CELESTIAL CEREMONY

(INVESTITURE)

Place: A garden or lawn or white hall or park


Equipment: Magic Carpet

Part 1: INTRODUCTION & INVESTITURE

The five Bright Stars holding the Magic Carpet skip to the center of the garden or hall.
As they lay on the floor, they sing:

“We’re the little Bright Stars, Bright Stars, Bright Stars


We’re the little Bright Stars,
Spreading the Magic Carpet.”

Troop Leaders (North Stars and Morning Stars) stand at the center with the Magic
Carpet in front of them.

Step 1. The clusters by turns enter hopping and skipping and singing their rhyme songs until
they reach their troop leaders. They quietly form a circle around Magic Carpet, stand at
attention and sing their respective songs.”

a.) White ….. “We’re the Starlights shinning through Brave and helpful to all of you”
b.) Gold .…. “Here we are the Jolly Starbeams helping people everyday.”
c.) Red ….. “We’re the Stardust on our way to help the people everyday.”
d.) Pink ..… “Here we are, the sparkling Star Rays, giving help with a smiling face.”
e.) Red-Orange … “We’re the Star Glow, watch us go helpful, truthful wherever we go.”

Step 2. Morning Star comes forward, executed the Girl Scout Sign to North Star who returns
it, and then announces aloud:

“North Star, we have found little Twinklers in the Starry Circle who want to join our Stars.”

Step 3. North Star: “Let them come forward. “(Morning Star then fetches the Twinklers who
are hiding nearby, behind some improvised cloud or bush or plant.)

Step 4. North Star: “Tell me, Why do you want to become a Star?”

Step 5. Twinkler: “ I want to bring light.” (If more than one twinkler si to be invested, each
one should give a different answer, such as: “ I want to be truthful,
helpful, and obedient, etc.)”

Step 6. North Star: “Stars are little children who brighten their homes with smiles and good
deeds. Each star has to make happy everyday her mother or father, sister or brother. She
has to keep herself brightly shinning by being clean, truthful and obedient. Do you want to
become such a Star in your home?

Step 7. Twinkler: “Yes, North Star, I do.

Step 8. North Star: “ Very Well, Twinkler, you have to come to the right place. But before
you join the clusters, you have to make a promise. Will you say your promise now?
Step 9. Twinkler with her right hand at Star Scout sign, makes her promise before the
North Star, clearly, loudly but slowly.

“ I promise to do my best
To love God and my country;
To help other people everyday,
especially those at home.”

Step 10. North Star returns the sign with the Girl Scout sign and then pins the Star Scout
membership pin on the left collar, and the World pin on the right collar of
the star uniform. She then welcomes the girl to the troop with the
Girl Scout Handshkae and Sign saying: “Welcome to Star Troop No. ____ of
General Santos City Council of the Girl Scout of the Philippines.”

Step 11. North Star: “ Now you are truly a member of the Star Scout Troop. But before
you join the Star Cluster, your mother will put on your star crown,” Mothers
and guardians should be given special seats in front of the circle to facilitate
this part of the program. The mother comes forward and puts the crown
(cardboard star made by the girls themselves) on her daughter.

Step 12. Morning Star then comes forward to take the new Star Scout to the Cluster
where she will belong.

Step 13. North Star: “ We welcome you to the Milky Way.” The Stars form a big circle
around the Magic Carpet, holding hands and then dancing while singing;

I’m a Star Scout; Yes, a Star Scout


And I shine everywhere
Here I twinkle, there I twinkle
As I float in the air.

I am a Star Scout, trala-lala


A little Star Scout, Trala-lala
I shine and gleam in the bright skies above.
I am a Star Scout, Trala-lala
A little Star Scout, trala-lala
Let’s dance and sing in the skies above.”
II. SPECIAL FEATURES

The Star Cluster show the special numbers they have prepared for the new
Star Scout who are given special places at the center of the hall.

Each Star Cluster, as a group, presents a dance or song or drama, etc.

III. Refreshments maybe served, but not necessary. The Star Scouts should handle as much
of the preparations and serving as possible.
