa-chan gave me permission to do
kinky stuff with him…” Etsuko mused dreamily.
Shizuo didn’t address her any more words for the time being. And it wasn’t like he wanted her to keep him company, or
something.
“But we’re siblings, Masa-chan… It’s not allowed…” Etsuko answered, her face still red.
“How’s that girl…Eriko?” Shizuo asked, reffering to Etsuko of course. He was sure Izaya was going to do bad things to her.
“Jeez!” Etsuko exclaimed and pushed him away. “Stop tempting me!”
Shizuo glanced at her amused.
Kida turned the lights off and pulled the covers over them.
“Shame.” Megumi said, shaking her head.
The next morning, Etsuko was was holding her brother’s hand and smiling in her sleep.
As for Shizuo, he had falled asleep on the bench, an arm wrapped protectively around Megumi.
Kida smiled and rose from the bed. “Good morning sunshine!” He declared, happily.
Megumi didn’t look close to waking up.
Etsuko giggled. “Good morning, brother mine!” she replied rising from the bed as well.
Shizuo wondered what to do. She looked so innocent, so frail, as he looked at her… “Hey, wake up, kiddo! You’re gonna be
late for school!”
Etsuko pouted, but she knew he was right. “Ok, some other time, then!” she said cheerfully and went to brush her teeth and
get dress. She put on a pair of daisy dukes and a yellow tank and then the boring school uniform. She also pulled her.hair up
with messy bangs framing her cute face. That was her signature hairstyle.
Shizuo chuckled lowly at that.
Kida in the meanwhile prepared eggs with bacon for breakfast, before he disappeared to get ready himself.
Megumi glared at him and stood up.
Etsuko prepared her school bag and rollers and headed for the kitchen.
Shizuo wondered why she seemed so upset.
Kida threw some books in his bag and then went back to the kitchen.
Megumi cleared her throat. “Later, then.”
Etsuko glanced at him. She finished eating first and then took down a water of glass in an instant. “Done!” she screamed and
grabbed her school bag.
Shizuo was thinking that maybe she was just a child after all… She was almost cute. Almost.
Kida snorted and put the dishes in the sink and grabbed his coat and bag and dashed after her.
Megumi walked outside, where Izaya was standing with her school-bag. “Yare, yare, making me wait like this…” He
complained. “Sorry.” The girl said but didn’t mean it at all, as she walked past him.
Etsuko put on her rollers and then rushed outside. “Don’t forget to lock the doo~r!”
Kida nodded and did so, before he walked to catch up with her.
Izaya looked at Megumi and snorted. “You’re a mess.” He added. “Well, what do you expect?” She asked, bluntly. “Ah,
that’s right. You spent a night with a brute, after all.” “…Shut up.”
Etsuko chuckled at him over her shoulder and then fastened her pace. She was on rollers. He couldn’t compete with that.
Etsuko was having a good time. And when they arrived in the school yard… she bumped into someone, causing both her to
fall over that person. “Please excuse me…” she mumbled.
Izaya looked down at her. “Ara, if it isn’t Megumi-chab’s new classmate!” He said, with a fake smile. “And your new
girlfriend.” Megumi added. “Ah, but Megumi-chan, please be aware of the fact that I have to share my love equally with
every human~ “ He chirped.
Etsuko froze at the sight of those voices. She stood up instantly and dusted her clothes.
Kida caught up and glared at Izaya. “Ah, Masaomi-kun is here too!” Izaya said, delighted. “And the union is complete!”
Megumi said, clapping her hands as she smirked.
Etsuko ignored them. “Masa-chan, come on, you’ll be late for class.”she told her brother and grabbed his hand, determined.
Izaya shook his head disappointed. “Megumi-chan, have you heard? Yuuhei-san arrived in the town recently.” He said just to
draw attention. He knew Etsuko liked him. Megumi gave a nod. “He’s probably around already.”
Etsuko stopped for a moment. Were they talking about Hanejima Yuuhei? The Hanejima Yuuhei?...
“Maybe he’s coming to your school for the ball” Izaya suggested, glancing at Etsuko. Ha, jackpot. Megumi chuckled. “He’d
have to get a bodyguard.” “Ah, Shizu-chan will most likely be around as well.”
Etsuko couldn’t help a sqeal of joy at that. But Heiwajima-kun… she was a bit afraid of him.
“Well then, let’s go. You’ll be late for school~” Izaya chirped and skipped down the street, followed by Megumi.
Etsuko glanced at her brother. “See you in class!” she said and left him.
Etsuko switched to her sports shoewear and then headed to class, trying not to pay Megumi much attention.
Megumi went to sit in her place, noticing a few people staring after her, but none daring to say anything. She was an Orihara
in the end.
Etsuko went and occupied her own seat in the opposite corner of the class and took out her book and notebook.
Megumi glanced at Etsuko and only chuckled before the teacher appeared.
Etsuko wasn’t paying much attention. She was focusing on scribbling something at the end of her notebook.
Megumi sighed a bit, not paying much attention to the class herself.
Etsuko was drawing a heart around the writtings she’d made vertically. There were two names squeezed together:
幽
平 (Yuuhei)
and next to it
悦
子(Etsuko). She sighed contently as she retraced the heart shape.
Megumi was having different thoughts running through her mind, which distracted her from the class and passed pretty fast.
Etsuko didn’t have any reaction when the bell rang. “Ooh~, do you have a boyfriend, Kida-san?” a classmate asked peaking
over her shoulder. “What? Ahahaha, of course not!” Etsuko replied laughing loudly and awkwardly, as she snapped her
notebook close. “This Kida Etsuko is not yet to dedicate herself to a single male!”
Megumi rose up from her seat. “What is it to be expected? She’s Masaomi’s sister in the end. And he isn’t known to be quite
the ladies type…” She added. “Oh! It’s just as you said, Orihara-san!”
“Ohw, how scary.~” Megumi cooed dramatically. She had the same sense of dark humour like her brother.
Etsuko rose from her seat too and threw at Megumi all the notebooks at hand.
Megumi turned around and looked as if she was spinning, as she threw her hands in the air. “Missed, missed and missed~”
Etsuko couldn’t believe it. That idiot dared to mock her like that and thought she could get away with it? No way. She walked
up to her, determined to kick her ass, when the teacher arrived and told them to take their seats.
Megumi smirked evilly, but she was almost sure she’d try to start another fight right after the class would end.
Etsuko was sure of it too. And if it didn’t happen now, then it would happen another time. They seemed destined to confront
each other, sooner or later.
Etsuko was tipping her fingers against the desk too. She was just as bored. The only thing that kept her awake through the
day was the plans she had for later that day.
The class felt like hell, but it still passed somehow. Megumi stood up. It was lunch time!
Etsuko searched for her lunch in her school bag, and then headed outside to savour it in the yard.
Etsuko ignored Izaya too. He was nothing more than a jerk after all.
Megumi snorted. Izaya didn’t really stop by her side, but he walked to greet his sister because he knew that Etsuko was an
attention craver.
Megumi walked over with Izaya, leaving the girls aside for a second.
Etsuko was sure that they were up to no good. They had after all framed that Heiwajima guy, and they were being mean to
both her and her brother.
Megumi giggled at the sight of some words Izaya was telling her.
Megumi looked at Izaya and snickered. They looked like planning something.
Etsuko was drooling as she stared at her king size bento. Just then, the girls started to squeal and croweded in front of the
school gate.
Megumi glanced at Izaya and he glanced back at her and chuckled, as they both skipped in front of the school gate.
Etsuko raised an eyebrow. There seemed to be some kind of a celebrity passing by. But considering Masa-chan had told her
to stay away from this kind of… “YUUHEI-KU~N! ♥” the fangirls squealed at the movie star.
And indeed, Hanejima Yuuhei was there, followed closely by Heiwajima Shizuo. Etsuko was behind the crowd, jumping on
her toes to see.
The Orihara siblings managed to get in front of the gates and look at them. Yuuhei watched the girls with a blank face, like
always, but gave a small wave in return, causing a few girls to faint.
Shizuo shook his head at the sight of that. Such immaturity. His eyes fell on the Orihara siblings and then looked away,
noticing Etsuko. “Ah, isn’t that Eriko-chan?” he asked flatly. Everyone turned to look at Etsuko, envious on the fact that
Yuuhei’s companion seemed to know her name. Etsuko instinctively took a step back. They all looked like dangerous beasts.
Shizuo invited her to come closer, and miraculously enough, everyone did make room for her. “He-hello, Yuuhei-kun. And
Heiwajima-kun.” Etsuko stuttered a little.
“ Two yens that she’s going to faint.” Megumi whispered to Izaya. “You’re on it.” He replied in return with a low chuckle.
Yuuhei looked at Etsuko and then at Shizuo. They were friends?
Shizuo groaned. Etsuko pouted. Wasn’t that pressure enough? Why did they have to go on and do that to her?...
“Yuuhei, she said hi. It’s rude to leave a lady waiting.” Shizuo told his little brother.
Etsuko blushed slightly. Yuuhei-kun was there, and he was talking to her, and staring deeply at her… “Ho-how are you?” she
attempted a dialogue, trying to ignore the staring crowd.
Yuuhei felt a bit uncomfortable, since he was afraid that the girls were going to assault him, but he didn’t show it.
Megumi and Izaya snickered.
The bell rang soon enough, announcing the start of the afternoon class, but the cheering crowd look. Etsuko scratched her
cheek awkwardly. Shizuo sighed. His brother was really helpless.
Megumi pouted and took two yens and handed them to Izaya. “Ah, it’s nice making deals with you~” He said. “Shhh...” She
scoffed.
Yuuhei tilted his head to the side.
Etsuko took a deep breath. Don’t make a scene, don’t make a scene, she told herself.
“We should go.” Shizuo announced placing a hand on Yuuhei’s shoulder.
Shizuo gathered all of his will power in order to not attack Izaya.
Etsuko swallowed hard. She was to nervous to even say goodbye out loud…
Izaya was getting pretty bored so he looked at Megumi. “I’ll be going then~” He chirped, aiming to go and annoy Shizuo.
Etsuko looked down. He just left, without a word… Maybe he hadn’t been so impressed with her. It was all her fault. She
wasn’t attractive enough, cheerful enough, special enough…!
Megumi didn’t feel like going back to class, so she followed her brother, as they walked past Etsuko.
Etsuko was actually going to class to pick up her things, deciding to skip the rest of the day. She just wasn’t in the mood for
school.
Megumi glanced at Etsuko and snorted. She was a good girl, huh.
Etsuko managed to disappear before the teacher showed up, thank goodness, and then headed to town.
Shizuo startled when someone bumped into him and turned around in an instant, raising Etsuko by her collar in the air. He
was ready to throw her away when he recognized her. “Eriko-chan, don’t you have class now?” Shizuo interrogated as he put
her down. Etsuko was about to tell him it was none of his business, when she saw Yuuhei. “I, I wasn’t stalking you!” she said
quickly waving her hands in the air and laughed awkwardly.
“Five yens that Yuuhei won’t take interest in her at all.” Megumi whispered to the informant, who nodded in delight.
Yuuhei glanced at Etsuko. Such fan-girls were already obvious to him.
Etsuko gulped. “Where are you heading, if I may ask?” she asked trying to sound natural, even if her knees were trembling.
Shizuo pointed at a café nearby. Etsuko blinked. “What a coincidence!”
Megumi and Izaya looked at each other and in a swift move, they were already at the cafe.
Yuuhei blinked. “Have a seat with us, then.” He decided, since she seemed to be friends with Shizuo.
Etsuko looked at Yuuhei slightly surprised. “I… I can’t do that…!” she said and scratched the back of her head. Ah, it was so
embarrassing… “Why not?” Shizuo asked as they entered the café. “Well…” Etsuko started, playing with her fingers.
