Scaffolding is a teaching technique used to build connections for learners.

Scaffolding in learning is a

process in which the difficult learning tasks were made it easy to understand.

Advantages of scaffolding are:

1. Easy to understand.

2. All learners are actively involved in the learning process.

3. Scaffolding minimizes the learner’s frustrations.

4. Quality in teaching and more productivity.

Keeping this in mind I planned my lesson based on scaffolding. The advantages which I found was it

helps the students understand why they are doing the work and why it is important.    One of the primary

benefits of scaffolding instruction is that it engages the learner.  Keeps students on task – by providing

structure, the scaffolded lesson or research project, provides pathways for the learners.  The students are

given the freedom to use their creativity in the given framework by the teacher to complete the task. They

may even make mistakes, which I know that some teachers may find difficult to allow, however, it is of my

personal belief that students learn through their mistakes much better.

Students will know their expectations from the beginning of the activity with the help of exemplary work,

rubrics etc. Extra sources given to students in the form of work sheets, extra reading material etc. will help

them to link their previous knowledge to the new on
