Active and Passive Voice

ACTIVE PASSIVE
She cleaned the house yesterday. The house was cleaned by her
yesterday.
 Active Voice

The subject does the action.

I make a cake.
She sold the TV. -> sell
The boy does his homework.
They are writing a book.
 Passive Voice

The subject receives the action.

The cake is made by me.
The TV was sold by her.
The homework is done by the boy.
The book is being written by them.
 Active x Passive

Verb tense Active Voice Passive Voice

Simple Present I make a cake. The cake is made by me.

Simple Present The man does his exercises after work. The exercises are done by the man after work.

Simple past She sold the TV. The TV was sold by her.

Present continuous They are writing a book. The book is being written by them.
 Active x Passive

ALWAYS add the verb to be in the PASSIVE VOICE according to

the verb tense of the ACTIVE VOICE.

participle form to have PASSIVE VOICE.