“Ah, how disappointing.” Megumi commented. “She’s such a coward, I’m starting to lose interest in her.” “Then, what are
you going to do, Nii-san?~ “ “That’s a surprise!”
Yuuhei shrugged in a careless manner. But really, he was surprised that she didn’t freak out in front of him.
Shizuo led his brother to a table in the corner, since he didn’t want the fans to stare intently at him and who knows, maybe
even attack him.
Etsuko was watching from afar.
x Corrupted x: Izaya: Nu ma grabi, nu ma grabi...eu spionez cu ochiul meu...
Another waitress was about to walk over Shizuo and Yuuhei’s table to take their order, when Etsuko jumped into action. She
was faster. “Can I take your order?”
Shizuo looked at her surprised. So she really worked there, huh.
Izaya was ready to burst into a hysterical laugh but Megumi covered his mouth and shook her head. *Shhh.”
Yuuhei looked up at her. So that’s the reason she couldn’t accept his invitation.
Etsuko was holding a small notebook. “I’d like a cappuccino.” Shizuo said and Etsuko wrote down. Then she turned to
Yuuhei with a bright smile.
“This is...” Izaya could hardly hold back a giggle. “Take a picture and shut up.” Megumi scolded him.
“Do you serve milk here?” Yuuhei asked.
“Mi, milk…?” Etsuko sweatdropped a little. “Sure, I can bring you a cup of milk!” she announced cheerfully. Shizuo
couldn’t help a small smile.
Etsuko glanced in the direction from which she heard Izaya’s voice and she sighed. Looked like the pedophile stalker was at
work again. But she had to treat all clients equally… otherwise she’d make a bad impression in front of Yuuhei-kun.
She told the brothers that their order should be ready soon and then advanced on her rollers up to the other pair of siblings
with a straight face. “What do you want?” she asked Izaya flatly.
Shizuo didn’t like that. The flea was there to cause trouble, like he always did!
“Ooh~ How mean” Izaya faked a hurt expression before he nudged his sister with a sly smile. “Ladies first.” He said,
cheekily. Megumi glanced at him. “I’d like a muffin.” She replied. Izaya chuckled. “Ah, Simon would feel bad, but I’d like
sushi!”
Etsuko wrote that down. “Fine. Your order will be ready. Sometime.” She didn’t feel like being overly friendly to them.
“Kowaii~ But your boss is a very good acquaintance of mine.” Izaya replied sweetly. Megumi smirked. “You could have her
fired.” “I could ~ “
That bastard. But he was probably telling the truth. Etsuko forced herself to pull a smile – which, well, looked very, very
forced. “My, I’m sorry for my rudeness.” she said faking a sweet voice. “Please forgive me~”
“But that tone of yours doesn’t really make me want to forgive you.” Izaya replied with a sarcastic smile.
Etsuko wanted to shout that his forgiveness was the last thing she needed, but that would make a bad impression to Yuuhei-
kun, who might have been watching, and even more than that, it could get her fired. “Then what kind of tone would make
you forgive me?”
“You should really try stopping to impress people around here.” Izaya stated, suddenly displaying a cruel grin. “Especially
Hanejima-kun.” He said, drawing attention from other customers, including Yuuhei himself.
“Haha. You really are predictable, Etsuko-chan! You would’ve been doing other things by now! For instance, ignoring me
and Megumi-chan, but you are not.” Izaya said, as the customers started to whisper towards each other. “It’s the same with
Shizu-chan! He’s behaving because he doesn’t want to be turned down by his little brother!”
“You really think you know everything, don’t you.” Etsuko said. “You truly have a sad life.”
Shizuo couldn’t help but admire her self control. If he was in her shoes, standing in front of Izaya, he’d long since threw him
out the window.
“As a waitress working here, I can’t ignore my clients. And you are my client right now!” Etsuko told Izaya triumphantly and
pointed a finger at him.
“How interesting, Etsuko-chan. But of course, there are a thousand waitress around here. Just like the one that tried to take
the order to Yuuhei-san’s table, but you didn’t grant her the permission.” Izaya replied, ignoring her statement.
Etsuko let her hand fall by her side and grit her teeth. She couldn’t come up with an excuse for that, since he was right on the
money.
Izaya smirked. He had embarrassed her in front of everyone, including her beloved Yuuhei. Megumi giggled.
“Whatever.” Etsuko said and turned on her heels to leave. She was only wasting time there, arguing with him.
Izaya leaned in his seat and sighed contently. Megumi was listening to music.
Yuuhei didn’t even glance at her, as he stared at the milk with a blank expression.
Megumi seemed to be enjoying herself with the music, as Izaya chuckled and patted her head.
Etsuko turned to leave. She didn’t want to act like a creeper. She understood Yuuhei’s feelings now, after she had been teased
so much by Orihara Izaya.
Yuuhei appreciated the gesture and took another sip from his milk.
Megumi’s eyes trailed after Etsuko.
Shizuo appreciated Etsuko too. He thought that she was different from the other girls that liked his brother, who were far
more agressive.
As for Etsuko, she eventually returned to Izaya and Megumi’s table. “Herei s your muffin.” she told Megumi in an almost
friendly manner as she placed the small plate in front of her. “And your sushi.” she told Izaya as she carefully placed his plate
down on the table.
Etsuko chuckled softly. If only they were acting like sane people all the time…
Shizuo raised an eyebrow. “What’s on your mind?”
Etsuko watched them with a small smile, but then turned to leave. Again, she didn’t want to be a creeper, and there were
other clients to serve as well.
Shizuo didn’t buy that. “Come on, tell me!” he demanded.
Megumi reached to steal some sushi from Izaya, while in return, he ate from her muffin.
“It’s nothing.” Yuuhei replied bluntly.
Etsuko was doing her job, like nothing was wrong, while some waitress were giggling at Yuuhei.
Shizuo sighed as he placed down his empty cup of cappuccino.
“Ah, we should get something to drink!” Megumi suggested. Izaya nodded and waved a hand in the air “Ano sa ~ Etsuko-
san!” He called without stress.
Yuuhei hurried to drink his milk, so they could leave.
Etsuko finished taking some other client’s order and then went to Izaya’s table. “Hai, hai~!” she said as she approached
Izaya’s table.
“We’d like…!” Izaya started “Coca-cola!” Megumi decided as they both nodded.
“Alright.” Etsuko said as she watched them. They seemed to be so in sync… they reminded her of her and her brother.
Then she noticed Shizuo was staring at her intently and went to see what was wrong. “Can you bring us the bill?” he asked
her when she was close enough. “Surely!” Etsuko replied and nodded.
Etsuko returned after a while with the Orihara’s siblings’ drinks and then went to Heiwajima-kun and Yuuhei-kun’s table to
give them the bill.
Shizuo could almost laugh at their consumption not being on the house.
Etsuko tucked some hair behind her ear like she always did when she was nervous and told Shizuo and Yuuhei that they were
always welcome there. Shizuo thanked her for her kindness.
Yuuhei stood up and bowed politely, before wishing her a good day.
Megumi watched. Izaya chuckled.
Etsuko blushed at that and bowed too. “You too have a good day!” she managed to say without stuttering. Shizuo chuckled.
She was ( food-looking ) cute alright.
Izaya couldn’t resist the urge to yell “Shizu-chan~” as he was him walking out.
Shizuo groaned but didn’t have any other reaction as he led Yuuhei out of the café.
Etsuko glared at Izaya. She saw what he tried to do.
Megumi giggled. “He didn’t get mad!” “Hai, just for the sake of his little brother.”
“Ah, I’ll bring you the bill right away then!” Etsuko told them and disappeared.
Etsuko returned and was surprised to see Megumi gone. Maybe she was using the restroom.
Izaya sighed and took his wallet out and paid for them both.
Megumi looked at the sky in the meanwhile.
“By the way, the outfit really suits you, Etsuko-chan!” And then, the informant was gone.
“Huh?...” Etsuko was left there blushing as she watched Izaya’s disappearing back.
“What took you so long.” Megumi pouted. Izaya shrugged innocently as they walked down the street.
Etsuko took a hand to her heart. Why was it pounding like that…? It must have been because she was so scared when she saw
that bastard, yes, that was it! Nothing more!
In the meanwhile, Shizuo was showing his brother around, telling him about recent changes in town but most importantly
about the people he should stay away from.
Megumi skipped down the streets. “Oh, I have to catch up with them!” She said. “Eh? Why?” “Because Maiuri and Kururui
are visiting later!” She said and dashed down the streets, leaving Izaya with a twitching eyebrow. “…Wonderful.”
Etsuko was starting to get bored now. So many orders, orders and again orders. And no cute boys. She did her best however
not to give in to the boredom and act moody.
Megumi ran as fast as she could to catch up with Shizuo and Yuuhei. Izaya stood on a high building to watch the city.
Shizuo was telling his brother to stay away from the Orihara’s brothers.
“Baka-chan~” Megumi chirped from behind. Yuuhei raised an eyebrow. Speaking of the devil..
Megumi giggled and stepped in front of Shizuo’s brother. “Yuuhei-san, good day!” She greeted him casually. Yuuhei gave a
small greeting in return. “I know this is sudden but could you sign this notebook from me? My sisters are visiting later and I
wouldn’t want them to try something on you again…” She said, looking away. She wasn’t fond of her sisters. Yuuhei nodded
and took a pen as Megumi told him their names and he wrote a small message for them and then gave an autograph. “Oh!
Thank you Yuuhei-san! Your brother must be really proud of you!” She said with a sheepish smile.
Megumi rested her hands behind her back like a teenager. “You know, I’m proud of my brother too! Although he’s always
such a troublemaker.” She said with a friendly smile. Yuuhei could almost see her as a normal person, despite what Shizuo
told her. “I see…”
Shizuo stared. He could see something nasty coming… and then he spotted Etsuko walking down the street.
“Eriko-chan…?” “Huh? Heiwajima-kun!” Etsuko greeted him back cheerfully, like they were old friends. She was wearing
her school uniform again, the school bag on her back, the rollers on her feet.
“Was your brother a troublemaker too, when younger, Yuuhei-san?~” Megumi asked curiously. Kasuka remembered briefly
when Shizuo was about to throw a fridge at him because he ate his pudding. “You could say so.”
Shizuo groaned, displeased. Etsuko approached them. So that was where Megumi had gone…
Megumi giggled slightly at Kasuka’s response.
Shizuo glanced Megumi and frowned. “Is there anything you need?”
Etsuko just glanced at the three of them.
Megumi looked at Shizuo. “What? Are you shooing me away? I have my rights too.” She said simply.
Shizuo sighed. “Let’s go to the park.” he suggested to his brother and Etsuko.
Megumi saw it coming and jumped, landing on the pillar with a flawless move that resembled a pirouette.
Megumi was grinning like a devil in the meanwhile. She understood why her brother loved to encounter Shizuo so much
now.
Yuuhei just stared ahead. His brother’s strength never had limits. Instead he nodded and turned to leave.
Etsuko had seen what Shizuo could do the other day and wanted to protect Yuuhei. She grabbed his hand and led him to the
park at a quick pace.
Shizuo threw the pillar at Megumi, wishing to wipe off that stupid grin from her face.
Yuuhei wasn’t scared of Shizuo’s strength. It was just disappointing that he couldn’t behave.
Megumi dodged it with the same move.
Etsuko didn’t seem to be aware of the fact that they were holding hands. And lucky enough, no seemed to recognize Yuuhei
to far.
Shizuo gritted his teeth as he grabbed a fridge this time around.
Yuuhei followed her in silence. Even if he’d be recognized, the bodyguards would show to protect him and Etsuko.
