(reading, writing, listening and/or speaking) and language
development.

This lesson incorporates literacy instruction by providing my

students a handout at the conclusion of the class about my plate and
what should your daily meals be proportioned like. I will take this
from my text set about nutrition.
Identify the instructional resources, materials, and/or
technologies that will be used during the lesson, and explain how
they are culturally, age and linguistically appropriate.

Materials
Basketballs (20)
Music
Different color Pennies
Hula Hoops

Identify informal and formal assessments used to monitor

student learning of the intended student learning
goals/objectives. List the evaluation criteria (or attach rubric)
you will use to evaluate and analyze student performance on
these assessments.

Can students correctly get in a defense stance?

Can students follow the rules of the game?
How are students working together during team play?
Can students use offensive strategies to help them in game play?

Describe procedures (e.g., teacher actions, student actions,

grouping procedures, monitoring procedures) you will follow
during the entire lesson. Include introduction, active
engagement, and closure; provide a time frame for each section.
The lesson should be scripted and detailed in such a way that a
substitute would be able to execute your plan without any issue.

Introduction – 10 Min
Before class begins, all shoes should be tied, bags should be on top
of bleachers
Warm up – (Plyometrics) Butt kicks, High knees, 50% jog around
the gym twice - 3 Min
(Stretch) Straight down touching toes, arms across chest, arms over
head, Butterfly – 3 Min
Dribbling warm up- Around the head, legs. Dribble right, dribble
left, between the legs, cross over, behind the back – 2 Min
Passing warm up – Students pair up and perform the 3 different
passes. One at a time. 2 Min

Demonstration– 5 min
Distribute defense skills handout
Introduce the task today & explain what the difference between
offense and defense is. Demonstrate a correct defense stance.
1. Knees bent
2. Arms out wide
3. Head up

Individual – 6 Min
Students will be split up into equal groups around the gym. They will
shoot towards the basket using the correct shooting form
demonstrated and practiced last class.
Add variations that include a specific spot
 Using the correct form, try to score the basketball from
different areas on the court (Foul line and below)

Group – 14 Min
In defense the play is not finish until you secure the rebound. We
will now practice rebounding.
Each student will go about 3 times to get the reps in. 4 students will
be around the 3-point line and another student will be facing them.
The shot goes up and the student below the 3-point line must box out
their man and get the rebound.(5 min)

In offense, I will introduce a strategy that even professionals use

which is called the pic & roll. I will demonstrate with a student and
allow them to practice for (3 min).

I will introduce a new drill which is 3 on 2, 2 on 1. This can be a

modified game as well but the purpose was to allow students to see a
defense and coordinate a way to score using tips. Same for defense.
(6 min)

Game – 7 Min
I will be dived students to play 4 on 4. Subs will be made
continuously.

Closure/Cool down– 2-3 Min

Can someone demonstrate a correct defense stance?
Give students the handout about “my plate” and give a brief
statement about it.

Explain how provision is made for effective accommodation of

the needs of students with exceptionalities. Describe how this
lesson includes differentiation (Content, Process, Product, and/or
Environment) to address the strength(s) and/or need(s) of one or
more individuals or groups of students in your class including
students with I.E.P.s, 504s, and ELs.

Provisions include
 Greater space is provided safe participation for both the
wheelchair bound student and those in proximity
 Clear and consistent rules are used with student expectations
and consequences stated
 Distractions and unnecessary obstacles and equipment are
removed
 Instructions are rephrased as necessary
 Short or concise instructions are used and are repeated as
necessary.

Differentiation Include
 Amount of Time for a student (More or less)
 Pairing of students to accommodate skill levels
 Distance for the shooting can be increased or decreased
 Different type of ball. (Womens basketball, Smaller ball)
