the
Challenge
Inadequate conventional disinfection technique based on peracetic acid,
leading to a poor product quality, unsafe working conditions and corrosi-
on problems.
the
Results
Danone Tikveşli is a milk producer (dairy industry) located in Turkey. The biggest problem in the dairy industry is the pre-
sence of yeasts and molds, resulting in a poor product quality and product losses. They initially used peracetic acid (PAA)
as disinfectant, but this leaves a distinctive, irritant smell of vinegar and it leaded to corrosion problems. The chemical is
toxic by inhalation or ingestion and it can be absorbed through the skin.

Therefore, the company decided to switch to Huwa-San, a highly eco-friendly disinfectant that is safe to work with and
easy to be applied. On top of that, it is colourless, odourless and tasteless. Danone Turkey tested Huwa-San TR50 F&B for
two weeks in several applications within the company.

Air disinfection (Fogging): Air-borne pathogens can cause food contamination, leading to a poor product quality. In order
to reduce the risk of air contamination, a 2% (vol.%) Huwa-San TR50 F&B solution is fogged/sprayed in the air using a
hand ULV fogging device.

Tank disinfection: The storage tanks are sprayed with a 1% (vol.%) Huwa-San TR50 F&B solution to reduce the risk of food
contamination. It is essential to keep the surfaces moist during the disinfection period (10 – 20 minutes). Afterwards, a
final rinse is necessary (food industry).

is at least 10 minutes, and afterwards rinsing is necessary (food industry).

The larger parts and equipment will be sprayed with a 1% (vol.%) Huwa-San TR50 F&B solution for at least 10 minutes. In
this case too, rinsing afterwards is required.

Cleaning In Place (CIP)

Weekly CIP system disinfection with a 0.01% (vol.%) Huwa-San TR50 F&B solution. The last rinse water must have a con-
centration above 80 ppm.

Results
After implementing Huwa-San, the customer explains that they have less problems as before with peracetic acid. Huwa-
San leaves no smell and it is not corrosive.
Huwa-San solved the problem of yeasts and molds, leading to safer and more hygienic working conditions and improved
product quality.