Megumi smirked amused in return.
They soon reached the park. “We’re here. The Ikebukuro park.” she announced with a big smile.
Shizuo seemed to be annoyed. He threw the fridge at her. Some people gathered and watched.
Yuuhei was slightly familiar with the place and looked at her.
Megumi stuffed her hands in her pockets. That man was a brute. When she saw the fridge coming, she stepped to the side,
causing it to fly towards the crowd.
Yuuhei returned the smile because he didn’t want to make her feel bad.
Megumi skipped past Shizuo and as she did so, she grabbed his hand and pulled him with her. They could fight later, since
both of them would be accused anyway.
Etsuko was slightly concerned about what he thought of her after what that jerk said out loud in the café, when an old man
flower seller taunted them about being a couple and asked Yuuhei if he didn’t want to buy a bouquet for his girl.
Shizuo was surprised by her actions, but decided to play along for the time being.
Yuuhei looked at the old man. She wasn’t really his girlfriend but he could but her a bouquet to make up for the incident at
the café? And that’s what he did.
“Idiot.” Megumi murmured as she pulled him away from the crowd.
Yuuhei tilted his head to the side and offered the flowers to her. “Here you go.”
“Idiot.” Megumi had no trouble in repeating it.
“But you didn’t do anything wrong!...” Etsuko pointed out. She did however, take the flowers.
“I… I have the right to talk as much as you do, you know…?” Shizuo replied in a similar manner. Oh yes, he could play that
game too.
Etsuko didn’t want to make it look like she was bossing him around, but she did lead him to a bench nearby and sat down.
Shizuo rolled his eyes.
Yuuhei took a seat on the bench and admired the view. Little did they know that some paparazzi were following them.
Megumi led them to a dark alley. “Yosh, we should be fine now.”
“Say, Yuuhei-kun…” Etsuko started. “…do, do you like parks?” she asked him.
“Nothing.” Shizuo replied. “I guess I should thank you.”
Yuuhei was disturbed by the sound of cell-phone and then reached to answer. “Moshi-moshi…?”
Megumi could do the same, but she actually didn’t.
Kasuka rolled his eyes at the sight of that. “Anything else, Onii-san?” He mocked, though his tone still remained monotone.
“Don’t get yourself into trouble.” Kasuka said before he hung up.
Megumi was listening to music in the meanwhile.
“Don’t tell me he’s really your brother?...” Etsuko exclaimed and laughed awkwardly at her own silliness.
“No. Just getting as far from you as possible.” Shizuo replied calmly.
“Ah!... Ah… I see…” Etsuko stuttered under the pressure of his stare.
“Indeed. It’s not.” Shizuo replied in a similar manner and walked away.
“Erm…” Etsuko couldn’t believe she’d made Yuuhei-kun’s brother go to jail...! She felt horrible.
That sentence made Shizuo stop in his tracks and glance at her over his shoulder.
Etsuko gulped. Then she noticed a few rain drops falling on the ground around.
Shizuo decided it was none of his business. These Orihara siblings were clearly messed up.
Yuuhei decided to give another phone and in a second a limousine arrived there. “Are you coming?” He asked.
Megumi glanced at him shortly.
Kasuka opened the door and waited for her to step in first.
The drops were getting heavier. “Ah, need a hand, Megumi-chan?” She felt an umbrella protect her. “Iza-nii…?” She asked,
as the man flashed her a wide smile. “I see that brute was just going to leave you here.”
Etsuko nervously got inside. She’d never been inside of a limo before!
Shizuo heard that, but kept walking.
Kasuka took a seat next to her and told the driver the destination.
Megumi sneezed a bit and clung to Izaya’s arm. “That a girl. We’re going home ~ “
Etsuko blushed slightly. He was so cute… she wanted to do kinky stuff with him so badly… but she had to behave. She
wanted to prove that she wasn’t a brainless fangirl, after all.
Shizuo shook his head in utter disgust.
Etsuko saddened. She wanted to say something interesting and funny, but her brain was drained.
Shizuo couldn’t care less about it.
Etsuko stared at her bouquet in silence. She was letting the chance to socialize with the boy of her dreams slip away.
Soon enough they arrived and Kasuka was the first one to step out and to display his manners, he offered his hand to Etsuko.
Megumi shivered a bit. She hated the fact that her organism was so weak.
Etsuko almost gasp at that. It was like a dream, or, or a movie! “Th-thank you.” she said and graciously took his hand.
Yuuhei helped her out and flashed her a small, almost unseen smile.
When they arrived home, Megumi felt like freezing. “Get some pills or something…” She told Izaya, who raised an eyebrow.
“We don’t really have medicine because we don’t get sick as often as you do ~” “T-Then go buy something!” “All shops are
cl—“ “Give me a break!” The girl roared and walked out again. Well, she was feeling really sick.
Etsuko blinked. Did she only imagined that smile…? The rain was getting heavier by second.
Etsuko took off her shooes and looked around the house shyly.
Etsuko nodded at everything he said – he was being so nice to her! – and ocassionally complimented the house.
Megumi coughed violently as she leaned against the wall of a nearby block.
Yuuhei nodded. “Would you like to drink something?”
Etsuko followed him and tried not to laugh at the sight of the milk.
“You really like milk, don’t you…!” Etsuko commented and the next instant wanted to slap herself. Why didn’t she say
something smarter than that…
Yuuhei nodded. “Milk is nice.” He told her. “Do you not like it?”
‘Milk is nice.’ “Hao~” Etsuko chirped. He was so cute she wanted to hug herself until she could no longer breath. “I do like
it.” she replied.
Yuuhei was hoping she wasn’t going to freak out on him. “ I see…” He wondered what took his brother so long.
Kasuka walked back in the living room in the meanwhile and glanced at the clock.
Etsuko pouted, but she didn’t dare to talk to him or approach him, as she stood in the doorframe.
Etsuko thought he was cute, like a neko-chan. She couldn’t help herself, and stepped closer…
Shizuo was dismissed from work for the rest of the day.
Kasuka startled a bit and glanced at her from the corner of his eye.
Megumi was actually panting a bit.
Etsuko saddened. She had freaked him out in the end… But to prove she didn’t lie, she reached for the remote control and
changed the channel.
Shizuo sighed. “Come on, say something!”
Etsuko pouted. “Fine.” she changed the channel back and went to the kitchen to sulk.
Shizuo eyed her suspiciously. “I might have something back at my house…” he replied.
Etsuko sat down on one of the kitchen chairs and crossed her arms on the table, puffing her cheeks.
So she had a cold…? “Only if you’re gonna pay back for it.” Shizuo replied devilly.
“You’re not cute when like that.” Etsuko heard a mystical voice in her head. And the voice was right. She went back to the
living room to apologize for being such a bitch to the nice Yuuhei-kun. “I’m sorry.” she said walking up to him.
Shizuo crouched to help her up. “Can you stand?”
Etsuko decided to take that as a positive remark. “Can I sit next to you…?” she asked.
Shizuo chuckled again, and started walking towards his home.
Kasuka glanced at her and then passed her the remote control.
Megumi yawned a bit.
Etsuko blushed a little but decided not to start another argument, so she took the remote control in silence.
But soon they were disturbed by loud knocks on the door. “Kasuka, you at home?” It was Shizuo’s voice, and he was actually
hitting the door with his knee, since he was needing both his arms to hold the frail girl.
Kasuka rose from his seat and walked to the door, deciding to open it. Megumi almost fell asleep. Almost. “Welcome back.”
Kasuka said, glancing at the girl shortly.
Shizuo walked past Kasuka and headed to his room, to lay Megumi on his futon.
Etsuko watched from afar. That girl… Orihara-san?!
Kasuka sighed as he glanced at his brother, deciding not to get involved, only if Shizuo needed something.
Shizuo watched Megumi. It looked like she had fallen asleep. Then he placed a hand on her forehead – she was burning!
Etsuko stopped by Kasuka’s side and looked at him.
Kasuka was standing at the door-frame. That girl looked pretty bad.
Megumi inhaled and exhaled deeply.
Shizuo spotted his brother and Etsuko and walked up to them. “Eriko-chan, do you know anything about treating a cold?” he
asked Etsuko. Etsuko blinked. “Erm… Masa-chan was never a sickly kid… But I could give it a try…” she replied. She
wasn’t that heartless after all. She might have had second thoughts, however, if it was Orihara Izaya they were talking about.

Kasuka looked over Shizuo’s shoulder and then at Etsuko. “Maybe you should call your ex-classmate, he’s a doctor, right?”
He eventually suggested. Megumi flinched at that. Were they speaking of Shinra?
Shizuo looked at Kasuka and shook his head. “I don’t think it’s a such a good idea. If I wanted her dead I’d just have left her
where I found her.”
Etsuko was thinking of what they would need.
Kasuka shrugged. At least he said something. “ A wet cloth would help, then.”
Kasuka nodded and remained to keep an eye on Megumi, who eventually fell asleep.
Etsuko was looking through the kitchen for the ingredients, when she found some packs of instant soup and swatdropped.
“Men…”
Shizuo returned after a while and carefully placed the wet cloth on Megumi’s forehead.
Kasuka blinked. He could call someone and order food if that was the case.
Megumi didn’t move much at that.
Etsuko sighed as she took out the instant soup and then took out a pot to boil the needed water.
Shizuo watched her. She looked so fragile… she made him want to use all of his strength to protect her.
Etsuko didn’t have time to look at him because she was so focused on her work.
Shizuo remained by Megumi’s side for the time being, only watching her sleep.
Kasuka crossed his arms in front of his chest as he returned to the living room.
Megumi was having another nightmare about her being headless, as she startled and rose the upper part of her body from the
futon, all of a sudden.
Etsuko took out her phone and started to play with it.
“Are you alright?” Shizuo asked lowering himself to her level and placed a hand on her shoulder.
Etsuko glanced out the window. So his real name was ‘Kasuka-kun’, huh…
Shizuo shook his head. “And here I was, thinking you’d be nicer when you’re sick. But don’t worry, Eriko-chan is making
you a soup as we speak.”
Megumi tilted her head to the side. “Is that so…” She replied, a bit confused.
Shizuo chuckled. “You should lay back down.” he told her wisely and then grabbed the cloth and left to soak it again in cold
water.
Etsuko returned after a while, holding a bowl of steaming soup. “Orihara-san…” she said simply and sat down in the seiza
position, her knees folded directly under her, before holding out the bowl to Megumi.
Megumi sighed softly. It felt like everyone pitied her and she didn’t like it. She was about to lay back down, when she saw
Etsuko and then looked at the bowl. It wasn’t poisoned, right? She reached to take it.” Thank you.”
Shizuo glanced at his brother and then at Etsuko. “Eriko-chan, you should spend the night over.” he said, since Megumi was
in no condition to leave that night, and he thought that keeping Etsuko around too might be a good idea.
“Um, uh…” Etsuko fidgeted. She did want to stay.
Shizuo seemed to be thinking of the same thing. “Looks like there’s only one futon left for the two of you…” he told Kasuka
and Etsuko, scratching his head. Etsuko glanced at Yuuhei. “I, I’ll take the floor!” she announced.
“I don’t mind it.” Kasuka said flatly. After all, it wasn’t anything new.
Megumi arched an eyebrow. “I’ll just go home.”
Etsuko glanced at Shizuo. He must have been a kind person after all.
Etsuko glanced at Kasuka and then at Megumi with a confused look. She wondered what she was supposed to do now.
“Eriko-chan, shouldn’t you get some rest too? You have school tomorrow, after all.” “Ah, yes! Right away!” Etsuko replied
nervously. “Night, Heiwajima-kun, Orihara-san!”
