Conclusion

Thereare frequent election in one or more states and if the elections to the local bodies are
included. There is no year without some elections taking place. The contention is that with
multiple election, the model code of conduct is in force for much of the time, which prevent
the government from initiating new projects and ultimately slows down development as
announcements are more for the vote bank than development of nation.
The topic “One Nation One Election” is important for research in current scenario
because to know the impact of simultaneous election on results of election and effectiveness
of it. To know whether people are comfortable with it or not. What could be done to make
importance in it by government. The research also helps to study the challenges in front of
the government to establish “One Nation One Election” in the country.
The idea of simultaneous elections is not now in India. In 1951-52, the first general
election to the Lok Sabha was held simultaneously with all state assemblies. This practice of
simultaneous elections continued till the general election of 1967. The practice got disrupted
due to premature dissolution of some state legislative assemblies in 1968. Lok Sabha itself
dissolved prematurely in 1970. As a result, the election to the Lok Sabha and State
Legislative Assemblies are being held separately. This idea of simultaneous election was
floated long back by former deputy prime minister of India, LK Advani.
In recent times, the idea got support from president and Prime Minister. President
Pranab Mukherjee has endorsed the idea by mentioning it in his address to the joint session
of the parliament ahead of the budget session. Report of law commission and the
parliamentary standing committee have also favoured simultaneous elections.
The experience of working in group was good. When we first began working in group,
it was a bit of challenge. However, as we settle in and got to know one another-something
began to develop. It was fun but inspiring experience that helped us to identify our strength
and weakness and it was very useful for learning how to work effectively in group.
