Teacher Observations: Genre: Narrative Language Focus: Sentence Structure [planned with Stash and coached her in class term 2, 2019. This involved regular planning time along with reflection time after the lesson. Stasha plans for writing using an explicit and systematic approach throughout the TLC cycle. Stasha plans incorporating explicit teaching principle for new learning. By using this instructional approach her lessons for new learning are not only explicit, but predictable maximizing students’ learning capacity. She clearly states the learning intention and success criteria at the start of every lesson She uses the gradual release of responsibility. Stasha uses the interactive white board as a teaching aid. Shes clear in her explanations and ensures learning is presented in small chucks. She provides students with practise time to ensure success when student complete the work independently. Stasha is observant of her students’ progress and regularly checks their understanding, differentiating throughout the lesson by explaining concepts again for those who require it. Stasha ends her lessons with reflection where students are asked to explain What are we learning? Why are we learning it? Keep up the great teaching Stasha.