Etsuko glanced around. Perhaps… she could sleep on the couch in the living room! And that’s what she did. She took off her
school uniform and folded it nicely by the couch, before laying on the couch… Kasuka-kun’s couch!...
“AH! Uh…” Etsuko startled and jumped from the couch. Lucky she was always wearing a colored tank and a pair of daisy
dukes underneath the school uniform. “I, erm, Yuuhei-kun was going to sleep in his room on the futon, and I didn’t want to
disturb, so I thought that maybe I could sleep here!... I, I can’t sleep here?... I’m sorry! So sorry!” she said quickly and bowed
several times.
Shizuo walked up to the window. It looked like the rain had stopped, but it was still chilly outside. And Ikeubukuro was a
dangerous place, so no way he could let a girl out there alone, even if she was Izaya-kun’s sister.
Kasuka raised an eyebrow. “The futon is big enough for the two of us.”
Megumi glanced at him from the corner of her eye. Being in his house…how pathetic of her.
Kasuka turned to head towards the room they were going to sleep in.
Megumi tugged her knees to he chest.
Etsuko took her phone and followed him. She decided to text her brother to let him know she was fine: ‘Don’t wait for me.
Spending the night over Yuuhei-kun’s house ♥’
Shizuo glanced at her over his shoulder but didn’t say anything.
Kida sent her a message and told her to stay safe. Actually he was at a Yellow Scarves meeting.
Megumi rested her head against her knees.
Etsuko smiled to herself and then glanced at the boy before her. “Yuuhei-kun… can I call you by your real name?”
Shizuo couldn’t help but wonder where Izaya was at such a time.
Kasuka stared at her a bit surprised, but his poker face didn’t give in. “Go ahead.”
Megumi glanced at Shizuo. She wondered whether Izaya would appear there or not.
Etsuko smiled. “I’m Etsuko.” she said, aware of the fact that Shizuo was always mistaking her name.
Shizuo didn’t want Izaya show up. Ever again. Things were so peaceful without him around…
Etsuko couldn’t help but think he was too adorable for his own good.
“Where you goin’?” Shizuo asked her.
Etsuko sighed contently and went to sit on the other side of the futon.
Shizuo smiled softly as he watched her.
Etsuko only tried not to do anything embarrassing. “Yuu- I mean, Kasuka-kun, will you attend to Reira Academy’s coming
prom?” she decided to ask.
Shizuo raised an eyebrow. “Hey! Children shouldn’t smoke!” he teased.
Etsuko smiled. She was happy. “So, you’re coming, huh? That’s great!”
Shizuo only watched her in silence. She wasn’t so bad…
“You’re too kind!” Etsuko declared and lay on the futon, stretching out her arms.
Shizuo leaned closer and placed a hand on her forehead to check her temperature.
Etsuko blushed and smiled widely. “Kasuka-kun, you don’t snore, right?”
Shizuo startled and grabbed her by her arms. “You should lay down after all.”
Etsuko giggled. “That’s good…” she said and turned her back to him, as if she was trying to sleep.
“You’re not fine. Not yet.” Shizuo told her wisely.
( taci din gura. > u < ) Kasuka made himself comfortable in the futon.
Megumi pouted. “…Idiot.”
Etsuko gulped and blushed. She was too nervous to close her eyes.
“Good night.” Shizuo grinned. “Do you want me to tell you a bedtime story as well?”
Kida was dealing with the Yellow Scarves, telling them to stop bullying the Dollars members.
Megumi scoffed and fixed her hair back and just crossed her arms in front of her chest. “I’m not a kid.”
Etsuko still couldn’t believe she was sharing a futon with him.
“Night, Megumi-kun.” Shizuo wished her again, changing the subject.
Megumi wasn’t sure whether she wanted to fall asleep or not, but in the end she was too sick to fight over it anymore and
gave in.
Kasuka felt something warm against him, so he was forced to open his eyes only to be face to face with Etsuko.
Megumi was still sleeping, since she woke up a lot during the night because she either sneezed or coughed or felt hot or cold.
Etsuko was far from waking up. She was holding Kasuka tightly, like he was a pillow.
Shizuo payed for the order [ comandase pizza XD ] and returned by Megumi’s side.
Kasuka clicked his tongue down, trying to resist the urge to wake her up. But she had school, right?
Megumi turned to the other side.
Etsuko wasn’t exactly a morning person, so she needed to be woken up either by a person or a clock alarm each day.
Shizuo smiled softly at that and then went to check on his brother. “What’re you two doing over there…?” he demanded,
raising an eyebrow. “It’s morning already.”
Shizuo chuckled and stepped closer. “Eriko-chan? It’s morning. Hey, Eriko-chan!...” he told the girl, placing a hand on her
shoulder and shaking her slightly. “No, I don’t want to~!” Etsuko frowned, snuggling some more against Kasuka.
“You have school…” Kasuka reminded her on a low voice, struggling to get away.
Etsuko opened her eyes slowly and startled at the sight of the pretty boy. “Ka-Kasuka-kun!”
“Good morning…!” Etsuko replied quickly and let go of him. She was so embarrassed she wanted to disappear!
Shizuo chuckled. Young love…
Etsuko saddened. It was the beginning of the bad day, she could feel it.
“Where’s your uniform?” Shizuo asked. “Ah, right, I’ll go get dressed.”
Megumi yawned and stepped out of the room, with a small sneeze.Bookmark
Shizuo went to kitchen too. On the table there were indeed four large boxes of pizza.
Etsuko sighed loudly. Men… they were really helpless.
Megumi looked at the box. She could never eat so much.
Kasuka went to the kitchen to eat as well.
Megumi was a bit too sleepy, so she almost fell asleep again.
Kasuka blinked. His brother’s tasted never ceased to amaze him.
Etsuko glanced at Megumi with concern. Looked like she was in no condition to come to school that day…
Shizuo thought the same. Megumi could stay there as long as needed to recover.
Megumi didn’t feel that hungry, but she did catch a glimpse of Etsuko devouring like there was no tomorrow.
Shizuo chuckled. She was just like a buta-chan… yes, a buta-chan. A cute little pig. ( <3 )
Etsuko didn’t seem to have a problem with that. She had always eaten a lot of food.
Megumi couldn’t understand. Her and Etsuko weren’t part of the family and they were still treated so nice..
“I, I don’t need it!!” Etsuko told her. She had her dignity. Shizuo chuckled.
“Ah, but I didn’t poison it.” Megumi replied with a wide grin. “C’mon, it’s okay to eat it.”
“Really…” Megumi watched her in disbelief. “You don’t have to make up excuses if you don’t want it.”
“I’m not making up excuses!” Etsuko said and pouted. She glanced at Shizuo. She couldn’t believe he had called her a pig in
front of everyone! Well, in front of Kasuka-kun!
“You can leave up your dignity for another time.” Megumi pointed out. After all, she was Izaya’s sister, so what would it be
if she wasn’t to notice such things?
Etsuko puffed her cheeks. “Buta-chan, isn’t it time for you to go?” Shizuo asked with concern. Etsuko glanced at the clock.
“Shoot! But don’t call me-” she started, but was interrupted by Shizuo. “Kasuka, can you walk her?”
Kasuka nodded. He needed to head to talk with his boss too. Megumi waved at them cheerfully.
Etsuko waved back, instinctively. Not because she appreciated being picked on. She picked up her bag and went to put on her
rollers.
Shizuo watched them. Children…
Kasuka said goodbye and then led Etsuko outside, where the limo was waiting.
Megumi leaned against the door-frame.
Etsuko was surprised to see the limo again. “Does Kasuka-kun always travel by limo?”
Shizuo glanced at her. “You okay?”
“Most of the time to avoid paparazzi.” Kasuka replied, as the driver opened the door for them.
Megumi nodded slowly.
“Oh!... Yes, that makes sense.” Etsuko replied and stepped into the car.
“Now don’t force yourself.” Shizuo told her softly.
Etsuko glanced at him. “I’m sorry about this morning. I didn’t mean to hug you so tightly… I didn’t even realize it was
you…”
Shizuo chuckled and ruffled her hair.
Etsuko nodded and gulped. “Yuuhei-kun, are you busy later today?” the words slipped out of Etsuko’s mouth before she
could process the thought completely.
Shizuo tilted his head. “What wrong? Does your stomach hurt or something?”
“Then,” Etsuko resumed, enthusiastically, “would you like to do something together? Like, go to a movie, or something…”
she suggested. He would probably say no. But well, at least she tried, right?
“Then help yourself.” Shizuo pointed at the leftover pizza on the table.
“Really?... Great!... Then, I’ll see you in front of the teathre, at 6 o’clock?” Etsuko suggested.
Shizuo shook his head. “Lucky Buta-chan has left you something, huh?”
Etsuko grinned. “Awesomeness!” she exclaimed, when she noticed the limo slowed down. They already got to school?
Etsuko didn’t even notice when the time passed by.
Shizuo laughed with her. “But she’s a good girl. She was concerned for your health yesterday, and even made you soup.”
“Thanks! See you tonight!” Etsuko said as she got out of the limo.
Shizuo smiled as he remembered that. He also wondered if his brother had a liking for that Eriko, no, Buta-chan.
Kasuka gave a wave and then ordered the driver to take him to work.
“So then, what if this Buta-chan will become your sister in law?” Megumi teased him.
Eriko turned around and entered the school gate, unaware of the chaos about to unleash.
Shizuo was bit surprised by her question. “If she becomes my sister in law, you say… Well, she’d make a cute little sister,
don’t you think? As long as she wouldn’t waste all the money on food, she’d make a good enough sister in law for me. Heck,
she might even get Kasuka out of his shell!”

Izaya raised an eyebrow at that. “I don’t believe in God.” He said simply. “There’s no proof of his existence, so you can’t get
me with it.”
Megumi smiled. “So, you don’t mind her.”
“Shut up. I didn’t ask for your opinion.” Etsuko replied bluntly taking a fighting pose.
Shizuo raised his eyebrows. “I just said that I don’t.”
“Ohoho~ Violence? I don’t hit girls.” Izaya told her, arranging his jacket coolly. “You and Shizu-chan are the only ones who
always jump to fight. It’s frustrating, really.”
Megumi shrugged. “Wasn’t paying attention.” She replied smirking.
Etsuko stuck out his tongue at him. “Stop sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong! Ugly!” she shouted the last part louder
and ran towards the school.
Shizuo shrugged his head. “And you say you are mature…”
Izaya blinked a few times. “This is why I love humans so much.” He told himself, followed by a short laugh.
Megumi rolled her eyes. “I am, when I want to be.”
Etsuko didn’t stop until she reached the entrance of the school, where she took off her rollers and replaced them with the
indoors shoewear.
Shizuo chuckled. “I see, I see.”
Some girls started to whisper as Etsuko climbed the stairs to her classroom, but she wasn’t paranoic enough to think that they
were talking about her.
Shizuo looked at her innocently.
Etsuko didn’t know the fact that everyone found out about her and Kasuka.
Megumi turned her back towards him.
And indeed, for God knows what reason, there were a bunch of reporters in front of Etsuko’s classroom. They didn’t seem to
take notice of her on spot, since they were interviewing some classmates of hers.
“Come on, what’s wrong with you?” Shizuo demanded.
( de ce nu ma mira ) Etsuko startled. “There she is!” “After her!” “”Kida-san! Kida-san!” they screamed after her. They
wanted more details on her relationship with the famous actor Hanejima Yuuhei, after all. Etsuko was running in the opposite
direction, heading for the staircase.
Shizuo waited for her to reply.
[Pentru ca Izaya nu e informant degeaba? ] Masaomi startled a bit as he was just walking with Mikado, when he heard people
calling and thought they were calling him instead.
Megumi only puffed her cheek.
