At the end of 1 hour period, the students will be able to:
1. Distinguish the direct and the indirect/reported speech;
2. Rewrite direct speech to reported/indirect speech.
3. Appreciate the lesson by knowing the direct and indirect/reported speech.

1. Motivation
The teacher will ask the students to
read the dialogue.
“I love thriller movies”, Calvin
said.
“What did Calvin said?”, Nico
asked.
Calvin said he loved thriller
movies.”
2. Presentation
The teacher will present the two
ways of reporting a speaker’s
sentence.
3. Discussion
Direct Speech/quoted speech
- Refers to the actual words said
by the speaker. It is set within
quotation marks (“…”)
Indirect/reported speech
- Refers to what the speaker has
said without using the
speaker’s exact words. They
are not enclosed on quotation
marks.

5. Sonny said, “I love cookies.”
IV. Agreement.
Study the direct and reported
