2 The following forces (all pull) act at a point : (i) 25 N due North ; (ii) 10 N North-East ; (iii)
15 N due East ; (iv) 20 N 30° East of South ; v) 30 N 60° South of West. Find the resultant
force.

3 The frictionless pulley A shown in Figure is supported by two bars AB and


AC which are hinged at B and C to a vertical wall. The flexible cable DG
hinged at D, goes over the pulley and supports a load of 20 kN at G. Identify
the forces in the bars AB and AC.

Two spheres A and B weighing 100 N and 75 N respectively and with
the corresponding radii 75 mm and 50 mm are placed in a container as
shown in Fig. Determine the support reactions.
