EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This plan is about a business plan of the self-designable custom-made cloth manufacturing farm
“Bangaleeni”. It’s an organization that wants to contribute to the respect of the patriotism every
Bangladeshi living outside Bangladesh bears in his heart. Despite their will to carry Bengali culture
many find it difficult to get such an opportunity. Thus “Bangaleeni” decided to fill up the market
gap and fulfill the needs, wants and demands of this niche market. Bangaleeni will offer its own
designs on sale as well as take orders from its customers with their own customized designs.
Bangaleeni’s customers will be able to customize their dresses with different fabrics (Muslin, Silk,
Cotton), design work category (Embroidery, Karchupi, Block, Yolk) and everything associated
with the dress. This will allow the non-resident Bangladeshis to carry their own culture whenever
they want to. The additional benefit that Bangaleeni will provide is the home delivery service of
the products. Thus the objective of Bangaleeni is to let its users feel like home even if they are not.
Lastly this plan shows the projections and forecasts how this business might turn in future.

1.0 Introduction
From the dawn of human life, human have been using different things to protect their skin and
body parts from dust, germs, pollution etc. In the journey of human life from the pre-human era to
the civil era, people have transformed much and also have transformed the things they used to
wear, in modern era what we call cloths. In between these thousands of years many additional
segments have been formed in the human life such as religion, country, nation, race, ethnicity,
culture etc. All these segments of human life differs from one another on many aspects. Cloths is
one of those aspects.
Just like any other country and culture, we Bangladeshis also have our own Bengali culture. We
also love to carry these cultural traditions along us to future. But sadly a few do not get the
opportunity due to do so. The non-resident Bangladeshis in different countries find it really
difficult to find a dress representing our Bengali culture regardless of their willingness and their
affordability.
Thus we decided to come up with a solution for those Bangladeshis living all across the world. We
thus decided to launch a company just to make dresses for those Bangladeshis which will represent
our culture.

1.3 Nature of the Business

The business that we want to start is of Clothing. We will offer our own designs on sale as well as
take orders from our customers with their own customized designs. Our customers will be able to
customize their dresses with different fabrics (Muslin, Silk, Cotton), design work category
(Embroidery, Karchupi, Block, Yolk) and everything associated with the dress.
For the initial phase we’ll collect and record data manually but in future we have a plan of
designing our own customized app.

1.4 Statement of the financing needed

Quite a certain capital is needed to establish the business successfully, and run its operations. First
of all, the owners will be required to sign a contract of ownership, since there will be few legal
requirements which must be met, and formalities to fulfill in order to establish the business. In
order to cover all the fixed costs, and to complete the legal paper works, the owners will need a
significant amount. Thus, we plan to meet our finance requirements through personal sources
including our friends, relatives, and our respective parents. Later once, we start generating profits
through our business, we will be able to repay all our debts, and as well as meet other expenses
incurred by the business, such as the salaries.

2.2 Pricing Model

We talked to our friends leaving in USA and got an idea of how prices of basic dresses are. From
that we also got to know that how much money they want to pay for those products. For example
the price range for a plain tops is between USD 70-100 whereas it will cost hardly BDT. 1,000 to
BDT. 1,500 for a well-designed tops. The amount that they are willing to pay is USD 40-50 (BDT

Page | 3
3200-4000) for plain tops, since this will save them half the money they now need to spend. Based
on this result, we will add a percentage mark-up to its manufacturing cost per unit.

2.3 Social Goal

Consumers believe businesses should help society more, but our begging only one of the
participating businesses feel they actually meet those expectations. We try to found ways to meet
the customers’ community’s needs in a way that fits their corporate philosophy, often by
collaborating with other businesses. Organizations must look at their social goals as more than
good public relations, and realize their intrinsic value in maintaining the viability of their business.
Traditional Roles-In our business, the roles of business as it operates within society, we
interpret three basic functions as social goals already, based on securing and improving a
community’s quality of life.
a. Employment: provide occupations for people to produce goods and services the
community needs.
b. Taxes: grant revenue for government to direct and maintain defense, infrastructure
and social services on a scale no individual business could provide. 3. Wealth
creation: done responsibly, people can invest in business to ensure a relatively
stable future and enjoy dividend income from business profits.
Community Indicators- A community indicator is defined as any quantifiable metric to
represent the condition of a community. We make a those kinds of product which the community
and the nationality infects to our community with the proper trend and also can reflect our Bengali
community.

