CONTROL SYSTEM EXAMPLE

INTRODUCTION

A control system can be defined as an arrangement of physical components connected or related

in such a manner as to command, direct, or regulate itself or another system.

Control systems play a vital role in most of the industrial operations, they are designed to control
and operated most of the systems.

SILO TEMPERATURE MONITORING SYSTEM

This is a temperature monitoring system used to control and maintain grain temperature in silos.

This is the one of the mostly used control system in wheat flour, maize and sunflowers milling
industries

The system consist of temperature sensors, controllers and fans which are used to regulate the silo
temperature.

SILO TEMPERATURE MONITORING SYSTEM WORKING

This is an example of a closed control system where the feedback system is employed to the system

The input to the system is the desired grain temperature inside the silo, this is fed to the controller
for comparison with the actual silo temperature.

Temperature sensor is used to measure the silo temperature and return the temperature values to
the input node.

The controller is used to compare the desired and actual value of the silo temperature, if the
temperature value is above threshold value the fan is switched ON and when the temperature value
is the same as the desired one fan is switched OFF.