( corect… ) Etsuko glanced at her brother shortly. “Look out for yourself! And don’t believe anything they say!” she shouted
at him and quickly disappeared from his sight.
“Well…?”Shizuo asked.
“Etsuko-chan!” Kida startled as he helped her outside and managed to hide behind a bush.
“Men.” Megumi replied in the same manner.
“Masa-chan!...” Etsuko glanced at him. “Geez, thanks. I… I think we’re safe for now…”
“What?! What is that supposed to mean?” Shizuo faked a pout.
“Nonsense. I can miss school only because of you.” Kida said cheekily.
Megumi nodded confidently.
Etsuko blushed. “St-stop flirting with your own sister. It’s disgusting.” she said looking away, embarrassed.
Shizuo sighed. She was really hopeless.
“That’s not what you said last night.” Kida said matter-of-factly.
Megumi yawned a bit.
Etsuko pouted. “Last night was last night, and now is now—Wait a minute, last night I was with…” she trailed off, dreamily.
Shizuo took her hand and led her back to his bedroom.
Kida sighed. “Ah, you still are cute.” He said and motioned for her to climb on his back.
“….Right.” Megumi said, not impressed.
“Masa-chan, you can’t be serious… I’ll break your back…!” Etsuko hesitated.
Shizuo glanced at her. He simply couldn’t figure her out.
“Ne, Masa-chan, buy a newspaper. I want to check something.” Etsuko asked him.
“But maybe I can help.” Shizuo replied, surprised by his own words.
Etsuko stole the newspaper and held it so that they could both read it. And ideed, there was a huge picture and a matching
developed article on the secret relationship and the famous young actor Hanejima Yuuhei and the mysterious Reira Academy
student. Etsuko could almost laugh at all of those silly presumptions.
Shizuo didn’t look away from her.
“They think I’m involved in a relationship with Yuuhei-kun.” Etsuko snickered. “In fact, that was what all the fuss at school
was about…” she added sheepishly.
Shizuo was still waiting for her answer.
“Ahaha, maybe you really are.” Kida teased her lightly. “After spending the night with him and all…” He trailed off.
Megumi didn’t look like she was going to answer too soon.
Etsuko blushed and hit him with the newspaper in the head. “What kind of girl do you take me for?” she scolded him.
But Shizuo waited. It was a rare sight to see him appear so calm.
Masaomi laughed louder than that. “Well, you always had a girl crush on him...”
Megumi was getting slightly intimidated by his stare.
Etsuko pouted. “Stop picking on your elder sister!” she said and pulled his ears.
Shizuo really wondered what was going on through her mind right now.
“That should teach you a lesson.” Etsuko said as she let go of his ears.
Shizuo watched her. Was she going to faint…?
Etsuko poked his head. “Stop laughing and take me home. I still gotta lot of things to do today, you know…?”
Shizuo almost felt sorry for her. Almost. He didn’t forget for a moment whose sister she was.
Kida’s grin spread. “Then we have to get you ready!” He said, speeding the pace.
Megumi glanced at him silently.
Kida soon arrived back at their apartment and carefully put Etsuko on the edge of the bed.
“I’ve been…thinking about a few things.” Megumi replied.
Etsuko bit her lip. She really hoped her ankle would heal nicely…
Shizuo raised an eyebrow. “Such as…?”
Kida returned with some bandages. He froze when he remembered that Saki was still in hospital because her ankles were
broken and bit at his lip.
Megumi only glared at that and looked down.
Kida glared at the floor. He remembered how he couldn’t do anything to save her.
“You’re not in the position to say that.” Megumi contradicted him.
Kida finished. “Maaan, it’s hard to be careful with such pretty girls to distract you…” He started, teasingly.
Megumi only watched him with a sheepish grin.
Etsuko blushed. “I told you to stop it!” she said and reached to hit him with her healthy leg.
Shizuo lost interest in her. He turned around and left the room.
“Ah! I have work later today!...” Etsuko recalled. “But…” she stared at her bandaged foot.
Etsuko nodded. “That’s what I’m gonna do.” she announced and reached for her cellphone.
Kida watched her silently.
“I should…pull myself together and come home.” Megumi said. “You should~ Namie-san’s food is the worst.” The
informant complained and sighed. Megumi giggled.
Etsuko started to talk about her problem, but a voice yelled at her from the other end of the phone.
“But… but…!” Etsuko tried, confused. “I’m not lying! No, I’m not eloping!... Are you even listening to me?!”
Etsuko shrugged. “They think I’m making up excuses. And that photo in the newspaper didn’t help either…”
Shizuo startled. “Kiddo, what the hell?”
“Don’t worry ‘bout it. There’s plenty of other jobs available round Ikebukuro, I’m sure of it.” Etsuko replied lightly.
Shizuo pushed her away, as he stood up. “What do you want?”
“Hopefully.” Kida said, nodding. “I mean, who wouldn’t hire cute girls…”
Megumi stumbled backwards. “Don’t be a brute….” She faked a pout. “I’m going home.”
“Oh, look at the time! So little left until your date~” Kida chuckled.
Megumi nodded. “Bai~ Bai~ Shizu-chan!” She waved before skipping out.
Etsuko gasped. “Stop laughing! I must find something to wear!” she panicked.
After he heard her footsteps disappear, Shizuo sighed.
Etsuko nodded enthusiastically and then told him to open her wardrobe so she could choose something.
Kida chuckled and skipped over to her wardrobe and opened it.
Megumi reached her home. “Iza-nii!” She called cheerfully and walked in the informant’s office, hugging him. “Ah,
Megumi-chan~” “Working again?” “As always!”
“Hmm…” Etsuko pondered for a few minutes before pointing at the desired clothes. “Give me those! And the matching
sandals!”
“But first, you’ll have to undress me…” Etsuko stated and looked at him invitingly.
“Ohoho ~ In other words, I’ll have to lay my hands all over you~” Kida said, kinkily.
Megumi clapped her hands. “Let’s go then, we wouldn’t want to appear suspicious~” “But Megumi-chan, you’re a mess.
You’ll infest me as well~” “Don’t complain! Did you buy medicine?~” “Hmm…Did I?” “Iza-nii!” She sniffed. The
informant laughed. “I did~”
Etsuko looked unconfortable now. “Re-really…?”
“Well, I wouldn’t have to, if you weren’t so perveted…” Etsuko replied blushing slightly.
“Get outta here!” Etsuko told him and hugged her clothes.
Etsuko appeared after a while, all dolled up. She was wearing the party clothes she’d chosen earlier: they were mostly done
with a chocolate brown fabric, and consisted mainly of a pleated mini skirt and a blouse which was revealing her shoulders.
Her hair had its usual front and side bangs untouched, but her ponytail had become a braided bun. She was also wearing just a
hint of make-up.
Kida watched her with big eyes. “Sugooooii~” He admired her as he clapped her hands. “Allow me to escort you!”
Etsuko chuckled. “I’ve already called a carriage.” she said pointed at her phone. “But you can tag along, I guess.”
“No, no, no. I’m not going to interfere. Good luck!” Kida said.
Etsuko grinned. “Bai bai, little brothe~r!” she told him and skipped to the door.
Megumi in the meanwhile was getting pretty bored. Kasuka arrived in front of the block.
Etsuko startled a bit when she saw Kasuka. He was as handsome as ever.
Etsuko smiled back. “Good evening!” she managed to say without stuttering.
Etsuko silently took his arm and blushed. “You know, I’ve twisted by ankle this morning… so I may be a bit slow.” she
decided to let him know.
Etsuko shook her head. “N-no, actually… but Masa-chan did a pretty good job bandaging it!” she said quickly. It was true,
under the sandal, one her ankles was wrapped in white bandages.
“I’ll take you to the doctor after the movie.” Kasuka decided.
“There’s no need for you to go to such lengths for my sake!” Etsuko said, embarrassed. “I’ll just grab a cab… or
something…”
“We’ll see after the movie.” Kasuka said, walking her to the car.
Etsuko nodded and got inside the car. He was such a nice person… it was hard not to fall in love with him.
Kasuka ordered the driver to take them to the cinema, where they got pretty fast.
Etsuko was slightly anxious and glanced at Kasuka from time to time.
Kasuka offered her his hand before he led her inside to pay the tickets.
Etsuko fidgeted with nervousness. She could only hope that no one would recognize them.
Kasuka didn’t care at that moment. They had bodyguards in the end.
Megumi and Izaya were inside, right behind where they predicted that the ‘couple ‘will stay. They also had fancy glasses and
popcorn.
Megumi nudged Izaya as they saw Kasuka and Etsuko walk in.
Megumi and Izaya grinned like idiots when they saw the two of them.
Etsuko took Kasuka’s hand and led him to the respective seats.
And it did turn that they sat in front of the Orihara siblings.
“Oya, oya~ I see you all blue and red, Megumi-chan~” Izaya said, just to draw attention. “Ohoho, how scary~”
Etsuko froze. What were the odds…? She quickly glanced at the man by her side to see his reaction.
Izaya smirked a bit at that. Humans were predictable, after all. Except Shizu-chan and Simon. “Now I see you blue and red
too, Iza-nii!” Megumi chirped.
Etsuko pouted. She didn’t want to know that the pedophile creeper would be so close to her for a whole hour and 50 minutes.
Etsuko decided not to make a scene and sat down. Still, having that pedophile behind her… well, let’s just say it wasn’t
exactly confortable. She took out her cell phone, texted a short message and showed it to Kasuka: ‘Please ignore the
creepers behind us.’
Kasuka glanced at the cell phone and only nodded slowly. Soon, the film began. Megumi tried to look interested.
Etsuko smiled and then turned her attention to the big screen as well.
Some scary actions began and everyone in the room startled and even screamed, but Megumi stared with a bored expression.
“Ahaha~ Effects these days.” Izaya shrugged.
Etsuko pouted slightly. She wanted to cling onto Kasuka-kun, but it was hard to do so, when she was aware that the Orihara
siblings were watching…
Kasuka’s expression was blank the whole time. You couldn’t tell whether he was scared or not.
Etsuko glanced at his face and giggled. He was so moé she could die.
Etsuko tilted her head and grinned at him, unaware of what was awaiting her.
Megumi and Izaya grinned like two devils at the sight of that.
Etsuko sighed softly as she put down the half-empty paper cup.
Etsuko almost forgot about the Orihara siblings. She glanced at Kasuka from the corner of her eye.
Etsuko sighed softly. She wished it never ended. No, she did want it to be over. She recalled about the Orihara siblings. How
strange that they stayed so quiet the whole time!
Megumi nudged Izaya. “We should go.” She told her brother ,of course it was all part of their plan. “Ah, I guess. The movie
was boring anyway, but I’m keeping the glasses~”
Etsuko was glad to know that they were going, but still couldn’t shake that feeling of uneasiness. The lights turned on in the
room and she stood up, sipping the last drops of her juice.
The siblings were gone, but truthfully they just made themselves unseen so they could have better access to what was
happening.
Etsuko was starting to feel dizzy. She leaned on Kasuka-kun’s arm, but she recovered quickly. “Ah, it’s just my ankle!” she
said quickly and laughed.
Etsuko wanted to protest, but she noticed that her sight was getting slightly fuzzy. What the hell?
Etsuko sighed and placed a hand over her forehead. Maybe she was just tired.
Etsuko smiled softly and blushed. But her eyelids were becoming heavier and heavier. “Kasuka… -kun…”
Kasuka frowned. Just then Megumi appeared in front of him, bothering him for an autograph while Izaya sneakily took
Etsuko and skipped away.
Etsuko was not aware of anything right now. Her body was as numb as a doll’s.
Kasuka only noticed that Etsuko disappeared after Megumi did as well.