2.4 Financial Sustainability

We believe that a financial sustainability can be moved easily for growing up a business. That’s
why we are outlining the four key components to help support of our firm financial
sustainability:

2.4.1 Sustainability
 Access to Capital-
Trust us on this one, it takes money to make money, and you’ll need a lot of it to run a
successful staffing business. Typically, we will need initial startup capital to get staffing
firm up and running, ongoing working capital to maintain our day-to-day operations and
investment capital to put back into your company and support growth. To access this capital,
you can either self-finance (if your staffing firm is financially sustainable), fund through
equity infusion (if you have the money to front the operations yourself), take a loan out at a
bank (the most traditional form of lending) or work with a specialty finance agency (yep,
that’s us).

 Profitability
When it comes to profitability, balance counts (and there can be negatives on each side). If
our profitability is too low, it may have a negative impact on your cash flow and increase
stress throughout your organization. Low profits leave no room for revenue or expense

Page | 4
fluctuations and limit your ability to reinvest, which can ultimately compromise your
financial sustainability. On the other side of the token, if our profitability is too high (yes,
there is such a thing) it may open up to undercutting by lower-priced competitors, especially
MSPs. Sustained undercutting could lead to destructive price wars in the market and
contribute to overall financial instability.

 Reporting
Taking the time to assess staffing business is critical to healthy, sustained growth. Creating
a plan to review our finances on a regular basis allows to adjust in time to reverse a negative
trend or capture a unique positive opportunity. Whatever your method of secured capital,
solid financial reporting will be required to secure increased levels of capital suppo rt. And
when it’s time to sell your business or grow through mergers and acquisitions, solid
financials are a must.

 Planning
It can be surprisingly easy to stray from set path to sustainable growth if do not have own
personal business plan to keep you on course. Our financial planning should be flexible
enough to allow for market changes and unexpected opportunities, but strong enough to
keep you from veering into dangerous, unsustainable territory.

2.4.2 Eco-Friendly
We will be starting pretty small in the initial stage. Thus we will not have the necessity to start
with such big steps but in future we will forward to adopt a few strategies, such as:
 Adopting Renewable Energy

We can use sustainable energy sources, such as solar energy, it gets a tax advantage over the
businesses that don’t. In an effort to support renewable energy initiatives, the government offers
tax breaks, rebates, and other monetary incentives for businesses that switch over to green energy
sources. By supporting clean energy that business can save a considerable amount of money.
 Other Eco-Friendly Behaviors

Finally, supporting other environmental practices in our office can also save some money. For
instance, more careful production processes can help us reduce wasted materials. Additionally,
being more conscious about our energy usage can reduce our business’s heating, electricity, and
water costs as well. Simply making small efforts to better the environment can also benefit of our
company.

2.4.3 Ethical
Our product and financial stability revolves around building the best product, causing no
unnecessary harm, and using business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental

Page | 5
crisis. And lead and inspire a sustainable way to be fashionable. They source sustainable fabrics
and vintage garments while incorporating better practices throughout their supply chain to make
beautiful styles at a fraction of the environmental impact of conventional fashion

3.0 Business Environment Analysis

3.1 PESTEL Analysis

POLITICAL FACTORS:
The present political situation of Bangladesh is stable, however, in the near future, if the political
condition becomes unstable, it is unlikely for us to suffer. This is because, during the times of riot,
or strike, the business will still be able to run its operations.
ECONOMIC FACTORS:
USA having one of the strongest economies of this world, their residents will be able to afford our
products at the offered price.
SOCIAL FACTORS:
People residing abroad have much likings and fondness for our own culture, and are looking
forward to carry it despite staying away during the festivals. This is an opportunity for us to cater
to this segment’s needs, wants, and demands.
TECHNOLOGICAL FACTORS:
We will utilize the advantage of the development of technology in Bangladesh which includes
Facebook and Instagram. In order to meet with the current market trends, we will also be
developing a mobile app and a website in future which will help the brand too keep its customers
engaged with the brand.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
The entrepreneurs of the business will be socially responsible and will not be conducting any
activity which will harm the environment. We will use paper packets instead of poly packs.
LEGAL FACTORS:
The government has passed few rules and regulations to protect companies from unfair
competition, and to protect consumer rights. We will be following every rules and regulations that
has been passed by the government.

