Transmission Hydraulic Control Valves

SMCS - 3152-15; 3152-16
Disassemble Transmission Hydraulic Control Valves
NOTE: See DISASSEMBLE TRANSMISSION for removal of transmission hydraulic control valves.
1. Remove bolts (1). Remove cover (3).
2. Remove the snap ring from the cover with tool (A). Remove retainer (2), the spring and poppet from the
cover.

3. Remove bolts (6). Remove pilot valve (4).
4. Remove pin (5) with a hammer and punch.
5. Remove stop (7). Remove the O-ring seal from the stop. Remove valve spool (8) from the pilot valve body.
6. Remove detents (9) from the body.
7. Remove bolts (15). Remove directional control valve (10).
8. Remove bolts (11) and (14). Remove plates (12) and (13) from the directional control valve.
9. Remove valve spool (16) from the valve body.
10. Remove springs (18) and (19). Remove valve spool (17) from the valve body.
11. Remove differential control valve (20).
12. Remove the bolts that hold the two covers. Remove covers (21) and (22). Remove the O-ring seal from
cover (21).
13. Remove spring (23) and a valve spool (24) from each side of the differential control valve.
14. Remove valve spool (26) and spring (27).
15. Remove plug (30), spring (29), and washer (28). Remove the O-ring seal from the plug.
16. Remove valve spool (25) from the valve.
17. Remove spring (31) from sleeve (32).
18. Remove piston (34) and springs (33). Remove the slug from the piston.
19. Remove sleeve (32) from valve spool (25).
20. Remove dowel (35) from the valve and the stop with a hammer and punch.
21. Remove stop (36) from the valve. Remove the dowels and the eight dampers from the valve.
22. Remove modulating control valve (39) from the manifold.
23. Remove the bolts that hold the two covers. Remove covers (37) and (38). Remove the O-ring seals from
the covers.
24. Remove spring (46) and a valve spool (47) from each side of the modulating control valve.
25. Remove piston (40), two springs (41), and spacer (42) from the valve.
26. Remove valve spools (44) and (45) from the valve. Remove spacers (43) and the slug from spool (44).
27. Remove the snap ring from valve spool (44) with tool (C).
28. Remove retainer (49), spring (51), and plunger (50) from the valve spool.
29. Remove pin (48) from the spool.
30. Put the spring in compression and remove snap ring (52) with tool (B).
31. Remove washer (53), spring (54), and washer (55) from valve spool (45).
Assemble Transmission Hydraulic Control Valves
1. Put valve spools (5) and (13) into position in the modulating control valve. Put springs (4) and (15) in
position on the spools.
2. Put washer (17), spring (18), and washer (20) in position on the spool. Put the spring in compression and
install snap ring (19) with tool (B).
3. Put valve spool (2) in position in the valve.
4. Put two springs (7) in position on the spacer and piston (6). Put piston (6) into position in the valve.
5. Put plunger (10), spring (11) and retainer (12) into position in the valve spool. Install the snap ring in the
spool with tool (C). Put pin (8) and spacers (9) in position on the spool. Put the slug into position in the spool.
6. Put valve spool (14) into position in the valve.
7. Install the O-ring seals in the two covers. Put covers (1) and (16) in position on the valve. Install bolts (3)
that hold the two covers. Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 22 ± 3 lb.ft. (3.0 ± 0.4 mkg).
8. Put modulating control valve (21) in position on manifold (22).
9. Put valve spools (30) and (37) in position in the differential control valve. Put springs (28) and (40) in
position on the spools.
10. Put spring (34) in position in valve spool (24). Put spool (24) into position in the valve.
11. Install O-ring seal (44) on the plug.
12. Put washer (35), spring (36), and plug (42) in position in the valve.
13. Put valve spool (26) into position in sleeve (29).
14. Put slug (33) and two springs (31) in position in piston (32).
15. Put piston (32) and the springs into position in the valve.
16. Put sleeve (29) and the valve spool into position in the valve. Put spring (27) in position on the sleeve.
17. Put stop (39) into position in the valve. Install dowel (38) that holds the stop.
18. Install O-ring seal (25) in cover (23). Put covers (23) and (41) in position on the valve. Install bolts (43)
that hold the two covers. Tighten bolts (43) to a torque of 22 ± 3 lb.ft. (3.0 ± 0.4 mkg). Install the eight
dampers and the dowels.
19. Put differential control valve (45) in position on the modulating control valve.
20. Put valve spool (52) into position in the directional control valve.
21. Put valve spool (51) into position in the valve. Put springs (50) and (49) into position in the spool.
22. Put plates (46) and (47) in position on the valve. Install bolts (48) that hold the two plates. Tighten bolts
(48) to a torque of 22 ± 3 lb.ft. (3.0 ± 0.4 mkg).
23. Put directional control valve (53) in position on the differential control valve.
24. Install bolts (54). Tighten bolts (54) to a torque of 22 ± 3 lb.ft. (3.0 ± 0.4 mkg).
25. Put detents (57) in position in the pilot valve. Install the pin that holds the detent in the valve.
26. Put valve spool (56) into position in the valve.
27. Install the O-ring seal on the stop. Install stop (55) in the valve.
28. Put pilot valve (58) in position on the directional control valve.
29. Install bolts (59). Tighten bolts to a torque of 22 ± 3 lb.ft. (3.0 ± 0.4 mkg).
30. Put poppet (59), spring (61), and retainer (60) in position in the cover.
31. Install snap ring (62) into the cover with tool (A).
32. Put cover (64) in position on the pilot valve.
33. Install bolts (63). Tighten bolts (63) to a torque of 22 ± 3 lb.ft. (3.0 ± 0.4 mkg).

Transmission Hydraulic Control Valves

Disassemble Transmission Hydraulic Control Valves

1. Remove bolts (1). Remove cover (3).

3. Remove bolts (6). Remove pilot valve (4).

4. Remove pin (5) with a hammer and punch.

6. Remove detents (9) from the body.

7. Remove bolts (15). Remove directional control valve (10).

9. Remove valve spool (16) from the valve body.

11. Remove differential control valve (20).

14. Remove valve spool (26) and spring (27).

16. Remove valve spool (25) from the valve.

17. Remove spring (31) from sleeve (32).

19. Remove sleeve (32) from valve spool (25).

22. Remove modulating control valve (39) from the manifold.

29. Remove pin (48) from the spool.

Assemble Transmission Hydraulic Control Valves

3. Put valve spool (2) in position in the valve.

6. Put valve spool (14) into position in the valve.

8. Put modulating control valve (21) in position on manifold (22).

11. Install O-ring seal (44) on the plug.

13. Put valve spool (26) into position in sleeve (29).

26. Put valve spool (56) into position in the valve.

32. Put cover (64) in position on the pilot valve.