Etsuko was probably dreaming of something. She seemed to be mumbling something in her ‘sleep’.
Megumi followed close behind, as Izaya placed her on the couch. “Namie-san, we’ve got a guest~”
Namie stepped into the room, looking unimpressed. “Who is it?”
Izaya shook his head. “Namie-san, pay attention next time I talk!” He said, as he went to the chess table, moving a precious
piece.
Etsuko opened her eyes. An unfamiliar ceiling… She gasped and sat up quickly.
“Good morning, Princess.” Namie said sarcastically. Etsuko glanced at her, startled.
“Ah~ Etsuko-chan!” Izaya smiled at her. Megumi sat at Izaya’s desk, just watching.
Etsuko couldn’t hide her emotions: shock, fear… “What the hell?” she frowned at Izaya.
“You fainted, so I picked you up because your date wasn’t around anymore.” Izaya explained with a wide grin.
Etsuko gritted her teeth. “You’re lying. The same way you lied the other day.”
“Ahaha ~ I’m lying? Why isn’t your beloved actor here then? Why isn’t that brute here to yell that he’ll kill me again?” Izaya
asked, smirking.
Etsuko stood up and glared at him. “Why did you bring me here? You could’ve took me home.”
“But then your brother wouldn’t really like my presence…” Izaya trailed off dramatically.
„You said you’re friends the other day.” Etsuko pointed out.
Etsuko raised an eyebrow. „Fine. I’m going home.” she announced and turned towards the door.
“Hold on! What’s the rush?” Megumi asked, standing in front of the door.
“Is that the thanks I get?” Izaya complained.
Etsuko frowned at Megumi. “Thanks…?” she repeated after Izaya. Namie chuckled softly.
“Yes, for bringing you here and making sure you were safe…” Izaya said.smiling.
Etsuko glanced at him over her shoulder with a serious expression. “Thanks.” she said bluntly.
“Excuse me for not being in the mood to play games with you.” Etsuko replied turning to face him and crossing her arms
over her chest. She was definitely not amused. Namie glanced at Izaya, looking forward to his witty response.
“You don’t need to play with me, Etsuko-chan. I can carry on my game, you see?” Izaya said, with a cruel smile.
Etsuko narrowed her eyes. “And I don’t want to have anything to do with it. I just want to go home.” she replied. She was
tired, hungry and upset.
“Too bad you’re already part of. Like every single lovable human~” Izaya chirped.
Namie decided to leave the room as well in order to leave Izaya alone with Etsuko.
Etsuko was thinking that Izaya must have been behind her job loss. Did he really have that kind of power?... “Depends of the
kind of job.”
“Oh? Sounds kinky!” Etsuko replied. “Who is the person you have in mind?”
Shizuo had just finished work and was heading home, unaware of the recent events.
“He’s from the school you go to~” Izaya said. Just as predicted. She was interested!
Megumi stuffed her hands in her pockets and walked around.
“Mm hmm.” Etsuko said. “How much are you willing to pay me for it?”
Shizuo was wondering whether his brother’s date with Buta-chan had ended.
Etsuko looked away, her cheeks slightly pink. “So… you’re like… a pimp?”
Shizuo spotted Megumi too and stopped walking. “Megumi-kun! How’s your cold?”
“I’m saying it now. Not interested.” Etsuko declared and headed to the door once more.
Shizuo tilted his head. He supposed she stayed home in bed. “Good.”
Etsuko sighed. She just never wanted to see him again. But on a second thought… “You know… you could at least walk me
home. Letting a young girl alone on the streets at night… what kind of a man are you?”
Shizuo ruffled her hair roughly, seemingly amused.
“I don’t know. I thought you didn’t want my presence, but if you insist.” Izaya said coolly, following her.
Megumi scoffed. “You’re ruining my haircut!”
Etsuko glanced behind and then slowed her pace so that they could walk side by side. She didn’t like having him behind
her… it was creepy.
Shizuo laughed and finally retreated his hand.
Izaya stuffed his hands in his fluffy jacket, staring a head the whole time.
Megumi blinked and fixed her hair.
Etsuko glanced at him. He wasn’t as good looking at Kasuka-kun, but he might have been a normal person, if only he didn’t
do all sorts of dubios things. She wondered what was going through his head.
Shizuo watched her amused.
Of course, no one could ever tell what the informant was thinking.
Megumi glared at him in silence.
Etsuko opened her mouth to say something, but then changed her mind.
“What’s wrong? Not feeling well?” Shizuo asked.
Etsuko was in fact intimidated by him, but she wouldn’t say it out loud.
“Hmm…” Shizuo pondered it. “I could ask to come to my place, but Kasuka and Buta-chan might be there…” he trailed off
suggestively.
Etsuko gasped at the sight of that and stopped in her tracks, her cheeks flushing red.
“Oh?” Shizuo leaned closer raising an eyebrow. “Do you know anything about their date?”
“Ara~ I didn’t know you were that easily to embarrass.” Izaya played around with her.
“I don’t have any intention in harming your brother.” Megumi replied.
“I’m not embarrassed. Just profoundly disgusted.” Etsuko replied bitterly to hide her true feelings. [ e tsundere ]
Shizuo raised an eyebrow at that. “Can I believe you?”
“It’s quite rude, calling me a geezer even though I’m just twenty one.” Izaya answered. “However, it’s not problem whether I
should reply back to that or hit you. But hitting girls isn’t my hobby.”
“Don’t care.” Megumi replied bluntly.
Izaya lifted his hands in the air, as if trying to keep his balance.
Megumi smiled innocently.
„Oi, what the hell’re you doing?” Etsuko asked, stepping further.
But Shizuo didn’t buy it. He was sure there was more to it.
“To me, it looks like you’re drunk and have lost your sense of balance.” Etsuko replied dryly. “Are you high?”
Shizuo sighed and eventually put her down.
Megumi skipped to Izaya. “Iza-nii?” She blinked. The informant buried his face in her shoulder and laughed. “I love humans
so much, Megumi-chan.” He breathed, smiling widely. The girl only narrowed her eyes.
Shizuo raised an eyebrow at that. “He’s high.” Etsuko explained to him as she pointed a finger at the informant.
“You’ll never get his sense of humour.” Megumi said bluntly. Izaya shook his head. “I love them, I love them!”
Megumi catre Izaya:
You're on the phone with your girlfriend, She's upset
She's going off about something that you said
She doesnt get your humour like I do
Megumi chuckled at Izaya. “Of course, except Shizu-chan. You can play with him and torture him all the way you want~”
Etsuko frowned. They were both insane. “Where’s Kasuka?” Shizuo demanded. “Kasuka-kun! I don’t know! When I woke
up… he was nowhere to be found…” “When you woke up…?” What the hell had Izaya done to her?
“How rude of him, leaving you fainted in the middle of the street.” Izaya tut, shaking his head in disappointment. Megumi
giggled.
“And do you expect me to believe you had nothing to do with my sudden faint??” Etsuko snapped. “You drogged her?”
Shizuo demanded, disgusted. How much lower could that man go?...
Izaya catre Etsuko: And that's why, my love, you never live without
I know you want me girl
'Cause I can see you checkin' me out:>
Izaya: And baby, you know, you know you want me too
Don't try to deny it, baby, I'm the only one for you
“Aha~ Shizu-chan, you know I don’t get my hands dirty with such things.” Izaya said giving a shrug as a tease. Megumi
yawned a bit.
“Aren’t they cute, Megumi-chan?” Izaya asked. “No” The girl replied bluntly, causing the informant to chuckle.
Shizuo walked up to Izaya, fists ready, but Etsuko clung onto him trying to stop him.
Izaya backed behind Megumi only smirking in return. “You’re getting better and better , Shizu-chan~” He teased.
Shizuo managed to shake Etsuko off, causing her to lose her balance and grabbed the closest pole. “III-ZAA-YAAA-
KUUUN!!”
Izaya snickered, pleased by the reaction so far, ready to dodge the pole. Megumi only stared in silence.
x Corrupted x: Etsuko catre Izaya: You're hideous and sexy
Izaya grabbed Etsuko’s hand and did a sort of looking pirouette, avoiding the pole. Megumi stepped away as well.
Etsuko startled a bit at both Izaya’s touch and the flying pole. Then she let out a small scream of fear when she saw a large
vending machine coming their way.
Izaya snorted and leaned Etsuko backwards, leaning right after her, as if they were still dancing, so the vending machine flew
past them. Megumi giggled. She taught her brother some of her tactics.
Etsuko let her body move on its own. She was too scared to try to fight it. She had to admit that Izaya had some skill,
however. In the meanwhile, Shizuo was pondering between two heavy refridgerators.
Izaya looked down at Etsuko with a smug smirk. Ah, he loved studying reactions.
Megumi leaned against the wall, watching.
Etsuko startled but followed his lead. It was like she was dancing with the devil. Literally.
A second later the fridge crashed in their proximity.
Etsuko didn’t dare to make a sound as the other fridge soon crashed nearby.
“What the heck are you--!” Etsuko started, but was cut short by a flying car. She let out a shriek.
Izaya laughed and dodged it. He then glanced at Megumi and snorted. “Now that’s cute.”
Izaya nodded and scooted over to his sister to place a hand on her forehead. “And she’s got fever too~”
Etsuko glanced at Shizuo. “Heiwajima-kun, stop!” she demanded from the incredibly strong guy who was ready to lift up a
truck this time around.
“She looks awfully pale.” Izaya concluded. Maybe she needed to see a doctor.
Etsuko swallowed. “Let’s take her to a doctor then.” she said, recalling Kasuka-kun’s words. She had forgotten all about her
ankle.
Shizuo was standing by their side.
Izaya glared. Since when did everyone get so close to Megumi? She was all his—at least in his twisted imagination. He lifted
Megumi in his arms, careful not to wake her up.
Etsuko wondered what was with the glare. “I’m coming with you.” Shizuo announced. “So am I.” Etsuko added, determined.
Izaya rolled his eyes. What was up with them? On the other hand, he decided that Shinra could help for now.
“He?!...”
“You’re not talking about Shinra, are you?” Shizuo sighed.
“Who’s that?” asked Etsuko, innocently.
Etsuko looked uneasy. She was wondering why was Shizuo so untrusting of that ‘Shinra’ man.
Shinra opened the door. “Ah, Izaya—Oh, Shizuo!” He marked in surprise. “Never thought I’d get to see you two so friendly.”
Izaya rolled his eyes. “Shizu-chan is like a leech.”
Shinra invited them in their house, before looked at Megumi. “Ah, I see…” He said, before Celty pecked her head in. “Ah,
Celty-san!” Izaya grinned from ear to ear. She was indeed the Headless Rider.
Shizuo greeted Celty. The two of them were friends after all.
Etsuko let out a sharp shriek as she stared at the headless woman.
Celty panicked a bit and wrote on her cell phone that she wasn’t going to harm Etsuko.
Shinra took Megumi from Izaya in the meanwhile and told them to wait there while he went to check on her.
Shizuo scratched his head and went to sit on the couch, apparently unaffected.
Etsuko read the message but she was still frightened.
Celty sighed and sat down as well. Izaya already made himself comfortable.
Meanwhile Shinra took his time to look at the small shot marks that Megumi had on her hands. They were from a few tests.
Celty nodded, though it looked sort of freaky and went to get them juice. Izaya glanced around the room.
Shinra gave Megumi medicine through some shots as he then intended to make a few tests on her.
Etsuko kept her eyes on Izaya. “You have some funny friends.”she told him, shivering.
Shizuo chuckled softly. He had long since gotten used to Celty’s… headlessness.
Izaya shrugged in return, though he jumped to his feet as soon as he heard a sharp scream, which he recognized to be
Megumi’s voice.