3.2 Porter’s Five Forces

Page | 6
Threat of New Entry: Since we are going for a niche untapped market and the expenses required
to take the initiative is not high enough, it is quite possible for many people to enter the market.
Bargaining Power of the Suppliers: As we will not be taking products in bulk our suppliers might
think of having the upper hand in negotiation, but since there is are thousands of fabric provider
from whom we can purchase clothes, they will not have a strong bargaining power.
Bargaining Power of the Buyers: As we will be dealing in a very niche market our customers
will have a strong bargaining power. But since we will be offering services at a very affordable
price for our target audience, they won’t be needing to bargain.
Threat of Substitutes: We do not have any direct competition. Rather we have a few indirect
competition from India and Pakistan who are serving their non-resident citizens living in USA
their cultural clothing. Thus we do not have much worries about our substitutions.
Competitive Rivalry: As we will be the pioneers of this segment of our country, before any giant
player joins the league, we will not have much competition to care about.

3.3 SWOT
SWOT analysis means analyzing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Strengths and
opportunities help any company to attain its desired goal and objectives. In contrast, weaknesses
and threats make it difficult for any company to attain its desired goal and objectives.
The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of বাঙালীনি are analyzed below:

Strengths:
 Our biggest strength is that we will spend expenses in BDT but earn revenue in USD.
 We have a full control on both our production and distribution.
 No direct substitutes.
 Carefully planned marketing tactics.
 Well trained tailors to prepare the products.
 Well trained Managers to be appointed for customer service, procurement and operations.
 Low cost of products and cheap labor cost

Weaknesses:
 Very small target market
 No company websites in the initial stage

Opportunities:

Page | 7
 We have a great opportunity to grow in the existing market with such a high quality brand
image and offer new products.
 We can tab different market segment inside our country.
 Cheap labor: Labor is not as cheap anywhere in the world as it is in Bangladesh.

Threats:
 A few Indian and Pakistani brands are offering customized cloths to consumers of our
targeted country.
 Traffic congestion: All of the market outlets of our suppliers are located in Dhaka city.
Most of the time there is a crazy traffic jam almost everywhere in Dhaka city which leads
to increase cost like petrol or gas and delay in acquiring raw materials and deliver finished
goods into the mailing center.

3.4 Stake Holders Analysis

Since we will not be going for equity or debt financing, we will not have any stakeholder.

4.0 Description of Venture

4.0.1 Vision
A vision statement defines the way an organization or enterprise will look in the future. Vision is
a long-term view, sometimes describing how the organization would like the world to be in which
it operates. Our vision statement is:
“To be the Pioneer in Custom-made Outfits from Bangladesh with Professionalism, Quality,
Reliability and Trust.”

4.0.2 Mission
A mission statement defines the fundamental purpose of an organization or an enterprise,
succinctly describing why it exists and what it does to achieve its Vision. It is sometimes used to
set out a "picture" of the organization in the future. A mission statement provides details of what
is done and answers the question: "What do we do?" Our mission statement is:
“To make custom Clothes with best Fabrics by Professionals and set benchmark, to grow with
Sincerity, Honesty and Care to the Consumers to satisfy them in full.”

4.0.3 Reasons for going into business

Page | 8
We all have friends residing in USA. All of them are non-resident Bangladeshis. From them we
heard of this problem of not getting dresses during the festivals there, which Bengalis usually wear.
From that insight we did our research and found out the existing market gap. Thus we want to tab
it and become the pioneers in this segment of clothing industry.

4.0.4 Development Work that has been done till date

From the inception of this idea in mind, many research have been done on the pricing of the
products (fabric, cloth, additional items such as buttons, stones, zip, elastic) and services (tailoring,
embroidery, block, batik, karchupi) required for our business.
After completing the research, we talked to a friend of ours and offered her to make the dresses
for herself and her family for Eid ul Fitr 2018 as our pilot project. Upon her consent we made 14
set of dresses for her and her family according to their preferred designs and provided sizes.

