 Emerging Technology In Finance: DeFi
● In short DeFi is the development of a new financial services built on decentralized networks.
● DeFi technology is built on top of current layer one systems/models of decentralized currency
i.e. crypto currency
○ Natural progression of money
● How is technology impacting what is used as a standard in finance in terms of cost/quality?
○ Digital is cheaper than physical. EX) UPS
● Examples of DeFi:
○ Lending
○ Asset Tokenization
○ Decentralized Exchanges
○ Derivatives
 Is DeFi The Solution? Yes!
● With current system there are some barriers such as;
○ Location
○ Wealth
○ Status
○ Time
● So how is this technology impacting finance overall?
○ DeFi removes costly intermediaries to make payment services more affordable
○ DeFi offers privacy/security and thus users have full custody of their wealth important
especially today where mass data leaks are becoming a common problem
○ DeFi has no barriers of entry and no barriers to add value to the market and economy
 DeFi For The Masses

● Money - Inflated - not backed up

● Assets - Stable - backed up
● Peer to Peer
 What To Expect In The Future

● “Customer intelligence” will be the most important predictor of

revenue growth and profitability

● Advances in Robotics and AI will start a wave of ‘re-shoring’ and

localisation

● The public cloud will become the dominant infrastructure model