Etsuko and Shizuo’s heads jerked almost at the same time in the direction the scream came from. “Should we go check on
her?” Etsuko suggested.
But Izaya was already gone. He literally broke the door down. Not really, more like kicked it. Shinra turned towards Izaya.
“Is she..?” “Yeah…”
Etsuko and Shizuo exchanged a silent glance and then followed after Izaya. “What happened?” Etsuko asked, trying to peak
from Izaya’s side.
Izaya looked like he was ready to kill. “Ahh~ How horrible Shinra!” He quickly recovered as he walked by Megumi’s side. “
I thought you could actually do something.” He tsk’ed disappointed, narrowing his eyes at the new shot mark on her arm.
Etsuko noiced Izaya’s expression. The ever laid-back Orihara Izaya. So he had a soft spot for his sister, huh? That was good
to know, Etsuko thought to herself.
Shizuo only watched from the doorway.
Izaya sighed a bit. He sat by Megumi’s side, waiting for her to wake up. Shinra only backed away.
Etsuko watched Shinra leave and then stepped closer to the bed. Shizuo stepped in as well and closed the door behind. “You
seem genuinely concerned for her.” Etsuko commented.
Izaya glanced at her but didn’t say anything in return. He didn’t want to seem weak.
“Heh, don’t flatter yourself. It’s just my responsibility to make sure she is fine.” Izaya replied confidently.
“Aww, how cute! I couldn’t imagine you playing the role of the protective big brother until now.” Etsuko teased happily.
Shizuo took that opportunity to call his little brother and see how he was doing.
Izaya dodged the punch. “But you can’t be an older sister either.”
“Work.” Kasuka replied bluntly.
Etsuko pouted. “What the hell are you talking about!!” she barked.
“I see…” Shizuo replied. “I thought you might want to know that Eriko-chan’s with me… We’re at Shinra’s place.”
Izaya tilted his head. “Don’t make a fuss. She needs to rest.”
“I see.” Kasuka replied. “Is everything alright?”
Etsuko took her time watching Izaya, as a faint smile crept to her lips.
“So… they just kidnapped her?!” Shizuo asked.
Izaya glanced at Shizuo. He couldn’t possibly be that idiotic to start a fight there.
“I have to go back to work.” Kasuka announced.
Suddenly Megumi rose up, holding her head in pain, yet looking scared. Izaya knew what she was going through. She sniffed
a bit as she reached for Izaya’s coat. “I-Iza-nii, they’re here again.” The informant sighed. “No one’s here to steal your head.”
“Huh?” Etsuko opened her eyes when she heard Izaya’s words.
Shizuo blinked. Megumi must’ve been really impressed by Celty…
Megumi merely curled herself in Izaya’s lap. Izaya glared. That Shinra…
Megumi cuddled close to Izaya, as she watched the people around the room.
Megumi looked like a kitty as she made herself comfortable and closed her eyes again.
Etsuko pouted. Yes, she was definitely jealous of how close they seemed.
The next morning, Etsuko opened her eyes and then squinted them to look around the unfamiliar room.
Shizuo was already gone. He had a job, after all.
Megumi opened her eyes, surprisingly finding herself in Izaya’s arms still.
Etsuko smiled softly. “Good morning, Orihara-san, Orihara-kun.” she greeted them.
“Good morning…” Megumi muttered, still sleepy. “Morning~” Izaya greeted cheerfully.
“I’m fine, why are you asking?” Megumi blinked, tilting her head. ( nu isi mai amintea :> )
Izaya sighed. “Man, Shinra surely doesn’t know how to handle his guests ~ “
“Ah, but you were never a guest in my house.” Izaya said, with a sarcastic smile.
“Your soul is as ugly as your face!” Etsuko declared and stuck out her tongue at him, before storming out of the room.
Izaya rolled his eyes. “She’s really idiotic if she thinks that I will get worked up for such words…” He told Megumi, who
only nodded in return.
Etsuko headed toward the kitchen and gasped when she recalled about the headless woman the other night.
Though, the Headless Rider wasn’t around the house at that moment.
“’m hungry.” Megumi replied. Izaya shrugged. “Let’s go out~”
Etsuko sighed. She couldn’t eat those people’s food, just like that… She walked up to the door to put on her sandals when
she realized she was wearing the same clothes as the other night.
“See you later, then, Etsuko-san~” Izaya chirped as he and Megumi left the house.
“Bye…” Etsuko waved them goodbye. She was feeling disheartened. She left the house too, and hesitated about where to go.
Megumi and Izaya went to a restaurant, since they didn’t really want to eat Namie’s food and Megumi wasn’t in the mood for
cooking.
Etsuko took out her phone and dialed Kasuka’s number. She was feeling bad about the incident the other night. Was he mad
at her?
Though, Kasuka didn’t really answer the phone because he was at work and didn’t want to be disturbed unless it was his
brother.
Etsuko sighed and hung up. And on her way home… she bumped into a certain boy.
“Ah, my apologises.” The boy replied simply, though he didn’t really sound like he meant it.
“It’s alright, I didn’t look where I was walking…” Etsuko replied with a small frown. It was true, she had been thinking about
Kasuka.
“You should be careful then, you might bump into unwanted people and cause unnecessary trouble.” The boy said with a
small smile playing across his lips.
“I’ve already bumped into that kind of people… I really don’t think things could get any worse.” Etsuko replied, thinking of
her encounters with Izaya. And Shizuo. And Shinra and Celty.
“You have no idea.” This boy was Aoba. And he had an unknown identity for the time being.
Etsuko took a better look at him. Blue eyes, dark hair… he was kind of cute.
Aoba tilted his head to the side. “You look quite unhappy.”
“Yeah… you could say that my life’s a mess right now.” Etsuko replied and sighed. Kasuka didn’t want to hear from her,
Izaya kept stalking her, she had seen a headless person the other night, and most off all, she had to keep everything a secret
from her brother, to not make him worry unnecessarily.
“I can tell that myself.” Only by looking at her, Aoba could read exactly what she was going through. “Well then, how about
a small drink?”
Etsuko followed him and winced softly. She recalled about losing her job.
Aoba winced himself, since his hand hurt a bit from his encounter with Mikado.
“Wha, what happened? Do you need to see a doctor?” Etsuko asked with concern.
“It’s just a small accident I had while…during a meeting.” Aoba replied. “A doctor isn’t needed. Just another bandage.”
“Then let’s go get you another bandage!” Etsuko replied, deciding it was more important than their drink.
“I have one.” Aoba said as he reached in his bag. He had….quite a lot of stuff there.
“Oh.” Etsuko was slightly surprised to see how well prepared he was for such emergencies.
Aoba reached to unwrap the dirty bandage from around his hand and replace it with a new one. The place look like it had a
hole.
Etsuko gasped. It was quite a scary sighed. She thought she could see through the other side…! Poor thing.
Aoba could sense she nearly pitied him, so he quickly finished wrapping it again.
Etsuko didn’t dare to offer to help him because she was afraid he might not take it well. “Who… who did this to you?”
Etsuko figured it was a lie but decided not to insist. Instead she took a menu and glanced at the drinks list there.
Etsuko decided to go for peach juice, since she liked peaches so much.
Etsuko glanced around and sighed. She recalled about Izaya’s proposal, but she was determined not to accept it. It felt like
selling her soul to the devil.
“Well then,” Aoba started. “Your life is miserable, yet you’re so young.”
“Right when you throught it was impossible for young people like us, huh.” Etsuko snickered. “But yes. I guess part of it is
my fault, but… I don’t know, I can’t control everything that’s going on around me. And this is how things turned pretty bad.”
she added, thinking mostly of Izaya.
“Don’t compare me with you.” Aoba said, though sounding quite harsh. “Did you get involved with Orihara Izaya?”
Etsuko stared at him. “No, I didn’t get involved with him…” she replied, sounding offended.
“And what’s that? Have you gotten involved with Orihara-kun?” Etsuko asked.
Aoba smiled. “Nice try. The difference is that you tell lies, while I don’t.”
Etsuko was slightly surprised. “But that’s impossible, every human tells lies.” she replied, surprised by her own words. “And
I really didn’t get involved with him.”
“Because humans are weak and pathetic. They’d run away even from the smallest thing.” Aoba said matter-of-factly.
“You are a human like me unless you can prove otherwise.” Etsuko replied stubbornly.
“So, are we going to argue over this? I don’t like you already.” Aoba said, suddenly sounding as cold as ice.
Aoba took a sip from his drink after the waiter brought it.
Aoba smiled at the sight of her looking so miserable. Yes, like every single human.
Etsuko mechanically took the cup to her lips, but she didn’t seem to enjoy it.
“Ah, found a new friend already?” Mocked Izaya from behind. Megumi’s eyes widened. Was that…. “Aobaaa!” She cried,
hugging him.
Etsuko startled a bit when she saw Megumi. Her gaze moved to Izaya then. She wouldn’t admit it, but she was slightly happy
to see him.
“See? I didn’t lie.” Aoba replied simply, before he exchanged a glare with Izaya and focused his gaze on Megumi. “Ah, it’s
been a while.” “It has, indeed!”
Etsuko pouted. “What are you doing here?” she asked Izaya.
“The same as you.” Izaya replied. “Ahhh, look at you being all grown up.” Megumi giggled, pinching Aoba’s cheek. The boy
sighed.
Etsuko pouted. Seeing Aoba and Megumi so close made her sick. “Orihara-kun, why don’t you come sit down next to me?”
she offered.
“Ahaha~ I thought you didn’t like me.” Izaya said, smirking. Aoba chuckled lowly.” Not involved with Orihara Izaya at all.”
He mocked.
“Not at all. I just hate seeing him stand over there.” Etsuko replied and gave Izaya a look that urged to sit by her side.
“Not at all.” Aoba said, narrowing his eyes. Did she take him for a fool? Megumi pouted a bit. “Aoba ~ Let’s go for a walk
instead!” She said. Izaya simply sat by her side.
Megumi pulled Aoba up and outside before him and her brother would snap at each other.
“Made a new friend already, I see.” Izaya taunted.
Etsuko glanced at him. “Not quite.” she replied and sighed. “In fact, I think I found someone I dislike more than I do you.”
Etsuko looked down at her hands. “You know… I could really use some money right now…” she confessed. “I’m accepting
your job offer.”
“I told you: We have a deal~” Izaya said, as if he expected such a thing to happen.
“What do I have to do?” Etsuko asked simply, like she wasn’t having fun.
“Ah, just keep an eye of this new friend of yours.” Izaya said.
Etsuko’s eyes widened in surprise. “You mean this Aoba-kun? And I have to spy on him?”
Etsuko stood up and payed for the juice. “Walk me home.” she told Izaya.
“So demanding all of a sudden.” The informant chuckled. “Why don’t you call your brother?”
Etsuko pouted. “If you upset me, then I’ll quit my job.”
Etsuko didn’t bother to reply to that. She just wanted to take a shower and change clothes.
“Oh? What a surprise. I thought you’d be hanging out with your friends again!” Etsuko replied. She was slightly aware that
she hadn’t come home the other night and that she was wearing the same clothes, but could only hope her brother wouldn’t
comment on it.
“I’ve returned since then.” Kida said and stepped in. “Where have you been?”
Etsuko entered the bathroom and undressed before checking the water temperature.
Etsuko returned after a while, wearing a pair of booty shorts and a loose t-shirt, along with a pair of colorfully striped high
socks.
“Then, tell the awesome Kida how was your day!” The boy demanded.
Megumi and Aoba discussed some things regarding the upcoming ball.
“And what can you tell me about him?...” Etsuko asked trying not to sound interested.