4.1 Product
In the initial stage, the products that we will serve are Custom made women wear. Such as:
 Salwar Kameez
 Saree
 Ethnic Tops
 Kurtees

All of these will have a touch of Bengali tradition or culture. Furthermore we have intentions of
expanding our product line to western pattern dresses as well, such as gown, skirts, off-shoulder
tops etc.

4.2 Service
In the initial stage the only service we will offer is to prepare clothes for our customers. But in
future, if we can make profits, we will expand our services to other segments as well.

4.3 Size of Business

We will enter the market with a niche target market in mind. We will position ourselves with our
quality and establish ourselves in our customers’ minds as the most reliable clothing brand for
them. This will lead us to use earned media as our marketing tool.
Thus we will start small, with a dream of a large growth.

4.4 Office Equipment and Personnel

We will be offering services as agents or intermediaries to non-resident Bangladeshis, thus we
don’t need an office at the initial stage. A small inventory in a garage of one of our owners will
serve well as an office for the time being.
In the initial stage we will be starting with 3 employees only.

Page | 9
i. Customer Care Officer: His task will be to communicate with our clients on a daily
basis whenever required. The feedbacks, suggestions should be noted by him and
conveyed to the operations officer.
ii. Operations & Procurement Officer: His task will be to source the items required for
a dress to be made. He will also be assigned to monitor the modifications (embroidery,
block, batik) and production (tailoring) of the dresses.
iii. Social Media Executive: A graphics designer will be assigned for this position. His
task will be to create social media posts and put them on digital platforms. Furthermore
as we do not have the capacity to let our clients’ trial the products, he will be assigned
to design images of our clients wearing the desired outfit of her choice to give her a
vision experience.

5.0 Service Delivery Model

5.1 Process
We will take orders from our customers along with their size measurements and the designs of
customization. After getting order we will make the estimates of how many items will be needed
and at what quantity to fulfill the order of the customer. After that the procurement level starts.
Our procurement and logistics officer will be visiting the selected market places for sourcing and
procuring the best quality fabric and essential items. After procurement has been done, the items

Page | 10
will be sent to the tailor to start his operation. He’ll be clearly instructed with the expectations and
desire of our customer and given a clear idea of how he needs to complete this dress. After the
tailor is done with his task our officers will examine if the dress is capable to fulfill our client’s
demand and if it is according to customer’s desire or not. Once the quality has been checked, the
Dress will be taken to the warehouse where it will be ironed and packed in our pack. After the final
touchups the product starts its journey to Post Office for its flight on Express Mail Service (EMS),
an initiative of an initiative where Bangladeshis can send anything weighting up to 20 kg to
anywhere in this world within 7 days. Once the dress has been delivered we will ask our clients to
help us with their kind feedbacks and suggestions. By taking the feedbacks and suggestions on our
products from our clients’, its users’ our process completes.

5.2 Physical Plant

We will be making customized dresses at a minimum of 1 order per design. Thus we don’t
require any physical plant.

5.3 Machinery and Equipment

We will be purchasing all the items required to fulfill the order of our clients. Furthermore we
will be outsourcing the work of Tailoring instead of setting up our own tailor. For the initial
stage we will be outsourcing almost everything but in future we’ll go for vertical expansion and
start setting up workstations of our own.
Until then, we will not be needing any machinery and equipment for our operations.
But for communicating with our clients and to prepare the marketing tools we will be required to
have these essential equipment:
 2 Computers
 Internet Modem
 Active Internet Connection

5.4 Names of Suppliers of Raw Materials

We will be making customized dresses at a minimum of 1 order per design. Thus we don’t
require any fixed supplier since we will not be buying any item at bulk quantity since it will
increase our inventory, increase both our holding and carrying cost and also result into a negative
cash flow as the investment won’t give us much profit. Rather we will select a few market places
were quality products at the most reasonable price will be found and our Logistics and
Procurement Officer can source it from those places. They are:
 Mirpur 11 Kapor Bazar
 Mirpur 1 Thaan Bazar
 New Market
 Gawsia
 Sophura Silk (Only for Maslin)
 Mirpur 10 Benarasi Palli

