Table 3 implies the gender role stereotypes portrayed by the four main characters in relation to the level

of equality which is CONTROL.

For Willy Loman who represents the father in the story, respondents were again asked if it is right for a
father to take full control of his family’s actions, decisions, and desires.

42 of the respondents take their cravings to answer the question willingly whose idea reached the same
views which comprised highest result. The respondents’ awareness on giving freedom among every
member in the family is greatly acknowledge, thus, promoting peace and harmony in the family is one of
the vital goals a family should equipped.

As expressed by them;

“No because every member of the family has the

capacity to talk, act, and make better decisions.

the father must also give freedom for his family to

choose a career and must establish trust and respect

to avoid family conflict. Father’s primary role is not to

take control of his family but to work in order to attain

family’s basic needs”.

According to an internet source , sharing decisions is a back and forth process between
educators, families, and children that involves seeking and asking.  When early childhood
educators ask children and families for their ideas, thoughts, feelings and solutions to problems
there are many benefits.
The benefits are the following; commitment and working towards a common goal create a
strong sense of community; children have a voice, everyone feels included – that they belong,
Strong resilient relationships develop and so much more can be achieved.
Likewise, if the father allows his members to share whatever ideas and thoughts they can impart
to the family, then there will be a positive outcome in which it will lead to create peace and unity
among them. Each member of the family should build trust and respect and parents should give
responsibility for their children to decide in order to enhance their decision –making and build
better ideas for their future. As parents it is therefore, part of the responsibilities to impart
advises to children and listen to their plea and providing the basic needs is the primary role of
parents for their children’s growth.
Moreover, if all members of the family embrace the freedom to communicate within them, it may
also develop their sense of commitment towards other people, increase their confidence and
self – esteem in the community and create an environment full of trust, respect, and amnesty
particularly in dealing with others in the community or society they are living.

Furthermore, on the part of Linda Loman as the mother in the story, the respondents were
questioned if it is right for a wife to never insist her opinions and decisions to her husband.
48 out of 50 respondents arrived the same ideas which comprised the highest result. The
respondents are very much aware that a wife should insist her opinion in the family as a partner
and being also a mother. It is normal for them that a mother will insist to a decision to make the
family’s action in order.
As they uttered:
“No, because having the freedom of being able to insist
ones opinion in decision – making made every woman feels
that they are important, respected by their husbands and
maintains harmonious relationships within the family”

In 2008, Pew Research Center proclaimed public consensus that women were the decision
makers in the home (Pew Research Center 2008). Drawing on classic research by Blood and Wolf
(1960), the assumption in Pew’s declaration was that women hold more power than men within
families because they are more likely to be seen as the final decision makers over home matters.

In a family, wives should be given the right to talk and share some advises. A woman must be
given freedom to insist her idea because they can established also better and clearer results. So,
in a family both must to share concepts for the common good, thus, a family that bonds
together holds great assurance to find success.

In the long way, if a family are close because of the shared goals and responsibilities they
assumed, then, there could be an assurance that all renders respect, unity, and peace within.
