Standard Operating Procedure for Castable, Refractory work at Pre-heater. Kiln inlet,
Title
TAD & Cooler

1.0 Criteria:

To provide guidelines for safe working at Pre-heater, Kiln inlet, TAD & Cooler
2.0 Scope:

Applies for working at Pre-heater, Kiln, Cooler and TAD.

3.0 Responsibility: HOD and Sr. Officers and Officers.


4.0 Procedure:
1. Wear the Personnel Protective Equipments like Helmet, Nose Mask etc

2. Ensure no coating is there near and above the working area. If there try to remove.

3. Check for dust or loose material and remove before entering inside.

4. At pre-heater, LC to be taken for PH fan and confined space work permit also to be taken.

5. At Kiln inside, LC to be taken for Kiln main drive and aux. drive too. Confined space work
permit also to be taken.

6. At Cooler inside, LC to be taken for Cooler drives, kiln Main drive, Cooler fans and
cooler ID fan too.

7. If work is in Cyclones make sure meal chute is dummied.

8. Vibrating machine to be checked for working condition.

9. Take Line Clearance From Electrical Department.

10. Scaffolding arrangement to be done properly.

11. Ensure safety belt is tightening properly during working on scaffolding.

12. Don’t keep unnecessary material on the scaffolding platform.

13. Don’t overload the scaffolding platforms.

14. Clean the area properly.

15. Anchor welding work to be done as per drawing/instruction by HOD (oper).

16. Should not see welding without wearing welding goggles.

17. Shuttering to be made properly as per requirement

18. Castable to be mixed with recommended percentage of water in mixer.

19. Proper expansion joints to be provided.

20. If brick work is going on check brick holder fixing and retainer plate welding condition
and proper expansion joints.

21. Remove shuttering after proper setting of the castable.

22. Check the condition of the castable work after shuttering removal.

23. Apply hot air with hot air gun to castable for curing

24. Repair/patchwork to be carried out if any portion of work is improper

EnMS:

25. To be calculated for how much quantity is consumed of refractory / castable accordingly
issue to be given from stores dept

26. Spillage and waste of refcastable and mixing of more than required to be avoided

27. To be utilized refcastable mixing machine with design capacity and do not run with
under load or overload of the mixing machine.

28. Mixing machine and vibrating machines -Idle running to be avoided.

29. Switch off the lights and remove the connections after completion of the work