6.0 Operational Plan

6.1 Description of Company’s Operation

Our primary focus will be to serve our customers by preparing their dresses according to their
desire and according to their choice. Since we are entering the market to serve a niche segment we
will go for Pull strategy. In pull strategy companies prepare products after getting orders. We will
do the same in our company. After we get orders from our clients, our procurement officer will
start his activities. He’ll get the actual requirements of the essential items for our customer’s order
from the tailor and start sourcing. After the procurement has been done, he’ll leave them to the
outsourced tailor. He’ll always monitor if the dress is being prepared according to our client’s
desire or not. Once the dress is ready he’ll drop it at the Post Office from where we will be making
the international shipment through Express Mail Service (EMS), an initiative where Bangladeshis
can send anything weighting up to 20 kg to anywhere in this world within 7 days. The destinations
consists the likes of USA, UK and any other country on this planet.

6.3 Technology Utilization

We will bring an app for the customers to calculate and check their bills by themselves by putting
in just their measurements. This technology can easily be offered through our website
simultaneously as well. Other than that we will use smart menus for our customers to place orders
through their smart devices seeing their bills without us having to calculate all the items needed
and let them know of it. This will reduce the hassle for customers to wait for our managers to
calculate and inform, as they will be able to place order themselves, and whenever they want. All
these utilization of advanced technology will play a vital role to serve customers effectively in
future.

7.3 Promotion
Advertising:
We will post advertisements in multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, Snapchat
and Instagram whichever our target base uses the most.
Digital Marketing:
Since we will be targeting the non-resident Bengalis of USA we will heavily invest in digital or
interactive marketing. We will develop the following types of digital advertisements:
 Display Advertisements: We will develop display advertisements in the form of banner
advertisements and place it in US based websites which are somehow relevant to fashion
lifestyle.
 Search Engine Optimization: We will have presence in multiple social media platforms,
including Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, and will also develop a website in future. It

will regularly post contents in all of its social media sites, and as well as on its website to
stay active in all platforms. This will help the brand to organically stay in the first page of
popular search engines such as Google Inc.
 Social Media Marketing: We will create a Facebook page for the brand, and will regularly
post contents such as print advertisements, our produced dresses, their prices, and as well
as post pictures of the customers (if provided permission). We will also develop an
Instagram page for the brand, where we will frequently post pictures of the brand’s
prepared dresses. Other than that, we will also create a Snapchat account for the brand,
where the entrepreneurs will regular post similar activities.
 Referral Marketing: In order to promote the brand, we will conduct referral marketing.
We will allow our customers to avail 10% discount on our services upon checking-in our
location on their respective Facebook account, while keeping the audience of this post
public.
 Website: We will also develop a website for the customers to learn more about our
offerings.

Sales Promotion: In order to encourage customers to let us make their dresses, we will conduct
some sales promotional activities:
 Coupons: We will develop QR codes to allow our customers to avail 10% discount upon
scanning the code. They will be able to use this discount on their first purchase from us.
Other than that, we will also provide coupons to our customers, so that they can use this
coupon to get 10% discount on their next purchase. This way, customer retention will be
ensured.
 Price-offs: We will announce “happy hours” during time when there is off season for
tailors, customers will be able to enjoy 50% discount on selected dress items.

7.4 Place
We will use a direct channel strategy to deliver our offered services to our customers. We are
planning to adopt E-Commerce as our direct channel strategy in order to connect with its
customers:
E-Commerce: As mentioned earlier, we will create a Facebook page for the brand, and as well as
develop a website for this brand, through which the customers will be able to connect with
the brand. Both the Facebook page, and the website will have all the relevant contact details of the
brand’s manager. Therefore, it will help the customers to reach and communicate with them.

7.5 Packaging

Page | 14
We will use paper packs for our brand instead of poly packs. However, very thin poly bags will
be used to save the dresses from getting sprinkled.

7.6 Positioning
We will position ourselves with our premium quality and establish ourselves in our customers’
minds as the most reliable clothing brand for them, who’ll not only produce comfortable dresses
for them, but also allow them to customize their dresses as much as they want.

7.7 People
As mentioned earlier we will be offering services as agents or intermediaries to non-resident
Bangladeshis, thus we don’t need an office at the initial stage. A small inventory which will be set
up in the garage of one of our owners will serve as an office for the time being.
Thus in the initial stage we will be starting with 3 employees only.