Etsuko clicked her tongue. If her brother was friends with that boy, it would have been easier for her to keep an eye on him.
On the contrary, Kida and that boy hated each other to guts.
Etsuko buried her face in the pillow. “Make dinner.” she told Kida.
Etsuko glared at him. “You’re the younger sibling, you do what I say!” she snapped at him, angrily.
“You’re not my boss, nor a spoiled princess.” Kida told her bluntly. Besides, it was about time he’d leave.
Etsuko locked herself in her room and threw herself on the bed. She was both hungry and angry.
Etsuko decided to change to a pair of daisy dukes and a jacket and headed outside as well. She was also wearing a cap and
her rollers.
In the meanwhile, Shizuo could be seen walking down the street. Etsuko spotted him, but he didn’t seem to notice her.
Etsuko took out her phone and stared at it. She wanted to try to call Kasuka again, but she was hesitating to do so.
Etsuko didn’t notice that small drops of rain were falling down all around her.
Megumi glanced at her arm, where she took the most recent shot and sighed.
“Megumi-kun?” a voice called her. It was none other than Shizuo. “What are you doing here, standing in the cold?”
Etsuko saw them and turned around, disgusted.
Megumi startled at the sight of that and turned around. “I’m fine, I’m fine—“ She stated, blankly.
Shizuo tilted his head as he watched her. “Come on, I’ll walk you home.” he offered, like a true gentleman.
Shizuo chuckled, unaffected, and didn’t show any signs of slowing down. In fact, he hurried his pace, since he knew that she
was still sick.
“Not yet.” Shizuo replied surprisingly calmly. The rain was getting heavier so he had to hurry even more. Not long after, they
reached their destination.
Actually, in front of Izaya’s door was curled up none other than Etsuko. She was all wet and trembling.
Megumi only pouted in return and rested her hands against his back, waiting to be put down or something.
“What are you doing here, Shizu-chan? And with Megumi-chan too~” Izaya chirped from behind. He had been out too. And
Shizuo’s frame covered Etsuko, so he didn’t get to notice her.
Shizuo sighed and finally put Megumi down. “You should be more careful with this sister of yours. I’m sick of looking after
her all the time.” he scoffed.
Etsuko didn’t flinch at all, but she was still trembling because of the cold.
Izaya shrugged in a careless manner. “No one asked you to look after her in the first place.” He said, slyly. Megumi cleared
her throat, embarrassed.
Shizuo silently stepped aside from the door, revealing Etsuko. The girl stood up and stepped to the other side of the door,
arms crossed over her chest.
Izaya blinked. “Ah, Etsuko-chan. You look pale.” He told her smiling.
Etsuko wanted to snap at that, but Shizuo stopped her by placing a hand on her shoulder. “Let’s go.” After all, he only came
there to drop Megumi.
“What? You don’t expect me to say: “Ah, Etsuko-chan, you’re welcome to sleep over anytime” just because I gave you a job,
right?” Izaya asked, with a smirk. “Humans are predictable after all.”
“No!” Etsuko snapped, jerking Shizuo’s hand away. “I hate you and I wouldn’t sleep in your house even if you asked me to!
And for your information, it’s Heiwajima-kun that I wanted to see!!” she shouted at him and then turned around, running
away.
Shizuo sighed. Why did he have to babysit everyone…? “Good night.” he told the Orihara siblings simply, and then turned to
follow Etsuko before she got herself into some sort of trouble.
“Have fun~!” Izaya waved at Etsuko in a mocking way. “And tell Masaomi-kun I said ‘Hi’!” He added for the hell of it,
before he closed the door, only to notice that Megumi wasn’t there anymore. She had sneaked out in the meanwhile.
Etsuko gritted her teeth and stopped in her tracks, only to be picked up with one arm by Heiwajima. “What, what the hell?
Put me down! Monster! I’ll shout!!” “You’re already shouting.” Shizuo pointed out. “Besides, I thought you wanted to see
me.” “Who’d want to see you, you’re just a brute.” Etsuko replied bitterly.
“Ahaha, man, personality disorders suck.” Megumi said casually as she walked past them, as if she was actually heading
somewhere.
“Let me go! I wanna kill her!” Etsuko struggled but Shizuo held a firm grip of her. “Oi, Megumi-kun, where you heading?”
“I need food. And I don’t want Namie’s cooking.” Megumi stated boldly, ignoring Etsuko.
Shizuo sighed. It was like he was having two new little sisters to look after now.
“You’re lighter than expected, Buta-chan!” he teased. “Shut up!”
Shizuo unlocked the door and placed Etsuko down. Etsuko huffed and started to walk around the house, after she took off her
rollers.
Shizuo ordered again some pizzas, while Etsuko collapsed on the sofa in the livingroom.
“Heiwajima-ku~n! Pull out the mone~y!” Etsuko shouted at Shizuo from the entrance. The pizza delivery boy was already
there.
Shizuo sighed and took out his wallet to pay, while Etsuko snatched the pizza boxes and opened one.
Etsuko ignored her and devoured already several slices before Shizuo walked by her side. “OI! What’re you doing?!”
“Eating.” Etsuko replied naturally, her mouth full of pizza. She was definitely not a lady. Shizuo nearly facepalmed.
Megumi snickered. Etsuko had no manners at all and she couldn’t help but find it amusing. Even she was more mannered
than that. She glanced at the pizza in silence, wondering whether she’d get the chance to take a slice.
Shizuo sighed and took the other boxes from Etsuko, who let him do so.
After she finished eating, Etsuko let Shizuo know that she was going to sleep.
“G’night, then.” Megumi shrugged and remained in the kitchen for the time being.
Shizuo went straight to his room, and Etsuko fell asleep in the living room.
Megumi looked out the window for the time being and for the second at the ground, a mere thought crossing her mind.
For a second, Megumi let herself free, stretching her arms and simply falling, her thoughts distracting her from the painful
event that was going to happen.
Etsuko blinked several times. She was cold. She rubbed her eyes and started to walk around the house to close all windows.
As Megumi was falling, her back suddenly hit the floor and it felt like the whole world froze for a second, as she startled
from her sleep with a short scream.
“What the heck, don’t scare me like that!...” Etsuko scolded her lightly. “Where are they?” Shizuo demanded, looking
around. He thought that the burglars broke in.

Megumi placed both her hands over her chest, panting softly. That dream felt too real.
Etsuko raised an eyebrow at her. “She just had a nightmare… or something.” she informed Shizuo, who had turned on the
lights.
Megumi was too drawn in the moment to even pay attention to what they were talking around her.
“Come on, she’ll be fine.” Etsuko told Shizuo and grabbed his arm, pulling him away. She didn’t seem to care much about
Megumi’s condition.
Shizuo let himself dragged by Etsuko without a word, but not before turning all of the lights back off.
Etsuko woke up late the next day. She rubbed her eyes as she woked around the house, only to find a note from Shizuo on the
kitchen table, along with just enough money to order something to eat.
Etsuko thought it was about time to go to school as well, but she didn’t really feel like it. Not yet. She didn’t feel like giving
explanations to her teachers and classmates, nor spy on Aoba. Instead, she decided to go home and take a few rows of clean
clothes.
Megumi went to school where she met up with her classmates and even spotted Aoba and scooted to talk with him.
Etsuko stopped in front of the gates of the Reira Academy and stared at the school’s building.
Etsuko turned around to face him, a small smile playing on her lips. He wasn’t exactly her favourite person, but she felt so
lonely… she could use him to pass the time. However, her words were the exact opposite of her feelings. “Will you stop
stalking me already? It’s getting boring.”
“Not stalking, just making sure Megumi is fine.” Izaya replied with a sarcastic smile. “Besides, seems like you like being
lonely.” He told her matter-of-factly. Of course he knew it was the opposite.
“Right…” Etsuko rested her hands on her hips as she watched him. “So, if I was lonely, would you keep me company?” she
asked lightly.
“It’s not in my interest to keep you company.” Izaya said smartly and tilted his head with a sympathetic smile.
“You always bragged about how you loved people so. Are you a liar?” Etsuko defied him.
“I do love people, but that doesn’t mean I love you more.” Izaya said.
“I don’t think you love me at all. You haven’t showed me any love.” Etsuko pointed out.
“Ah~ How rude. Well, that’s fine. I don’t really care what you think.” Izaya shrugged.
“Take care~ Or not, you still lack money.” Izaya said, tilting his head to the side.
Etsuko turned back around and glared. “Yeah, because you took care of that!” she accused, pointing a finger at him.
“Instead of accusing me you should actually stop whining and get a job.” Izaya told her slyly.
Etsuko slowed down for a moment, and then started to run faster.
“A little hungry… but other than that fine!” Etsuko added quickly and started to laugh.
“Ah! You missed school as well. Teachers asked about you.” Megumi replied. “And there’s the fast food nearby.”
“I promise to come to school tomorrow then!” Etsuko said. “And thanks, but I should probably go home now.”
“I see.” Megumi nodded. “Oh, the ball’s coming up! Have you decided who’s your partner, yet?!”
“Ah! N-no, not yet…” Etsuko admitted blushing and glanced at Aoba.
“Oh? Your brother asked me to accompany him!” Megumi declared enthusiastically as Aoba glanced at Etsuko.
“How nice!” Etsuko exclaimed. Did Masaomi do that to get back at her? “Then, I guess Aoba-kun is free?” she asked
deviously.
Megumi smirked an elbowed Aoba playfully. “Ah, yes.” He eventually replied, ignoring Megumi for the time being.

and I'm your villain
although I don't give a damn if
I'm your villain
Because serious
You're so serious
Etsuko giggled. So Aoba was her date. Things were starting to get better already.
Etsuko sighed happily. “Can I treat you to lunch, then?” she offered. After all, she still had some change in her pockets.
“We can go eat together.” Megumi suggested. “That sounds about right.” Aoba agreed.
Megumi and Aoba glanced at each other and then followed Etsuko.

“This looks really good!” Megumi appreciated. “It’s alright.” Aoba nodded.
“I’m glad.” Etsuko said and motioned them to their seats before she herself sat down at the table and took a menu to skim
through it.
Megumi took her seat as well and Aoba sat between the girls, looking through the menu.
Etsuko closed the menu after she decided on steak with chips and a king sized ice-cream for dessert. [ LOL ]
Megumi decided on soup and crisps and pancakes for dessert. Aoba sighed. He didn’t eat much, but he decided to order a
soup as well.
“I was so scared that you were dating!...” Etsuko said suddenly, looking between Megumi and Aoba.
“Aren’t you too old, though?” Aoba asked, smirking. Megumi giggled.
Etsuko’s mouth hung open, no witty replies coming out. She couldn’t believe that!
Megumi coughed awkwardly. “Aoba, you shouldn’t really….tell everything.” She stated awkwardly. “Why? I don’t like
ditching subjects.”
Etsuko looked away, uneasy. She was trying her best to be nice and they just had to ruin everything.
Etsuko sighed and glanced at the boy. “I wish Aoba-kun was more gentle…”
“I guess telling the truth can be a virtue…” Etsuko pondered, to ease the tention a little bit.
Etsuko grinned widely at him and then started to chew on a French frie.
Etsuko ate the steak in silence, thinking about the recent events.
Megumi was thinking about her recent nightmares, while Aoba was thinking of the ball.
“I… I meant the fact that it’s healing…” Etsuko replied uneasily.
Etsuko glanced at her dessert and then held a spoonful of ice-cream close to Aoba’s mouth. “Want some? Say ‘ahh’…”
Aoba’s eyes narrowed. He wanted to say ‘Get this out of my face’, but “Ahh…” He mumbled. Megumi giggled.
Etsuko giggled too and stuffed the ice-cream into his mouth. “Delicious, isn’t it?”
