Subject: Request for revaluation of Semester 5 Result

Respected Sir,
This is with reference to the result of Semester V (November/December) announced on the 5 th of May, 2020.
The students of B.A (Hons) Eng III yr. batch, (College Name), would like to bring to your notice that this result
is inconsistent with the previous performance of the students over the last four semesters or the internal
assessment conducted through the semester and marked by the college teachers and also incommensurate with
the efforts put into the exams and our self-assessment of our performance. There has been a massive dip in
marks across the class, and as we believe basis interaction with students from other colleges, this seems to be the
trend with most students of English across the University of Delhi. Since this is not an individual aberration but
a collective shift, we would like to appeal to you to intervene and facilitate a mass revaluation.
Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, our batch is already staring at uncertainty concerning semester VI
examination and in view of that our Semester V results carry even more weight as they may amount to the
projected scores for our final year of study. We would further like to bring to your attention that many students
who aspire to apply to foreign or Indian universities for further studies may no longer meet the required
eligibility criteria due to this unexpected and unprecedented result, adversely affecting their future career
prospects and therefore we request for an urgent and considerate intervention.
We would like to re-iterate that considering the present circumstances, this result is not simply the result of only
one semester but carries the potential of affecting our future and career prospects massively. While we have
faith in the assessment procedures followed by the university administration, these results have taken us by
shock and despair and we have no means to comprehend them except through an inadvertent lapse in the
process of evaluation. We, therefore, request you to look into the matter and ensure a redressal of our grievance
through mass revaluation.
We believe that the grounds for our appeal fall within the guidelines set out by the University’s academic
appeals and complaints procedure, and hope that the matter put forth will be resolved the soonest possible. Thus,
the student body requests you to look into the proposition of re-evaluation or one time mass moderation of the
result like performed in the past. We would be obliged if our request is taken into consideration at the earliest
possible.

Yours Sincerely,
Batch of 2017-2020