8.0 Organizational Plan

8.1 Form of Ownership

The business will be comprised of five partners. The partners are going to invest in this business
and become the principle shareholders. But if the business needs to grow more in future than new
investors are welcomed to inject money.

8.2 Identification of Partners

Primarily our business will be funded by ourselves equally 20% by the following five members:

1) Md. Asif Al Mashrur
2) MohammadMostafa
3) Rubaiya Prova
4) Md. Ali Reza Newaz
5) Liza Bhuiya

Terms of Agreement:
1) Each partner should have equal contribution to any sorts of investments.
2) Partners would get equal share of profits and bear any kind of losses equally.
3) No one can withdraw their allocated profit for first six months
4) For any kind of business proposition from a partner, he or she has to get the
consent of all the other partners. To deal with conflict, votes will be counted
and the decision of the majority of the partners would be granted.
5) Admitting new partners for expansion can happen but it will be according to
Term-4 of this agreement.
6) For any kind of withdrawal or death of a partner, we will follow the Partnership
Acts.

8.3 Authority of Principals

All the partners have equal authority. All of the partners will be general in other words; all of them
will have the authority over their specific responsibilities. As far as debt and capital and legal
obligations are concerned, every partner will share equal responsibility. The liabilities would also
be same. On the other hand, there’s also a benefit since when it comes to tax payments and profits,
the profits will not be taxed to the business, but rather will pass directly through the partners who
will then include the gains on their individual tax returns.

9.0 Assessment of Risk

9.1 Evaluate weakness of business
The biggest challenge we will face in this clothing business is the complexity of customers’
customized design. Different customers will order verities of design which will be a big challenge
for the company. The other difficulties we will face is investment capital. As we are planning to
offer people our own designed clothing and also offer to provide them their customized products,
we lots of capital to run the entire business properly.

9.2 New Technologies

We will bring an app for the customers to calculate and check their bills by themselves by putting
in just their measurements. This technology can easily be offered through our website
simultaneously as well. Other than that we will use smart menus for our customers to place orders
through their smart devices seeing their bills without us having to calculate all the items needed
and let them know of it. This will reduce the hassle for customers to wait for our managers to
calculate and inform, as they will be able to place order themselves, and whenever they want. All
these utilization of advanced technology will play a vital role to serve customers effectively in
future.

9.3 Contingency Plans

For the contingency plan, we can rent a showroom for the physical presence of our company. In
our country people are more reliable for physical store rather than the virtual store. People are
more comfortable with showroom because they want to see the product physically and want to
choose the product from those. We think that would be a great contingency plan to build our
company properly. Thus we would go for a physical store for Bangaleeni if we cannot suffice the
expectations of our primary target market.

10.0 Financial Plan

Initially we would like to start our business with self- investment. It is very easy to understand that
bank or financial institution will not lend us loan at very beginning. All of our partners will equally
provide our needed initial investment. Every member will provide Tk 4,00,000 as capital for the
first year of our business. Initial investment for our business is 20, 00,000Tk.

Page | 18
We assume that we will manage our running capital and further investment requirement from our
retained earning which will generate through properly run our business.

10.1 Assumptions
We assume that our sales volume will increase 5% to 10% every year. Due to our business type
and sales confirmation we expect a reasonable profit from first year. We also expect that year to
year this profit volume will increase.

= 2, 07,375/ 17, 40,000
= 12%, seems that it has good return on its investment.

10.5 Breakeven Analysis

Our break-even analysis is based on our estimated costs, the costs we bring about to keep the
business running. Fixed costs include payroll, utilities, and equipment costs.
Breakeven point= Fixed cost/ (unit sales price- unit variable costs)
= 2, 78,500/ (150-23)
= 2, 192.9 unit
Break even sales in Tk is equal to 2,192*150= 3,28,800Tk

10.6 Sources and Applications of funds
Since we will be going for self-funding instead of Debt financing or Equity financing, we do not
have to worry much for our sources of funds.

Conclusion
Finally we can state that our business were we will be investing quite a significant amount by self-
funding it will beneficial for us in the long run to not have any investor or equity partner, but in
the initial stage while building the brand we might face some difficulties. Yet, we believe that our
dedication and efforts will allow us to fulfill the demand of our target customer and help us secure
a position in the market as the pioneers of this sector of the clothing industry.
